My heritage comes from Scotland, I’m proud to say !! My dream is to visit someday. My great, great great and further back grandfather was William Trent who came from Inverness to America I believe it was in the mid 1600’s. He was a judge, in the parliament, had a city named after him which is now Trenton, New Jersey. It was originally Trents Town. He achieved so much more. There’s a book in the library about him and the city. What makes me the most proud is being from Scotland, even though I’ve never been there. Such beauty and you know for certain that the people as a whole are genuine and kind, something which is getting hard to find here in the states.
I can echo all that you say about being a descendant from Scotland. I feel proud. But I can't quite figure where the links are directly like you have. I was adopted and it is the DNA research that has pointed me there. I am just tickled that there was a blind fiddler way long ago...because I was a professional violinist!
Ron Moore is perfect producer for this series and all the work done through it makes it truly special. The benefit to the country is evident and this video shows it well. I would love to take Mike’s your if I’m ever luck enough to make it there.
Scotland is one of the most beautiful country I’ve seen with all the rain it’ has charm and beauty I’ve took Scotland home for sure I’ve made it my home love it
I've now been to Scotland 4 times, I've included it every time I've traveled overseas. Seeing the roads I've driven along several times just gives you an 'awe' moment. I've done two driving holidays now in a campervan and both times have stopped overnight in the carpark at Kyleakin. Last trip I had a travel bud and when we heard live music coming from the Haakon Bar we decided to go investigate. We told ourselves we'd have one pint then back to the van to cook dinner, 4 pints each later and closing hour, chuckle, we finally staggered back to van and proceeded to cook some chicken and stir fry veggies because you can't get a kebab in Kyleakin, chuckle. It's an Aussie thing after a booze up. Great vid and I'm an Outlander fan.
What great video thanks for this,& OL is such a marvellous TV show very grateful for it,Sam H. is Jamie personified, lovely to see the scenery & look into history!
I can hardly believe that so much of this history is no longer taught in Scottish schools. I am part Scottish but all American and this wasn't taught to us either, so it is a real joy to have the opportunity to learn a lot about this time period in such a remarkable work. When I was doing my genealogy, I found I had a mutation that specifically started with Robert the Bruce - mind you, my family background isn't high-born so it was the wrong side of the blanket - but still.
the Frasers have become all the rage with Outlander fans...I'm a Fraser descendant so it is interesting to see season 2 during the Jacobite rebellion and Culloden Mhor since Clan Fraser really did loose many men there amongst other clans
little side note: I love that Ron loves people and weather! I think the same about LA and all the desert regions (I live in San Diego). We do not have enough rain either ...
In the third book voyager, my home town Arbroath gets a mention a few times, it will be interesting to see if they actually film there when the time comes...
Well, I'm so darned glad that the Irish have enough sense to pronounce it correctly as Gaelic, not Gallic. And the Gaelic language was brought from Ireland to Scotland about the 5th century AD. "Gallic" does refer to France and the French as in "a gallic shrug".
I have just begun ancestry research and found there is DNA at Eilean Donan! I swoon to see it every chance I get... I feel easily drawn in to all that I can read and see of Scotland. I wish I could afford a trip...
👏thank you for sharing this video with the world. If this doesn't convince you to visit bonnie Scottland and or fall in love with 😍Jamie Fraser😍.... I donno what will! 😁😁 but it only means you are missing out of something more than SPECTACULAR!🙌
I have been dreaming of visiting Scotland for a few years now, but after seeing the first season of Outlander, I am looking to book a trip. Does anyone know of a group where we can go together since we share the same interest! I live in New Jersey.
I went at the end of May, the 23rd to the 29th. Five day tour of western Highlands and Isle of Skye. Edinburgh for three days which was not enough. I lucked out with great sunny and warm weather the whole week. I Love Scotland! I would go back anytime!
We went in Sept 18. With a Trafalgar tour group. 47 on board a bus. They booked hotels.. most meals . Lots of castles and Outlander sites. Actually called Outlander tours by Trafalgar. I know they are doing them in 2019 book early. Sells out fast. From Ontario Canada about $5000 canadian dollars. Well worth it!
@@juliareadscottishpiperandh4861 Thank you.I love the bagpipes music and men in kilts. the history of the Scottish people fighting for freedom is sad. Freedom is very precious. Haggis and meat pies are delicious! Scotland is a gem ❤️
The scenes being filmed in these bits from Outlander was Angus, Willie, Murtagh, Claire and Rupert's rescue of Jamie from Wentworth Prison and BlackJack's clutches. I'm wondering if Sam was naked under that tartan? Okay mind, quit it.
It would be great if in the extra bits on the DVDs you took the Gallic speeches and taught them to us, starting with the one when Murtach brings Clair into the hut where she fixed Jamie's dislocated shoulder. It would probably sell more DVDs as well
My gggg grandfather was born in a castle in Scotland. I think it was Graten or something similar, he was arrested and tried in England as a Jacobite rebel and sentenced to hang, later given the option to go to the "New World" He did, landed in Williamsburg, VA H lived in what was once the Christmas apple house adjacent to the Capitol. Anyway, I love watching videos because I'll never get to go.
I have recently found DNA matches that seem to trace into Canada from Scotland... What do ya say, any Hastings among your brood? I'm born and bred in Pittsburgh, PA...
there is many a funny story about the Islay toll bridge...appearantly farmers didn't have to pay the toll when they were transporting livestock across, so people took to loading a sheep into the back of their cars before crossing...
Hi Wanessa, There is an excellent tour guide, he is one of the originals who started the guided tours for outlander at the start of the filming and has not only all the cast but Diana Gabaldon, if you contact him please tell him that Lorraine founder of the forum ad Facebook group sent you, his Facebook account is facebook.com/gerry.mcmullan.10?fref=ts and his company is www.carnegietouring.co.uk/ my Facebook group is mentioned in the video outlander TV books facebook.com/groups/Outlanderforum/

Since the story is narrated from Claires perspective & she didnt understand the language, they wanted the viewers to feel the same way & not understand what was being said. I wish they'd subtitle those parts at least in the Scottish Gaelic so we could google it.
As an English women from the Shaw Clan I feel a bit insulted that an English Man is telling the hard working Scottish dancers and performers what to do so he keeps making Millions while the Scottish performers properly make just enough to get get by.
Absolutely fantastic on every level! Scotland is extremely beautiful.

June Murray Hi. why do they say "Gallic" in "Outlander" rather than "Gaelic" (gay lick)??? "Gallic" refers to France/French things surely?
+Kathryn Gaul no it's the right pronouncement in Scotland and it's Scotland's language.
Well, I'm so darned glad that the Irish have enough sense to pronounce it correctly as Gaelic, not Gallic. And the Gaelic language was brought from Ireland to Scotland about the 5th century AD. "Gallic" does refer to France and the French as in "a gallic shrug".
the Scottish pronunciation of gaelic is gallic
And considering that Scottish Gaelic and Irish are different languages it makes it much easier
5:47 ok why is this man Mike ,NOT in outlander! Years ago, I wanted to go to Scotland and Ireland because of the landscape! It's beautiful!
I have lived here all my life and it never fails to make me so proud of my homeland Scotland 🏴

Even as I write, Britain is leaving the EU. An enormous event in history. Not all Brits or Scots are crazy about the change.
and its still going - all been messed up! (though tbh leaving in the first place was a bad idea)
I hope Ron Moore returns for Season 8, but I don't think he will.
As with much of Europe, Scotland abandoned why people are drawn to it to embrace multi-culturalism.
Brubeck Desmond england is to blame. They tried to hide scotland’s history because of all the horrors that the English committed there
