Stephanie, I'm ashamed to admit that although having lived in Scotland for over 40 years, until now I'd never heard of your village. But after reading up a little, and at the risk of trying to teach my granny to suck eggs, I see that it has some degree of broader significance, at very least in its name. And it turns out his title itself comes from your wee toon! 🙂 Fun fact (well, let's see, shall we): in the early 80s, during what Brits typically refer to as the "Falklands war" when Argentina attempted to secure their claim of sovereignty over the islands, a joke was going round In the high schools of Scotland -- well, in Glasgow anyway; maybe not round your way. Really great. Loved all the comparison photos with the shots from the show - this is how location comparison videos should be done. I live in Central Scotland and have been to many of these locations but not Craigmillar Castle - will make the effort to visit. Great stuff.
I really appreciate the feedback! You will definitely have to make it to Craigmillar Castle. I went there before the Episodes from there aired, but heard they had filmed there. When we went, almost no one was there. You couldn’t fit more than 20 cars in their parking lot. I would expect that a lot more people are going there now.
You have made a fantastic video and that makes me really want to visit the places. It brings back the memories of watching the series. Thank you very much.
so thank you for this video I went to Scotland many years ago in the 70s when i still lived in the UK but I have been living in Australia for 31 years now. But have been to Glen Coe also Culledon moor
Loved your video! There’s so many details and your photos with the exact same angle are incredible! I feel like I just travelled from Canada to Scotland, thank you 😁
As a huge outlander fan, I've been to these locations and more, including Bakers Street (Jamie's print shop) the Glen's, Glen Coe, and culloden Moore in Inverness It's definitely worth visiting, Scotland is beautiful, truly stunning.
Great video but agree about the music. I'm just back from Scotland but didn't get to see any of these places. Having watched most of Outlander, these Scottish locations are some of the best ever used. Voice that with excellent photography and costumes it's very well done.
Great information here and beautiful settings. It’s good to learn where all the important places are in reality! One thing tho ...... there are no ‘O’s in Edinburgh! It’s pronounced Edinbuhruhh ... 👍
I’ve been to the fountain and the hotel they used as Mrs. Baird’s B&B. They look great to see them personally but the way they’ve shown them in the series is even more awesome. It’s the reason why I got hooked to this series earlier. I told myself, I’d like to see that place to see how beautiful it is. And indeed Falkland is beautiful

Amy Thanks for making out time to watch my movies. I so much appreciate all your love and supports. Do hope you like my movies. Keep it up. Much love. ❤💋
Great video, my husband and I live not too far from the locations and have visited most of them. We also met Sam and Cait while they were filming in Dunure Ayrshire.
I enjoyed your video tour and diligence in finding the exact locations where the Outlander scenes were filmed. I wish there is a version without the music though. At times, I had to turn off the sound and use closed captioning, which is a shame since you have a lovely voice for narration.
Impressive reconnaissance. One tip, the reason you couldn’t find the room in the Hotel in Falkland where “Claire” combs her hair is that that “room” was a built set in the studio.
You are correct, however, they did shoot a scene inside the hotel where she is brushing her hair looking into a mirror. She is being watched from outside the hotel by Frank and the ghost. I was hoping to recreate that with my wife, but couldn’t get that room.
Photasma The interior mirror shot was in a set in the sound stage in Cumbernauld. The exterior shot in Falkland that cut to this was a shadow cast onto the curtains of the hotel’s window to simulate “Claire” combing her hair.
If you get a chance, if you have Netflix or another service where you can watch episode one, go to 39:15 of the episode. You will see that you can clearly see Claire combing her hair in the mirror from the outside of the hotel, not just a shadow. I suppose it is possible that they could have set up a green screen or super-imposed that image from the soundstage, not sure. Not trying to get into an argument, but you did have me second guessing my memory of the scene.
Photasma You may be correct. I was the camera operator & I don’t remember her being there for the exterior shot looking up at the window. The interior WAS shot in the sound stage though.
Wow, Andrei! That is awesome that you were one of the camera operators! I definitely appreciate the feedback even more from an expert on the matter. I know you are right about the interior shots being shot on a soundstage. The entire upper level of that hotel was smaller than the room featured in the episode.
You've made an amazing video! I wish I could visit these places! With Outlander, I've learned to love the Scottish accent, the culture, the music (I'm a musician!), the landscapes... everything is so beautiful! And I noticed that at 6:53 your son is wearing a shirt where is written "Rio de Janeiro". I'm from Rio! Have you ever visited Rio? You're gonna love Brasil; we brazillians, and specially we, "cariocas", are a very hospitable people. Hugs from Rio!
I am glad I am not the only one who went behind Midhope to see the old deteriorated buildings. Thanks for sharing this.. good job on the narrative. Did you also go to other sights? Culross was amazing as was Hollyrood house. and Culloden cottage and house.
Sorry about that, I have heard that from a few people. I think it depends on the device you are using because I can hear it on my computer that I edited it on.
The Hill where Graig Na Dun was filmed is just outside the village of Kinloch Rannoch in the Central Highland. Not open to the public but can be clearly seen from the road
@@stephenbrown4211 No it isnt. I think the landowners have put up no entry signs but they are meaningless as there is no trespass law in Scotland. I have been there many times and no one has said anything. I suspect the landowners are English and try to subject the same English laws in Scotland. It doesn't work.
@@stephenbrown4211 Yes I know. I take them down regularly. but the vast majority are English immigrants. They are also prone to taking over local councils and creating so called "Environmental protection groups" designed purely to stop people camping, or fishing in areas that have been free for generations. Most if not all Scottish farmers respect the access laws in Scotland. Immigrants try to change that. It should be fought in every instance.
Very nice video. To get the true dialect see Doune Castle (spoken as Doon); Edinburgh (spoken as Edin burra), Hopetoun (spoken as Hope-ton); Fraser clan (spoken as Fray-zer);

You are so welcome!
so thank you for this video I went to Scotland many years ago in the 70s when i still lived in the UK but I have been living in Australia for 31 years now. But have been to Glen Coe also Culledon moor
Thanks so much! You will have to go back!
Thank you for sharing ❤
You are so welcome
Loved your video! There’s so many details and your photos with the exact same angle are incredible! I feel like I just travelled from Canada to Scotland, thank you 😁
So awesome! Thanks. When I took the photos and video, I didn’t realize at the time how closely they matched up to the show.
Thank you so much🔥 you guys are so lucky to see these places with ur own eyes❤️❤️❤️
You are so welcome!
As a huge outlander fan, I've been to these locations and more, including Bakers Street (Jamie's print shop) the Glen's, Glen Coe, and culloden Moore in Inverness It's definitely worth visiting, Scotland is beautiful, truly stunning.
Thanks for sharing!
Great video but agree about the music. I'm just back from Scotland but didn't get to see any of these places. Having watched most of Outlander, these Scottish locations are some of the best ever used. Voice that with excellent photography and costumes it's very well done.
Thanks. Lesson learned on the music. It was my first video to ever get any sort of notice. I have upgraded mic and other equipment since.
How wonderful it would be to see these old buildings restored.
Couldn’t agree more!
Thanks for great footage. Really enjoyed seeing the locations of filming...very interesting.
Thank you so much!
Thank you very much, this is a fascinating series, I love it, it has been the best thing I have seen, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic video!
Enjoyed every minute of it.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Cheers from León, Guanajuato, México 🇲🇽
Appreciate it. Muchas Gracias!
Thanks for a great film! I've lived in Edinburgh for 20 years & still haven't seen Craigmiller Castle!
Glad you enjoyed it. You will definitely have to make it over to Craigmiller Castle. It is pretty amazing.
Great information here and beautiful settings. It’s good to learn where all the important places are in reality! One thing tho ...... there are no ‘O’s in Edinburgh! It’s pronounced Edinbuhruhh ... 👍
I have heard that. Make’s it sound like it ends in an “A” which it doesn’t have either. Well do better next time.
Couldn’t agree more!
Thanks for sharing your video with all of us, The Outlander is such a wonderful serie

Great video, my husband and I live not too far from the locations and have visited most of them. We also met Sam and Cait while they were filming in Dunure Ayrshire.
Awesome! You are very lucky to live in such a special place!
Wow!!!!!! You were so fortunate to meet Sam and Cait. Did you have photos taken with them??
I enjoyed your video tour and diligence in finding the exact locations where the Outlander scenes were filmed. I wish there is a version without the music though. At times, I had to turn off the sound and use closed captioning, which is a shame since you have a lovely voice for narration.
Hi outlander I'm a big outlander superfan and going on an outlander tour would be a dream vacation for me ,very neat.
Keep an eye out, I will be adding part 2 soon!
Thank you very much for this video of my homeland
i appreciate it .
Glad you enjoyed it!
Outstanding!!! . I appreciate the hard work you have put in here.
Thanks!
WOW That was perfect. I loved! Thanks.
Thank you!
Thank you! That is my wife’s friends son and none of us have been to Brazil. Sounds like a great place to visit!
Excellent job with this video. Helped us relive the series.
Glad to hear it!
I am glad I am not the only one who went behind Midhope to see the old deteriorated buildings. Thanks for sharing this.. good job on the narrative. Did you also go to other sights? Culross was amazing as was Hollyrood house. and Culloden cottage and house.
Glad you enjoyed it. We did go to Hollyrood House. Not the others. Next trip.
I really enjoyed this tour. Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
Great video. Thank you
Thanks so much!
Beautifully preserved
Music got so loud I couldn’t hear what the narrator was saying!
Oh Really
Sam Heughan It was just in certain parts! I had read all the books a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the series!
Sorry about that, I have heard that from a few people. I think it depends on the device you are using because I can hear it on my computer that I edited it on.
no problems with mine. it actually added value to the video :)
Totally agree. I couldn't hear the narration in parts. Very interesting.
Great job finding the film locations and castle I enjoyed it.
Glad you liked it!
I have visited most of the locations. Thank you for rminding them.
Awesome! Glad we could help you remember them!
You did a great job 👏🏽 thank you.
The Hill where Graig Na Dun was filmed is just outside the village of Kinloch Rannoch in the Central Highland. Not open to the public but can be clearly seen from the road
Nowhere in Scotland is closed to the public.
@@ianmacewan9416 well that is. As I said it can be seen from the road
@@stephenbrown4211 No it isnt. I think the landowners have put up no entry signs but they are meaningless as there is no trespass law in Scotland. I have been there many times and no one has said anything. I suspect the landowners are English and try to subject the same English laws in Scotland. It doesn't work.
@@ianmacewan9416 it’s not just English owners. Many foreigners own land in Scotland and they put up no entry signs.
Great vid. I am lucky enough to have been to most of these, living in Scotland I have no excuse not to.
Thanks my wife's best friend lives in Edinburgh, so we will back to capture more once things open up again!
Very nice video. To get the true dialect see Doune Castle (spoken as Doon); Edinburgh (spoken as Edin burra), Hopetoun (spoken as Hope-ton); Fraser clan (spoken as Fray-zer);
Thanks, I have been told that a few times now.
