I woul’ve been so mad at myself for missing them filming so close to home. In my case, I went to Scotland not because of Outlander, but because the place intrigued me so much. It seemed like a fairytale place. But doing the research before my visit, I felt curious about the Outlander Universe and started watching. I had the opportunity of visiting many of the places you mention in the video and my Outlander obsession began. I even brought some souvenirs home as a gift to my sister (who’s a big fan) and now I don’t know to part with them. 😭🤣 Now I’m reading the books while every second I wish I could be there in Scotland again.

After I graduated high school, as a present, my grandparents took me on a tour to Scotland. We didn’t go all the way to the highlands (sadly), but visited and stayed in Aberfeldy and Loch Lomond. While there, we also decided to go towards a place where they’d filmed for outlander and ended up going to Hopetoun estate and where they filmed Lallybroch, too! But I just wanted to add; Hopetoun estate is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. In itself, the architecture and surroundings of the estate are beautiful, the road leading up to the estate is already so magical, but within Hopetoun is also so lovely! The tour that guided us through the building was so lovely and told us all about the rich history that this estate has, and I fell in love with the nearly magical history and stories that this family has
    Definitely worth a visit

I have been to many of those locations, either 1955-1958 or 1962. I have been to many historic battlefields in the U.S. but Culloden is the only one that really hit me with a very deep emotional feeling. I learned last year that my birth father was a Stuart. I may have been feeling some of my ancestors.

My husband and I went almost 2 years ago now... visited all the castles you mentioned and we hired a car. In my opinion it was the best way only because you can plan your trip to your satisfaction and not be restricted by time. And yes driving on the other side of the road takes getting used to but not difficult, and the drivers there are very kind. But whatever you choose to do I can tell you from experience that it is well worth the visit! I hope to go back some day and visit more beautiful locations that I didn't get to see. 10:09 DO NOT GO TO DUNOON CASTLE. It is NOT an Outlander film location and consists of a few stones on top of a mound. Shaun meant DUNURE which is located on the east coast of the Firth of Clyde in Ayrshire. This is where they shot the harbour and the Selkie Island scenes. Not saying DUNOON is not a nice place to visit but it is on the other side of the water from DUNURE and, if travelling from Glasgow, the usual way to DUNOON is to catch a ferry at Gourock (although you may drive the long way around through some nice Highland scenery). DUNURE is more easily accessible by car without having to consider taking a ferry journey.

Very good commentary, need more of the historic sites and less of the camera on you. Must be a Scottish thing though, there is a tour guide site that does pretty much the same thing, picture of her talking while she walks around the site and very little picture of the site itself. Had a great time there seeing the sites 4 years ago.

I think America has quite a strong connection with Scotland. I have been to both Edinburgh and Stirling. Marvelous, both cities. For my family Another visit to Scotland is definitely on our to do list.

This is al great but for someone who is not scottisch not everything makes sence, and please do not tell me I must, I do not " must" anything, I do what I want not what anyone else want me so see. So there you have it. But thank you for your advice. For me it is time to book a trip around the world. That is what I want to do. However to anyone with scottisch heritage, bless you an enjoy the great story of scotland

Not my favorite class but we all had to take American history.
