TESTING THE CHEAPEST TOP HANDLE CHAINSAW ON EBAY!!!!! Trolling My Trolls

  • This time I am prepared for all of the negativity that I might get on this review like I did on my Chinese chainsaw review video.
There will be advertisements on this video to start with.
I am in no way shape or form being paid by anyone to do a review on this saw. My youtube revenue from advertisements on my channel paid for all but $3 of this chainsaw.
    LINK TO BUY: www.ebay.com/itm/131786320304
I bought this saw on ebay. It was the cheapest brand new saw I could find on eBay. It costs $142 and that includes shipping to where I live. I ordered it March 29th 2017 and it arrived at my house on April 4th 2017.
I have a few jobs that need done with this saw where a bigger saw would be more dangerous to use. Its really nice to have such a light weight saw to do small jobs with including brushing and cutting limbs off trees as well as larger branches that fall off trees. I do a lot of chainsaw milling and this saw will come in handy for edging the slabs as well as cutting off some of the branches that get in the way when milling.
There will be more videos of this saw to come as time goes on.
Hope everyone enjoyed the video. It took a lot of time and effort for me to do this video.
Dont forget to like comment and subscribe for more. I know I probably won't see the majority of you on the next video but in the event that I do, I'll see you on the next video!!
    Thanks for watching!!

You shouldn't "engage trolls", I hate being 'that guy' here but there's a strong analogy to be made to giving-in to terrorist-demands in that they get what they want - the only valid response is no response at all, except the absolute minimal *if and when* it is a truly practical problem! That said, thank you THANK YOU for this video, I was on-the-fence between the lot of ~$90-110 no-name saws (that look *identical* to this csp2540, only difference I can find besides lack-of-Scheppach-stickers is that these cheaper units ask for a 25:1 oil ratio, and claim a 9,000 RPM max compared to scheppach asking for 40:1 on their claimed 11k RPM! My tachometer is out-for-delivery so I'll be able to test the scheppach this afternoon, mine's got

Oh I wanted to add a couple silly/novelty/trivia items-
1 - the manual, while VERY thorough and awesome (except for refusing to address carb-adjustments - but the H&L take regular spline-driver carb tools), takes a ton of its tree-felling graphics from the POULAN manual!! I was reading the online pdf manual for my pp4218a, anyone can google for this, anyways it's got illustrations of how to properly cut a log on the ground, how to cut compressed-sides etc etc, with infographics - these same infographics were just straight-up copied into the scheppach's manual, see the images in the beginning of the manual that picture/show cartoon logs and how to cut them and google that pp4218a manual, they are clearly identical, can't help wondering if it's plagiarism or if it's a common diagram used throughout arboriculture but, if that latter option, I'm not seeing any attributions made to a source in either manual so guessing it is POULAN/HUSQVARANA(yup, same company) property that was plagiarized! Happy to have hard-copies of those though so not upset w/ scheppach, personally :)
2 - the scheppach sticker on the starter-side's grille was already like 1/4" peeled *out-of-box*, I know it's a silly item but jesus I don't think I ever got the "you went too cheap and made a bad choice" feeling so bad as I did at that moment LOL! Within 20min that feeling was gone, and hasn't returned - am in love w/ the csp2540 - but suffice to say I've removed all the stock stickers from the unit (thankfully Bartlett's/etc send stickers when you're buying ropes and whatnot, now I'm going to just make up new brand-names anytime someone asks me, ridiculous / unbelievable names, just for the hell of it :P Seriously though I do plan to try and get more people using this thing after I've spent a couple months with it & verified it's not quick to crap out or anything, my biggest fear is that it's like that that no-name unit that wants 25:1 and limits to 9000 rpm (instead of scheppach running leaner fuel[40:1] and spinning to 11k rpm) and that the scheppach is just designed for raw power / performance **at the expense of** a reasonable service-life, so plan to push it pretty hard for a couple months then do a full tear-down - actually I'll document that to post here - to see if it's held-up and is worth buying a 2nd/backup unit, or worth advising people against!! I've actually setup a journal that I've taped to my invoice-folder so I can mark rough hours-used on this saw as well as fuel I've gone through[note- using eth-free, gas-station 90-92oct with HEET because i'm in humid FL, using 40:1 for now]

Factory exhaust port/slit is faaaar too small, can't breathe, that poor thing.
Make the exhaust square and full width, inlet also square, more width and a little deeper and big ramps at the piston, where the transfers are.
And that thing will run like hell.

They're back in stock, considering one myself, it's not super light - I really want the new Echo Cs2511wes at 5lbs, but they are unobtainium right now, and probably will be for months, as well as selling at or over list till next year. This is $146.31 right now (10-20-20) freeship direct from Italy to US in 1-2 weeks. Would make a decent carving saw if it holds up. Parts are available - I found the site (mostly in Italian, but exploded view and prices)
      www.scheppach.com/product-details/Kettensaege-CSP2540-scheppach---1PS-5910108903.aspx
Looks like a well fleshed out company, not a rip-off oem er. That puts me at rest on that, I'd be happier if there was a US parts source, and there may be if I look further.
      Happy sawing!

Don't be discouraged bro'. I think that Oregon is Scandinavian by manufacture if not by packing, but I'm not sure. I got an electric 2000w chainsaw last year for about £50 GBP - the best value I could find and it used an Oregon blade for which I bought a spare. Unless we in the UK and you in the USA can find a way to pay decent wages and still provide quality goods at more affordable prices, we who don't have unlimited budgets are going to be importing to get the job done.
Every good wish, pal. - Paul in the UK Midlands

I received mine this week. when the chain brake is off I can hear some clinking vibrations. I think I hear it too from your saw although not as pronounced. Anyone else has this problem? it is linked to the brake not being far enough for the rotating cylinder that entrains the chain and the vibrations makes the brake clunk against that cylinder.

Next time you show a saw being used you should show real-time ;) LOVE the video, am using a sawzall in canopies as my chainsaw is rear-handled and I couldn't afford a proper stihl/echo/etc top-handled unit yet and *just* learned of these unknown-brand saws, in fact I'd found this same one (and had same german/italian confusion - still surprised there's not a US-based distributor) and was hoping to see a good review like this - would be very curious how it's held up over time? I *would have* been buying a used top-handled, but the idea of getting my own new one, even if generic-branded, is FAR more appealing!!
/still would've LOVED to have seen real-time-cutting of that saw, just curious how quickly it's going through a 6" limb like that!

Keep up the good work. When it comes to chainsaws, no information should be overlooked and in this business, the trolls most likely have a lot of years under their belts so they deserve to be heard and not taken personally. And I wouldn't have gotten to hear their opinions if you wern't making the videos so keep it up.

love your vids, good to see someone doing reviews for the Non Popular saws and you go into good detail. The sheppach looks identical o the Italian compäny AMA, which makes a number of other saws with different names..Will give this a Thumbs up..Regards Paul, A Pro Arborist from The UK

i think i will get one, if i need parts, i think i will get one, when i need a new bar, i will get one. then i will have all the parts i should ever need. and still lower then my beloved stihl. thanks for for the video!

z lindauer If this one ever breaks I would buy another one for parts like you would. I think you can buy just the bar off the internet and the same with the chain. It was the cheapest brand new saw I could find on ebay. A Stihl would be nice however it's pretty expensive. As long as I take care of this saw, it will take care of me. Thanks for watching!!

The Echo CS260 version of this saw, the chain side cover does not also cover the muffler, only the sprocket/clutch. That's my only real beef with the design of these clone top-handle chainsaws is the clutch sidecover.

    • @Lanninglongarmmowing
      @Lanninglongarmmowing  7 ปีที่แล้ว

Jeffrey Beyer The exhaust is covered on the scheppach for the most part. That side cover is a little difficult to get off but with use I'm sure it will loosen up a little.

In OZ these saws are branded OZITO and sold at department stores.
4 years ago i needed one for a big $ scrub clearing job and the saw run faultless for 3 days straight.
The saws were on sale for $99 and i was so impressed with the performance that i went back and got another one.
Both these saws are still going strong and have made me thousands of dollars..

    • @Lanninglongarmmowing
      @Lanninglongarmmowing  7 ปีที่แล้ว

David Hore Wow OZ quite a ways away from Pennsylvania, United States where I'm from. $99 is a pretty good price, wow. I am also tempted to buy another one because it's such a great saw so far. I know when something is good it might not be around for ever. Glad to hear you've had good luck with your small saws. It will do the job of a Stihl or Husqvarna equivalent.

March 2018 - I just bought one of these for the princely sum of A$97.90. The side cover is a bugger to get back on, but I love it. 12" bar, bloody awesome for bucking limbs into firewood.

Thanks for the review, I actually didn't know this little saw(Sheppach) existed. I've been looking at the Hitachi CS33EDTP and its twin, the Tanaka, with 14" bar for light clean-up and cutting saplings. Now I want the Sheppach!

swampyD1000 You are welcome. I am surprised how little information there is on the internet about this saw. It seems pretty well made. Its has it's place in my cheap saw collection. You should give the scheppach a try.

CHINPAZO I probably wouldn't return it. It's probably a good saw. If I remember correctly, there's some videos of those saws on TH-cam. It a little more of a known brand name than the Scheppach.
