Those squat jerks are absolutely unreal. I can't even fathom how strong you have to be to OHS that weight again after recovering from the clean... yet Lu Xiaojun just does it like it's nothing. Awesome.
Power /Push Jerk = Legs remain above parallel where the push is the main driver in getting the weight up Squat Jerk = Body dips where legs go below parallel so the strength of the legs are used from a low base to ensure the weight goes overhead I think thats about right.
I just did. I trained for 2 weeks and did 160kg, and I weigh 3 kg less than him, doing it my own way without spreading my hands so much. Thx for the advice!
Truly impressive and inspiring. A quick question - can someone explain why the power jerk would ever be preferred over a split jerk? There obviously is a reason for it, I just don't understand it. Does it allow you to get under the bar faster? Even so, it seems like it'd be so much harder to have to OHS it in order to stand up, than "simply" recovering from a split jerk. Much thanks in advance.
The flexibility of this man is amazing. His unorthodox style always looks so loose like he's trying to "catch" the weight. But it works for him and he's one of the best lifters in the world for sure.
In addition to power jerk being for those with more flexibility, it also favors those with incredible squat to clean ratios. You'll notice everyone who power or squat jerks also front squats far, far more than they ever clean and jerk, (i.e. C&J in excess of 70-80% of their front squat) while those that split jerk usually have C&J in excess of 80-90% of their front squat. For instance I've seen a 77 lifter C&J 200, but only FS 220. Lu Xiaojun, on the other hand, FSs at least 250.
the back can support more weight over a greater period of time than the shoulders, so some chinese lifters choose to place more of the load on the back during jerk phase
Do not put this on his trainers or him. The judges fucked up and didn't want to admit it. Why the fuck didn't they let Lu know that Haojie wasn't going to attempt the 175kg snatch? They should have told him.
Amazing ability so high for such a low body weight of only 169 lbs.469 clean and jerk would equal Bob Bednarski's winning weight 242 lb class world championships 1969 in Poland.Yes I know they gave it initially to Jan Talts.Did anyone notice how large biceps are for this Olympic lifter but he doesn't pull with biceps in snatch or clean pull.
@JuSeo91 chiiiiiill, I mean he does use a power/squat jerk, but his form is not that like, he doesn't pop his quads as much and he doesn't swing his head back like Dimas does
cuz the second player hurt don't want to do , and then change to Lu Xiaojun , he missed the chance. His coach protested and accepted by association, but the final decision is he don't want to do.
Hey, I basically just asked this question on reddit dot com/r/weightroom. There is an oly lifter there who is answering questions, I'll copy paste the reply from him in a second.
Well he wanted to go for 177 kilograms in his third and last attempt in the snatch. But he ran out of time and wasn't allowed to take the lift, sparking protests from his coach.
I don't get this. Whats the point ? Can someone explain lol... I mean, as i see it its like "YEA, I CAN LIFT THIS" and drop back down, whats the point...
.Perfect technique.Astounding strength.Great looking physique.Overall awesome athlete!
Thanks for leaving Sa's attempt in there :)
He always looks so happy!
Been a fan of Lu since this video what a freaking beast!
still the OG video that started it all
His coach's look at 2:52
"That's how we do it suckers."
I love how Lu doesn't do a split jerk, he just front squats that shit up like a beast.
Those squat jerks are absolutely unreal. I can't even fathom how strong you have to be to OHS that weight again after recovering from the clean... yet Lu Xiaojun just does it like it's nothing. Awesome.

I think thats about right.
I meditated in the mountains for a full week.
This guy has a big future. Perfect form, and he's only been training weightlifting for 7 years... Started at 18!!
I just did. I trained for 2 weeks and did 160kg, and I weigh 3 kg less than him, doing it my own way without spreading my hands so much. Thx for the advice!

they had cool camera angles too, especially the side
The flexibility of this man is amazing. His unorthodox style always looks so loose like he's trying to "catch" the weight. But it works for him and he's one of the best lifters in the world for sure.
@MusicforMe123 the muscles under his pits are called "lats"
Lu XiaoJun has just broken his world record with 175!

Also, they're playing Summer Song by Satriani in the background... as if this clip wasn't awesome as is, that just ups it into total epicness.
Man he's RIPPED from head to toe. I bet if he steps on to a basketball court he can fly with the best of them.
the back can support more weight over a greater period of time than the shoulders, so some chinese lifters choose to place more of the load on the back during jerk phase
lu is around 30 now, did he start his career late on or early? he's such an amazing lifter I'm surprised he gas not won more.
Yes he started late in his career but still managed to be the best snatcher in the history
can anyone explain why he missed the 177 attempt? There was some type of controversy over the time...
Do not put this on his trainers or him. The judges fucked up and didn't want to admit it. Why the fuck didn't they let Lu know that Haojie wasn't going to attempt the 175kg snatch? They should have told him.
perfect technique, and such an amazing С&J
Where can i see his measures? Neck, Waist, chest, biceps, those things?
Im 1,73 an weighting 78 and wanted to do some comparisons.
tyvm for a legit answer
3:30 is the best moment in the entire clip.
Also Lu Xiaojun is probably the happiest weightlifter I've ever seen. Go china!
same, i didnt realise he had a second attempt and actually had it there! thats a shame!!
Awesome performance! Awesome physique! Great technique!
They really butcher the names
@LayEmOut60 he is 172 cm tall, about 5' 8.
Many Olympic lifters do it as an auxiliary lift, but not often.
Happy Birthday Lu :D
this guy is brilliant!!!
Lu Xiaojun yesss
that smile... could move a boulder.
hmm 180 ..cant say ..but he looks capable of 177+210 in his top form ...i wud love to see Lu doing 180 & Sa Yuk doing 215
He did 177kg in Rio and 210 in training (or 207 as 77KG in 2016 nationals)
Lu is one jolly weight lifter. I suppose I would be that happy I could snatch/ C&J that much.
what are they saying in the begging before the lifts?
He has TOTAL Record (beat his own), just now 30 min ago
its just for the extremely flexible ones.. and they have to have a good balance since its easier to lose it at the back or in the front
Lu is a friggin champ, probably my favourite lifter at the moment. I really hope he doesn't go the way of Taner Sagir
that high five at 2:41 , was epic
coaches are yelling at him and psyching him up, also reminding him to keep his chest up and open, maximal force upwards, etc
@DBBMino Lu wasn't 77kgs at the time.
Why do they spread their grip so much? Seems like it would be harder that way?
I like how he was so joyous he forgot to bow.
Anybody know how tall he is?
@rohitf117
yeah, i also felt depressed for Lu cant break Clean&jerk record, he can do it
@JuSeo91 chiiiiiill, I mean he does use a power/squat jerk, but his form is not that like, he doesn't pop his quads as much and he doesn't swing his head back like Dimas does
@MrCarlWeber
he probably could, usually you choose a weight you can triple for the opener ;D
This guy has quads of peace!
@Redkister You could take that question and apply it to literally any achievement in life, indeed, what is the point?
Now that's impresive! :)
LOL, "female record mostly held by women" I meant CHINESE women.
The man has muscles in his armpits.
Those legs look like they could power launch a rocket.
@mrmag1cc yeah, hauling 170+ kg over ones head repeatedly in an explosive fashion tends to do that
@gangstalyrics504 174kg is 382.8 pounds. Not bad for a guy who weighs only 167 pounds! This guy is amazing!
WOw, the lifter bar almost broke O_O
@mrmag1cc fear not, some day you'll get it. I believe in you random youtube guy!
pretty much lol 174 211 would have given him first place in the 85s pretty impressive if you think about it
The very best.
cuz the second player hurt don't want to do , and then change to Lu Xiaojun , he missed the chance.
His coach protested and accepted by association, but the final decision is he don't want to do.
I actually can't copy/paste the response because it is far too many characters, haha. Check out the thread if you can.
actually he started when he was 18. guy is a freak
haojie will likely open with 170 and gun for 175, i really hope lu's coach doesnt make him open at 165 this time around.
holy shit, 180 at 77...
i felt really sad for Sa Yuk ,,,,,he almost 99% made it but bad luck :(
He weighs the same as me and he just threw my max deadlift over his head. Feels bad man.
@skirts365 perepetchenov 175 was at 85
@weightliftingisgreat lol wut I'm saying is Lv Xiaojun must have like a 44inch+ vertical jump
That dude is fuckin JACKED
Commentator said it was a power jerk just quietly.
i weigh the same as him and he just threw my max deadlift over his head. with a wide snatch grip. :'(
@some5672 : ) yeah, right ?
Can you imagine trying to put that weight over your head with a closer grip? It would be impossible, too long a way to get there.
those quads....mirin.
the real look of a super saiyan
Hey, I basically just asked this question on reddit dot com/r/weightroom. There is an oly lifter there who is answering questions, I'll copy paste the reply from him in a second.
damn Sa cleaned the weight like it was nothing
@Sleepingpillz If caucasian means what Wikipedia says it does (read: of European descent), then yup.
I'd say 99% of successfull wordclass weightlifters are on gear. But 99% of the people walking this planet can't lift this weight, even with gear.
@mrmag1cc it might be hard to fathom, but yes indeed that is the case.
Well he wanted to go for 177 kilograms in his third and last attempt in the snatch. But he ran out of time and wasn't allowed to take the lift, sparking protests from his coach.
You don't say!?
Them Quads.....probably the size of my waist
@skirts365 umm....nevermind. I was just simply saying if they didnt do the complete lift it doesnt count.
more than i deadlift. sniffles.
The female records are mostly all held by women. China has ALWAYS been good especially in the lighter classes.
@skirts365 if he didnt lift it, you cant argue it...
I don't get this. Whats the point ? Can someone explain lol... I mean, as i see it its like "YEA, I CAN LIFT THIS" and drop back down, whats the point...
175 WR now
that's an overhead squat
If you're so curious, go try it out for yourself at the gym
Sa is a beast.
lmao his quad sweep so big
this is clean and squat
