I was lucky enough to start in the industry learning on the 5088 console at Full Sail University, as well as the API Vision and SSL Duality. 5088 is still my favorite of any console I’ve touched so far.
@@Zakster90 I am thinking about getting a 16 channel. I would only load in a few of the channels and grow into it. I have a fair amount of outboard gear> I should prob find a full sail grad to train me up. thanks for the epic input man
EDIT: I just watched the Green Day 5088 video on the Rupert Neve TH-cam channel. That gives you all the reason you need to have a console like this. AMAZING!!!
"Not a 3yr purchase but a lifetime purchase." Considering it cost as much as some people's home, I wonder if 10yr-25yr payment plan will be available lol
@@michaelrovner4165 it can if your tracking through shelford channels analog bus summing and running high end adc/dac, this consols beautiful but paying for a lot of features most people wont need id rather just have a couple of their shelford channels, the summing satalite and the master bus compressor and mix on a ssl desk or protools.
I am eternally confused by console terminology when guys like this explain it. “Effects return modules.” “Aux masters.” “Selections to the mutes.” For those of us who grew up on computers I have no idea why these console gatekeepers continue to act like what they’re saying somehow makes sense - they seem to be talking to people who already know what they mean, but for the rest of us it all looks unnecessary and overly complex compared to a simple computer and DAW setup.
Ummmm... All of that terminology is exactly how you would describe whats going on ITB. There's nothing different in the basic functionality of this console or the cheapest Mackie. There is no reason to not have that knowledge.
So what you’re saying is, you don’t use some of the functionality of your DAW. I don’t use all of these things all the time either but some people run complex sessions. Some do it ITB, some hybrid. No wrong way to create music.
you don't use aux sends for effects routing or creating bus in the box? Most daws are just mimicing console workflows its pretty much the same thing on either side just on a console all the options are visible.

Is it really that badass?! Between this and an api 1608. Can’t seem to make up my
Mind

I need this in my life.
I need one of these for my bedroom studio. 😉
Hows the maintenance of the 5088, are there any overall things to look out for... Is there a more current look up close and under the hood..
Love the tiny GR meters in the compressors.
If I had this, i'd never leave the house again. Sweetwater is the bestest!☺👍
It wouldn't even matter if I ever made any music. I could just turn it on and look at it.
This is clearly an old video from when the 5088 first came out. Are they reuploading it because Sweetwater Studios just got one of these consoles?
Hope it can be use in sound system to
I’m sold!!!
Optional accessory! 05:29. Ill buy that.
Awesome is all I have to say
This console costs more than my house.
Wow … maybe Christmas. 🙂
Pricey. But sounds amazing
Awesome
i understand sweetwater is never going to answer this, but is this really necessary?
At this point it's just nice to see.
it is absolutly necessary. you can't make music without it. buy it.
@@charlesrocks i agree.
Oh wow I don’t want to know the price point
Wowzers
I really like the story to Ruperts "Pina' Colada Song....."Escape"..... If you like clean signal paaaths.......... and custom transformers.
Only $6150 a channel, what a bargain.
$100,000. No thank you. I rather get 12 Shelford channels and a MBC.
The 5088 is better value for money tbh
@@channeloram I don’t think so.
@@channeloram $6k and some change PER CHANNEL??? WUT?
I would buy it, but he keeps saying "counsole."
I kept hearing cunhole.
Ah, let me just check the ol' bank account... aaaand I'm spent.
200,000 for the 32 channel damn I wish I could afford it's dope tho 🔥🔥🔥🔥😎👍
HOW TO MAKE MUSIC
Wow
I could sell my house but two of these. Or buy one and another house.
give me one bro c'mon.
can I do a 960 month financing? I might can afford it XD
Way too much for 2021 producers in the box is taking over with a little bit of analog stuff
Who uses consoles anymore? Once you get it into the digital domain (with good preamps, of course) you can do ANYTHING!
yeah...but it doesn't sound like this...not even close....

Is the analogue noisy junk worth $120.000? You still have to go to digital at the end. It sound better? What nobody says so?
yup...ITB...In The Box....this neve stuff is pricey, and belongs in the previous century....just plain silly....like Biplanes.....
😂
Because you can get ITB without using ‘silly’ analog hardware or expensive studio hardware…
It just happens!
No thanks
