    I love how Lu doesn't do a split jerk, he just front squats that shit up like a beast.

  • @Socomite
    @Socomite 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those squat jerks are absolutely unreal. I can't even fathom how strong you have to be to OHS that weight again after recovering from the clean... yet Lu Xiaojun just does it like it's nothing. Awesome.

  • @KettlebellGym
    @KettlebellGym 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Power /Push Jerk = Legs remain above parallel where the push is the main driver in getting the weight up
    Squat Jerk = Body dips where legs go below parallel so the strength of the legs are used from a low base to ensure the weight goes overhead
    I think thats about right.

  • @wDawks
    @wDawks 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just did. I trained for 2 weeks and did 160kg, and I weigh 3 kg less than him, doing it my own way without spreading my hands so much. Thx for the advice!

  • @vikingblood81
    @vikingblood81 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Truly impressive and inspiring. A quick question - can someone explain why the power jerk would ever be preferred over a split jerk? There obviously is a reason for it, I just don't understand it. Does it allow you to get under the bar faster? Even so, it seems like it'd be so much harder to have to OHS it in order to stand up, than "simply" recovering from a split jerk.
    Much thanks in advance.

    they had cool camera angles too, especially the side

  • @theronrodis8813
    @theronrodis8813 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The flexibility of this man is amazing. His unorthodox style always looks so loose like he's trying to "catch" the weight. But it works for him and he's one of the best lifters in the world for sure.

    Lu XiaoJun has just broken his world record with 175!

  • @EndlersaurusRex
    @EndlersaurusRex 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    In addition to power jerk being for those with more flexibility, it also favors those with incredible squat to clean ratios. You'll notice everyone who power or squat jerks also front squats far, far more than they ever clean and jerk, (i.e. C&J in excess of 70-80% of their front squat) while those that split jerk usually have C&J in excess of 80-90% of their front squat. For instance I've seen a 77 lifter C&J 200, but only FS 220. Lu Xiaojun, on the other hand, FSs at least 250.

    the back can support more weight over a greater period of time than the shoulders, so some chinese lifters choose to place more of the load on the back during jerk phase

    Do not put this on his trainers or him. The judges fucked up and didn't want to admit it. Why the fuck didn't they let Lu know that Haojie wasn't going to attempt the 175kg snatch? They should have told him.

    Amazing ability so high for such a low body weight of only 169 lbs.469 clean and jerk would equal Bob Bednarski's winning weight 242 lb class world championships 1969 in Poland.Yes I know they gave it initially to Jan Talts.Did anyone notice how large biceps are for this Olympic lifter but he doesn't pull with biceps in snatch or clean pull.
