Parker Chainsaw Review - Ask an Arborist

  • After 2 months of regular use and 11 tanks of fuel I share my thoughts in one of the most detailed reviews I've seen done for Parker Brand Chainsaws, I contact customer support to check how they deal with the 2 year warranty, I ask an experienced Arborist what he thinks of it, I race a Stihl MS260 and arguably win (it was 10 years older and 8cc smaller), and I give you my thoughts having used it in all weather conditions, mostly rain and snow.
    Hopefully you enjoy the video, please understand that I do like this saw and for 1/5th the price I would recommend it, but it is not in the same league as a pro Stihl saw when comparing build quality.
    I'd also like to say a big thanks to Martin from Greener Glens Bushcraft channel for helping to make this video, if you want to check out his Bushcraft TH-cam channel here is the link, he makes some amazing things and has a wealth of knowledge.

    Been running an Oregon bar and chain on the saw using the same sprocket for 5 years and no problems. Absolutely no damage to the sprocket.

    Thanx for a good review on this machine. I have just purchased it £107 and I am only using it for domestic log cutting which is perfect for what I need it for. I do not intend to clear a forest so for me it will be a lot easier than using a bow saw. 👍👍👍👍👍

    Thanks - good review. I have the 62cc model and needed a reminder of how it all works. I agree with you - for a reasonably-priced saw it's pretty sturdy and I've never really had any problems with it. Got through a pretty big tree that was casualty of the recent storms with no bother.

    Great video. I bought this exact saw after watching this video. I worked in Fuel Reduction for many years as a spotter and swamper, never used a saw but had to maintain them, clean them and attend the safety training, so when we needed a saw to maintain the forest on the farm I work part time on, bearing in mind it will only get used occasionally although sometimes for several hours, this looked like the best chainsaw for that kinda price and its been great. The only thing I find which you mentioned is I occasionally hit the power-switch and turn it off. But its worked great for felling and pruning.

    It's very popular Chinese saw, based on Japanese Zenoah. Many distributors orders them under any name, color, or body shape they like, but it is one construction. I have the same, named "Demon". All in all it's not bad for a price.

    Thanks, seems like a well balanced review. Horses for courses, you wouldn't need a Grand National winner to hack a few fields at the weekend and the same goes here. You don't need a top line Stihl or Husqvarna to occasionally cut a bit of firewood.

    Great review - I'm looking at your vid as was to buy one - and I will, looks good for the money. Its a tiny bit cheaper on Amazon at the moment and they are also offering an additional warranty for wherever you are not covered by the manufacturer warranty (ie if they wont honour it or its expired - 3 years is just £14 odd)

  • @MrAdopado
    @MrAdopado ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I bought the 62cc version in 2017, so coming up for 6 years in a few months. Still works great and none of the "weak points" picked up in the video have proved to be a problem other than the choke control is now a bit bent! I'm not a big person so after a while I start to feel the weight a bit if I'm doing awkward angle stuff. It's done some fairly heavy duty work from time to time. Unless you need pro features these things are spectacularly good value. (As someone else commented I was very surprised and concerned that you weren't wearing chainsaw gloves.)

    Remember Martin from his ‘Bushcraft boys’ days. Still follow him on Greener glens. My brother has had a similar generic Chinese saw for several years, they are more robust than they seem. Was £50 new delivered to his door.

      Ooft, that sounds like he got lucky, I tried a £50 China one and it only lasted 5 weeks, tried to return it but I couldn't contact the company so I gave up, might get a Stihl or Husky at some point but for now this Parker does the job 👍

    Thanks mate, im living in Italy now in an old stone cottage in the moutains with a little dense forest attached. I already got the Parker Brand multi tool, it starts every time, the little extension chainsaw attachment actually works, its slow but its great for low branches without needing a ladder, and avoids the safety issues. Nice video, thanks again big help, im just off to buy the 62cc one on amazon its 176 euros, fingers crossed!.

    Great review. Thanks for that. What about the weight? The dry weight of the Stihl MS-211 is 4.6kg whereas the Parker Brand PCS-4500 is 8.5kg. Very tempted by the value for money since I will just be using it for domestic purposes.

    • @SwampValley
      @SwampValley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, we weren't really comparing them properly, the Stihl wins, the weight is a factor but I think the Parker will have more grunt than the 35cc 211, just depends on your budget and what you plan to cut I guess.

    @leeevans4268 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you did have a problem with the sprocket nose on the saw when you beat the shit out of it with the biggest hammer ever you would of completely finished it off you most probably over heated it I expect that the factory didn't grease it enough but what you have done is over tighten the chain so much that it overheated if was a Oregon bar it would of been ok but remember not to over tighten the chain because the çlutch bearings will be next followed by the main engine bearings the saw will last if you take it a little bit lighter remember it is not a still or huskavana if think your channel is great and you are a good bloke so good luck with everything respect

    Nothing against the Chainsaw. It is another Zenoah Clone and most are actually very dependable. More so than most (residential) homeowners with little knowledge of how to take of a piece of equipment as complicated as a Chainsaw.
