Every single instrument in Korn had a distinctive sound. You knew exactly who you were listening to immediately. That clunky, slinky bass, the hard firecracker pop of David's snare and funky beat, the filthy, whining 7 strings of Head and Munky, and of course, Jon's distinctive vocals. Perfect chemistry in a band.

So i showed up to the venue an hour early, and they told me i had missed the entire meet and greet. The show was amazing but i still felt dissapointed. So as i was leaving, I got lucky enough to randomly meet Brian, when he came out to sign autographs after the show. He had me write my name down, and i put my brothers down as well since he had never been to a concert, and he was the one who got me into korn. Facts, this is the first time I have listened to this song in over 15 years and I knew it word for word. I finally got around to adding my teenage playlist to my midlife playlist.. and it's amazing how much Korn lyrics have stuck with me.

Korn is one of those artists that aren’t the technically superior one, or the heaviest or most thoughtful one. But there is just something about Korn that makes them memorable and still relevant after 30 years of their existence. Korn just works.
they are the most well rounded. their sound (especially their first 4 albums) took the most interesting things from multiple genres and mashed them together in the best way possible. I only wish their more recent work took risks and experimented more like their early work.
After probably one of the worst years in my life, I came to realize that no matter the crap that life throws at me, I still GOT THE LIFE. I danced. And will continue to do so. Enjoy it while you can. Reminded me of my youth, and at 38 years, two kids later, I am grateful for the lessons learned. Thank you Korn for being a cornerstone in my life.
yeah, i remember that I couldnt fit myself under any style because I loved all of them so much, portishead, korn, prodigy, cypress hill, oasis, metallica, ratm, marilyn manson, wu tang clan, bjork, radiohead... a lot of good stuff.
I discovered Korn a couple months after my dad died and it perfectly encapsulated everything I felt at that moment in time, and this band also got me through Covid lockdown. Long live this freakishly wonderful band
90s are boring because the cars and technology and did you know in 2021 we actually have flying cars but the reason why you dont see the flying cars around is because they are expensive
For those of you wanting the meaning to the song Jonathan said it better himself: "It's about how everything's always handed to me, how I look up to God and say I don't want this anymore. Like I want something more out of life than all this. And I've got everything I really need, but sometimes I don't like it and I don't know how to explain it. I have to sit through the songs more to actually get into what I write. I really and truly know the meanings of the songs... almost. But it's like I'm haunted by demons that influence my writing. It's a give or take of that. I mean I love being a rock star, I love all that it entails, but I hate all the pressure and all the bulls--t's that involved. And I'm asking God, you know, take this away and make me happy. But he's telling me, 'hey, you got the life. You get to see the world, you get to do this, you get to be in a great big band.' My mindset when I was writing the song was that I was really down on everything. It's like I'm sick of this bulls--t, all the stress and the pressure. But if it were all gone, I'd be in even more hell."

Being an ADD person helps while working in the ER. Which means I always have a song in my head. This one is in the “rotation”, to the point where the person next to me has noticed when I do 3 quick foot taps after the 1st verse.
The backing vocals never get any credit, and they really aren't anything revolutionary, just something super simple, but the song just wouldn't be the same without them.
@@UMepher you know, I don’t know if I’ve ever paid attention to the backing vocals! I’m gonna go do that right now haha! Also, I’ve always loved the scat stuff Jonathan does, makes the song really unique
It's weird how my tastes have changed. I was always a die hard killswitch engage and in flames type of person and still am but, I never would have given korn a chance back in the day and now I just get it somehow. Like it's been unlocked for me. I think playing guitar has allowed me to appreciate more types of writing and genuinely enjoy and understand them.
Munky said that they were very nervous when releasing this song, especially as a single. And I totally understand. It's so different and strange in its production and grooves to be labelled a "metal" song. But, it's so unique and beautiful because of it.
They were never metal to be clear. Love the shit outta old korn, their songwriting is tremendous... Not one of them practiced enough to play metal haha
I watched this song on much music when it first dropped about 20 years ago, this shit still hits like it's fresh. Thank you Korn for a lifetime of the very best. I'm in tears watching this and understanding how much time has gone by. My fav band of all time.
This song is so legendary. I remember when it first came out when i was like 15 and there was nothing that sounded like korn. From the bass to the grooves with the vocals that spoke to me coming from a broken home. I loved it and still do. Then i got to see them live when i was 16 during this time and the performance was the best ive ever seen till this day.
I wish I wasn’t so lonely and depressed. I have no friends literally but listening to Korn has always helped me get though the constant bullying that still goes on into my adulthood.
I know this will mean nothing to you but I hope that you'll go through this and maybe sometime the opinion from the other people won't matter to you anymore. I wish you sm luck on your way and try to ignore it
I feel you on this. It really helps by keeping yourself/mind busy. Find different ways to do so. Especially things you enjoy. Try hitting the gym while listening to Korn!! Maybe reading, listening to podcasts about your interests, trying new recipes at home, learning something new etc etc.

Korn is one of those artists that aren’t the technically superior one, or the heaviest or most thoughtful one. But there is just something about Korn that makes them memorable and still relevant after 30 years of their existence. Korn just works.
They're not the "best" anything, but they are the "perfect" combo of everything
they are the most well rounded. their sound (especially their first 4 albums) took the most interesting things from multiple genres and mashed them together in the best way possible.
I only wish their more recent work took risks and experimented more like their early work.

Now we are like John Spartan..
90s are boring because the cars and technology and did you know in 2021 we actually have flying cars but the reason why you dont see the flying cars around is because they are expensive
For those of you wanting the meaning to the song Jonathan said it better himself:
"It's about how everything's always handed to me, how I look up to God and say I don't want this anymore. You get to see the world, you get to do this, you get to be in a great big band.'
My mindset when I was writing the song was that I was really down on everything. It's like I'm sick of this bulls--t, all the stress and the pressure. But if it were all gone, I'd be in even more hell."

I’ve always loved the composition of this song. From the drums to the click of the bass.
Being an ADD person helps while working in the ER. Which means I always have a song in my head. This one is in the “rotation”, to the point where the person next to me has noticed when I do 3 quick foot taps after the 1st verse.
@@Soma2710 Such a great song to have on rotation! Good luck friend!
The backing vocals never get any credit, and they really aren't anything revolutionary, just something super simple, but the song just wouldn't be the same without them.
