Both are great. But I played the original B&W version first (well...green tone), so it holds more nostalgia in the fact that they were able to create such lush landscapes even with no color. You can't go wrong with either.
to me, on a game such as this, that is played on a smaller scale, the extra textures they added, other than the colouring itself, made it less confortable to play
i try to make the gameplay the most synchronous possible, the audio is harder and most times i end up letting both audios play at the same time, even tough i know its annoying or distracting, helps to reduce the copyright claims on audio :S im very sorry
if they kept the original textures and just coloured it, it wouldnt be so unconfortable to play, with all the added details and textures, specialy for a game played on a small scale/screen

I kinda prefer the look of the original greenish gameboy version, it wasn't designed with colour in mind
It wasn't necessary to let both soundtracks play slightly out of sync
