Mephisto Odyssey - Static-X - Crash Announcement 2024! I'm currently working with Static-X on a single release of the song Crash, which Wayne, Koichi and I (under my band Mephisto Odyssey) recorded for a movie "Batman Beyond; Return of the Joker) in 2000. Later the song appeared on our full length release, "The Deep Red Connection", and was added to their album "Beneath, Between Beyond", but never released as a single. Those of you who are long time fans of Static-X may already know I've had a long time friendship (since 1999) with the band. Our band was signed to Warner Bros. at the same time and we were introduced by our mutual A & R rep Troy Wallace. My band Mephisto Odyssey did many remixes for Static-X, including Push it, Cold, and Love Dump to name a few. In fact it was our mix of their song Love Dump that appeared in the sound track to the film "Valentine." I was never satisfied with the original mix of "Crash." The mix engineer that was hired by WB was excellent but stylistically it was out of his wheel house and with only 1/2 a day in the studio we just didn't have the time to work with him to flesh the mix out properly. It was no one's fault, it was purely circumstantial. I'm really glad to finally be revisiting the original multitracks after all these years. I finished the new mix from the original master recording earlier this year (mastered by Maor Applebaum), and it is on god mode compared to the original from 2000. Koichi Fukuda, Tony Campos and Ken Jay are working on a Static-X full band version of the song. Both the original and Static-X band version will have new completely re-edited 4k videos made from the original 35mm film footage that was shot by Len Wiseman (Underworld). WB was able to provide me with 10 film canisters worth of film footage that they digitized in 4k for me in March. A big thanks to WB for their support on this project, they've been amazing. I'm looking forward to working on the new video edits and seeing the footage after all these years. There will be some other remix contributions to the Crash single release (TBA), we're talking to various people who are interested. The single + videos will be made available both digitally (through WB) and on physical media. We're planning on a 25 year anniversary release in 2025 if we can get everything together in time; so far we're on track to do so. In conjunction with the forthcoming single release of Crash, I am also rebooting my band Mephisto Odyssey in tandem. This only makes sense given the single will most likely be a co-release. The reboot of MO will include a new website and social media, followed by new material and possible live dates. Thank you and feel free to share this with anyone who may be interested - Mikael Johnston (Mephisto Odyssey) poptwist.studio
And this piece of music right here, cemented this soundtrack in my mind for life! Great freaking movie, the whole soundtrack is great, but THIS song makes the movie and soundtrack hit on a WHOLE different level. I hope you are resting in peace Wayne Static. Or that you are a least rocking out!
"Terry? while I was gone... did you made the Batcave into a night-club?" "of course not, bruce. why would you even think that?..." "because one of the Bats is Trippin' on ECSTASY!!!"
Miss the early 2000s with industrial and nu metal. This was my childhood cartoon and this song is one of those songs that got me into metal. If it weren't for the soundtrack of this show I probably wouldn't be listening to any of the bands I listen to today like Blood Stain Child, Fail Emotions, Suicide Silence, Zardonic, Metallica, Pantera, Bloodsimple, Korn, Slipknot, Season Of Ghosts, Oceano, and the list goes one. Thank you Wayne Static. RIP.
90's were better for industrial and metal. Celldweller, Stabbing Westward, Marilyn Manson, KMFDM, Pitchshifter, Filter, Godflesh, Emperor, Cradle of Filth, Iced Earth, Sepultura, Sevendust, Coal Chamber and so many more.
Russell Gainsford nowadays, we have annoying rap songs that everyone keeps playing and talks about their "mixtapes" being "fire", lyrics I don't understand, and blah blah blah.... It's always Kanye West, Beyonce, And all the other lame excuses of musicians.
Two of my favorite things in the whole world StaticX + Batman Beyond = Pure Epicness. Came here for Wayne Static, Left for Wayne Static RIP Bruddah, you'll be missed
Same here, tho I have seen them slightly before they released the album. xD Been loving everything he/they did ever since, including Pighammer. :3 I also think that Wayne was much underrated generally, not to say he wasn't very humble and modest about himself, not a mindless fanatic (tho pretty close :P) and saying they should put have put Static-X on top of everything, but they were great and actually innovating band and he was definitely a very ingenious person. Very sad, that they died. Both him and Terra.
The sound of my high school days, those were the best times ever and Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker was an awesome movie which had had a kickass soundtrack. Great memories.

Oh shit.....I learned about this video now, I must say that I would never have expected Wayne with a hairstyle like this and the way of singing different from his usual way. It's gorgeous :D
That would be incredibly awesome, but without the original talent and production/direction it would be only a shadow of itself. I still believe Batman Beyond was one of the greatest animated series of all time. It wasn't a time slot filler. It was truly a work of art.
The fact that Batman Beyond went from just a simple Batman spinoff to eventually becoming a part of the long running Batman comic story is a testament to how well executed the series was. Terry McGinnis and his world were adapted into an official comic story line. That’s an honor very few spinoff series if any ever get graced with. The guys who made Batman Beyond and the Batman animated series are genuine legends to have achieved everything that they did.
I loved Batman Beyond when I was in Jr. High school (late 90's) & this music video with scenes from Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (also considering it's also on the DVD & bluray copies of the movie).
Let's be honest, the best thing about this movie was Mark Hamill being at his absolute *best* (and most screwed up) playing the Joker. No superhero cartoons will ever beat the Bruce Timm glory days DCAU - this was *the* peak of western animation ladies and gentlemen!
Everything about this video screams late 90s/early 2000s XD from the nu-metal sound, the gothic Matrix-like clothing, the rave atmosphere, the women wearing crop-tops, the singer wearing a nose-ring etc. Takes me back to my childhood. I miss this kind of music.
Once Bruce Wayne passes away and leaves Wayne Manor to Terry, this is what will happen on Fridays. 🤭 Seriously though, the 90s and early 2000s were awesome times to grow up. Looking back I really miss it.
The best way to describe this genre of music, would be industrial metal with electro fusion influence sprinkled in. These guys were definitely ahead of the times back when they started. Of course, right around the time they were starting Rob Zombie had released hellbilly deluxe. And that had the same idea, only with more of a techno tone to it.
2022? i remember watching this and enjoying it so much, i was maybe under 10, and the video dvd how to draw the batmans head/mask.. learned it instantly... good times, they passed sadly
@@beaubowss6813 hell yes it did! Via satellite radio. Can't remember who the provider was at the time but it's exactly how I found the name of the song. Ran over to the read the song title on the receiver

Imagine if Batman Beyond was his 3rd movie idea instead of Batman Triumphant or Batman Begins. The dayglow Gotham that he had for his movies would've been PERFECT for a Batman Beyond movie.
