Saw the video title and immediately had 'Land Speeder, Speeder of Land' as an earworm. Get to the end of the video and was not disappointed. Also beautiful job on the model.
I like the new addition to the army of dreams, seatbelts are definately a must on those earlier variants. I imagine the servitors giving it a wax and polish humming along to those catchy imperial tunes.
I have no interest in painting or playing old hammer but I love the journey your videos take us on. From technical, to lore, to paint. it's always interesting and entertaining.
My only suggestions are two minor improvements. One, a series of flat haired brushes, and two, an egg shaker or finger-drum percussion for your gloriously triumphant songs!
Saw the video, first thought "Land Speeder-The Speeder of Land", starts Video, first Sentence "The Land speeder- The Speeder of Land"- Love this channel!
As a kid, I played a 3-player game with my two younger brothers. My youngest brother flew his Ravenwing Landspeeder directly into the middle of my other brother's orks. It shot the Ork Skorcha with the assualt cannon and the fuel tank exploded. He then rolled double 6s for the range of the explosion and suddenly EVERY SINGLE ORK was on fire. 😂
This is not possible for everyone: I have a machinist friend that made me steel stands for my Land Speeders and other models that are on stands. The rod is threaded into the base. He glued in a threaded brass insert into the models. The rod then can be screwed into the model. It all comes apart for easy storage. It is super strong and stable because of the weight of the steel base. I advise anyone that has a lot of these type models to make friends with a machinist, or become a machinist.
I almost hesitate to post this after the effort you put in, but the heavy flamer is meant to be set further back, the gunner's gauntlets aligned so he is gripping the rear handles. And as to the 2nd edition kit, I assembled mine long ago, painted in my first chapter, the Doom Eagles. When the 3rd edition plastic one came out, we purchased many, and and my lone metal land speeder looked a bit odd among them. Ended up swapping and converting it into a Genestealer Cult version, complete with Tallarn crew, heavy bolter and plasma gun.
I bought an old Ravenwing metal land speeder for similar reasons. Although I'm doing a Mantis Warriors as Ravenwing (no white scars, seemed close enough). I used a paint brush for the stand!
I can't wait for the Compliation Album. Groovy tunes! ❤😂 Sweet model as well. You and I, Matt, are in about the same place with what we like in the hobby from what I see. Great content, sir!
The 2nd edition army is looking pretty awesome there. I grew up in small town America, so back then the only way I ever got to see this stuff back then was in the pages of magazines like InQuest. Seeing you fulfill the childhood dream is great and I get it man. Keep it up
I still have one of these in a state of part built, it was part of a full squad. 6 bike mounted marines +1 Attack Bike +1 Speeder = 10 Man Squad. I need to paint them....
That is cool. When (if) I do my dream 2nd edition Imperial Fists army I might do a full assault squad like that. You can upgrade one of them into a sergant right? (I have my old 2nd editon books but they are in a box somewhere).
That beautiful lump of metal is turning 30 soon, well done on giving it new life! Good thing Arkhan didn't discover any aquatic species or found any countries, that would be hella confusing.
whilst i'm following your guides for my own chaos army, I must say I'm kinda tempted to paint my heresy beakies as ultramarines following your painting scheme just because it looks so retrotastic ;)
great work with the painting. the old models and paintscheme with all its vibrant colors really puts the core back to them. I will do the same when I have time to paint again.
I have most of the parts for two of those in my bitz bag (I have no idea how because I am an ork). You have inspired me to loot them and use them in my 2nd edition Deffskull list. And by the way, I love your content.
The question of who discovered the Land Speeder reminded me of the 80s' film, "Jake Speed". I was tickled to find that there is a tangential link between the film and 40k, as the film was reviewed in White Dwarf. According to Wikipedia, "Alex Stewart reviewed Jake Speed for White Dwarf #83, and stated that "Until John Hurt turns up, having fun being a sleazy villain, the cast hang about, wondering what to say to each other. The result is surely the dullest and least speedy caper movie ever."" Thanks for another fun video.
Excellent job. That cross hair was a nice touch. Your ultramarines are becoming formidable. Not warhammer related, but I crumped a squirrel in my attic with a tomahawk this morning.
Wow this brings me back. I thought metal dreadnoughts were tough to make until I tried building ones of these bad boys. Stuck my fingers together several times. Each night.
A great addition to the collection! Small and nimble, it will be forever missed. Enormous gunbrick that is the Storm Speeder will never be a good substitute.
Greetings and Salutations! Enjoyable as always. I had one of these abominations. I sold it eventually. I find that making flying models in metal is a really bad idea. I eventually replaced it with the 3rd Ed plastic version, and armed it with an Assault Cannon and a Stormbolter. It serves with my Dark Angels. All the best to you, Billi.
Seriously impressive paint job! wow! it looks great and you really upped your details game. I can only imagine how proud your are of your collection. This army is legendary! Each time I watch your videos I am inspired to keep going with my own army, so thank you, and I really hope you will find someone to play against, because it would be beautiful, especially with the amazing terrain pieces you made previously :)
The first vehicle kit I owned! And mine was lead, so it was too heavy for the ridiculously inadequate base and broke almost immediately! IIRC, this was released in 95 (Call It Love by Deuce was in the Charts at the time, Google says '95). I've got two on the go right now, using the DM rules to replace with HB's and AC's of course! 😈
Ive found that brass tube from hobby shops work as an ideal flying stand peg substitute, obviously you have to paint it. They are great for flying minis you're gonna play with and are super easy to work with. They can also be cut and shaped with hobby files.
The landspeeder , Speeder of Land , is FIRE !!!!🤩 PMSL 😂 at the Anxiety, Tearing up a Treasured Relic comment, it made my day, dont ever stop being AWESOME BROTHER, all the best from the Gold Coast Australia 😉

hands down the best land speeder they made... anyone can fight me on that, it just looks like a flying sandle sincle 3rd ed. BTW here is a tip for computer screens man :D Putrid green as ya base, put whatever gumph over it ya want, numbers, readouts, targets etc then give it a coat of ork flesh wash. Awesome work on that land speeder Matthew, and while I haven't commented on your recent chaos projects....damn i do admit that the old way of mixing and matching units from different factions in a chaos undivided army is uniquely tempting, i may even consider that for a future project now. More importantly perhaps, i don't know if this was deliberate or not, but your narration is starting to tread into this ASMR sorta territory in my opinion lol, and wouldn't that just add a new feather to your cap? Back in the day brass rods were a must for a lot of vehicles and some bigger models.
@@bigpoppa1234 plastic is definitely not good for this. Especially if you actually are going to use the models on the table top in games.
A bit from a wire hangar with a dark matt black paint prime works well for flyers.
