  • There a lot to love about the popular TV series Outlander. For many its the intense love story between the time travelling medic Clair Randall and the feisty scottish highlander Jamie Frazer. Others may be drawn by the romance associated with 18th Highlander life. Whatever floats your boat, theres one thing for sure - The show is filmed in some pretty stunning locations around Scotland. From imposing stately homes to picturesque Scottish towns, were taking a look at some of the most amazing real life locations from Outlander.

This video is exceptionally well presented and produced. Such a pity that it's number of views does not do credit to the quality. I have never watched Outlander but enjoyed this video. Not least, as my family are the last remaining members of the Scottish Royal Family and direct descendants of King Robert the Bruce. Rannoch, in particular, was one of our ancients seats in Scotland.

Fabulous video. Thanks for putting it together. Carlisle Castle was also used for Wentworth Prison, when Jamie is about to be hung and Black Jack arrived in time to stop the execution.

Monica Malet Thanks very much! Unfortunately I did the video before much of the last series has aired in the UK so missed a few.

Doon Castle not only doubles as Castle Leoch in Outlander but is also Winterfel Castle in Game of Thrones.
Did you mention where the the Versille party scenes from season 2 were filmed?

Doune Castle is also famous from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the castle where the Frenchman taunts King Arthur from the battlements.

Lori Sparks I believe it was used to stand in as one of the buildings in Jamaica, possibly the govenors mansion.

Culross is actually pronounced "Coor-iss" Aberdour is "Aber-dower" and Linlithgow is "Lin-lith-go" apart from that, nice video.
