Another episode, we are getting spoiled. I can’t wait to go next fall, and Matt I do want to hire you as a guide. But here’s the caveat, I want a 8 hour tour. I am saving up for that.

Well, I’m not a guide, so I can’t charge you. But I’d be happy to take you around if our schedules mesh

@@addressinggettysburg Sickles pulled his corp forward resulting in large holes in his lines. However he was able to slow the confederate assault and inflict casualties while he was then reinforced himself by the 5th corp. I argue that has sickles stayed put he would have not resulted in the reinforcements and he would of been ran over where he was with what like 15k less men? They barely held with the 5th corp troops.
Further without reinforments showing up so the federalists get enough infantry on to little round top? I’m not a 20th Maine fan boy or anything and I could go on another thread an explain why they’re overrated but i mean without Meade rushing reinforments when sickles was out at emmittsburg road area and trostle farm, who gets to little round top to blunt Oats Alabamans and the Texans? Vincent 1st Divison was rushed to the southern end of the field to reinforce sickles and they barely made it to little round top in time. Had sickles stayed put who goes to little round top? My answer is nobody in blue. It wild have been taken from the western side by Mississippians and Texans.
The counter argument is well if sickles doesn’t move out his flanks are protected and he would have been in a stronger position to defend. Which has to be true. But if sickles and the 5th corp reinforments barely and I mean barely held out I have to think sickles by himself back at base of Roundtop would have been run over.
Thank you for responding. I’m an infantry veteran myself of the 10th mountain. This stuff I really Enjoy.
