  • HI! We're back with Part 14 of the Fury rebuild! This time I'll be joined by Agent 223 and we'll get the rear 1/4 window repaired and fitting while the quarter panel is off... Then, it's time to pull the rear clip again and get it ready to weld on for the final time. I'll also start fitting all of the repair panels to the quarter and tack them in place before taking the whole thing off again to finish the welding and fitting.
I hope you enjoy our new feature "Dealer's Choice", haha! An all-white BMW M3 will kick off this super-serious look at some iconic "dealer" rigs of the 80's!
Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments! We do appreciate that anyone would take the time to leave us a note. If you would like to help keep our channel going, you can get a sticker or a hat or a coffee mug at:

      Dear Scott.
Good grief! Restoring the (inner) mechanism stuff of a car door/ window is a nightmare usually. And you said right at the beginning of this video something like: Let's do it just for fun! I simply couldn't believe my ears. But you let it look like as if it was nothing!
O.K., I see, the mechanism will never be more accessible than without the sheet panel.
Nevertheless, if it wasn't proofed before:
Now it's absolutely and finally clear,
you are definitely a man without fear!
      2) The rest of the vid shows extremely well done welding and adjusting again and as always!
      3) Congrats to your friend... uh... beg your pardon... agent of course. A very clean solid goid looking iconic BMW M3. They are super rare and super expensive in Germany respectively Europe. Especially in this condition.
      4) Did I spot a grey 2CV with cool black Francine in it? She seems to like it. Aren't Poodles originally coming from France? Then maybe this affinity results out of this context?
Best regards, all the best luck and health to all involved (no matter if 2 or 4 feet or even more like the black bug on the alpinewhite BMW).

Hey guys. You probably remember me telling you that you found my grandpa's Plymouth plaza.......... Well he told me more about it and that car you found wasn't his car. His car had a different inline 6 than that one. But my grandpa told me to tell you guys "Thank you saving all of these old cars, you are really doing the *old timer* people a favor by saving and working on these old cars even if they aren't worth anything".

Just going back and watching some early '60 Fury episodes after the reveal this week. I'm constantly reminded of one of the things that makes this show great, the hilarious dialogue. Scott and Jim joking about bear scratches, jugs of stop leak, running the aircon with the windows down, I'm in stitches once again. I freakin' love this show!

That's how I found good channels like this one. I've been pulling myself out of a hole since 2014. I came for the Fury, stayed for the BMW M3. Dealer's choice LOL - They're worth about $50k these days. My E34 is only 2K though, the only thing in common is the alpine weiss II colour. Love the view of the window winder too. I know how hard they are to adjust and seal just right as well because I used to have a mazda rx4 hard-top

WOW ! What a great amount of engineering and care/style went into cars back then. Canada , Europe and the U.S.A. had auto-company competition at an all time high back then so the lucky customer got to see and buy great cars made during the 1950's , 1960's and most of the 1970's.

Amazing to see how this is coming along, back when cars were what they were, cars. American classics. They were so good down the road. The ride was the right height. You could see the end of the hood, and knew about where your front bumper was, and if you had any doubts, you could hang your head out the window and see both bumpers. They were all a dream to drive.

Great video Scott!! I really enjoyed watching the window mechanism section. I laughed at Tom wanting his royalties and I wonder if he knows how important he is to the channel. I agree on the fishing tapes out of the deck. It took me right back to high school in an instant. Lastly that car will be downright dangerous because it will be such a distraction everywhere you take it. You just don't see those old finned beauties anywhere except in books. I hope the summer is a great time and you can get out and enjoy her and all your hard work!!

I love how the parts come off, like a jigsaw puzzle. How the quarter came off, then the whole rear pan. It really makes the car look smaller with basicly 25 to 30 percent of the body missing.
Then it all goes back together better then when it came off. "Goes together like a drawer" Lol.

In that biography of Virgil Exner published by Veloce, they say about the 1960 Fury : "The most dubious styling was seen on the 1960 Plymouth. Shown here in convertible form, the tail fins reached higher and the scalloped front end looked disjointed." I totally disagree. These fins are the most elegant ones ever seen on a car and the profile of the Fury is perfectly balanced. It deserves all the pain you're going through to restore it.

Hard top window mechanisms are especially troublesome to fit. If that car were a 2-door post you could just say fuck it and grease it up and throw it in and it'd just ride in the channels up and down.
Man that quarter panel sure is coming along nicely. As far as real work goes that has been 90% of the fabrication that you've done on this car so far. Can't wait to see you whistle in that trunk floor and button the rear end of the body work up.

Another awesome installment! Something about the glamour shots of the window rolling up and down slowly reminded me of the bay doors on the Death Star opening or closing. And the sound deadener glop flashed me back to age 13, dorking around on my '52 Ford. I decided the gas tank needed the undercoating completely removed (why?!). I quickly got sick of trying to have at it with a putty knife, and grabbed the air chisel. Tore a 1.5" hole in it in short order.

    Hi Scott,
I think hundreds of years ago in a past life, you must have been a master armorer who made armor, swords and spears by hand for a king. You're that good.
I've got a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder with a factory cassette deck that sometimes does the same can't-get-the-cassette-out thing. I just hit the eject button about 100 times over the course of several days and one fine day, my cassette came out. Now, I'm afraid to put one in... LOL

Looks great Scot! I use a 1 inch wide scraper to remove the tar crud. You know, the ones with the yellow handle. I sometimes break a handle or two or chip the blade.

Man, that rear window is a seriously cool piece of engineering! Some engineer really earned his money back then!

I'm loving it! It's hard to imagine all of the hours you'll have into the Fury when you get it all done. But, I think it's going to be well worth every minute of it! You are truly a master of what I hope isn't a dying art. You're skill and patientce is surpassed by no one I know of. Thank you for taking us along on this journey with you! I'll be anxiously awaiting the next installment. Until then, God Bless, and keep up the amazing work!

Thanks so much for this. Got a '60 myself (a Buick, actually) with a passenger power window that only rolls down partway and I've been trying to figure out what's up with it. This makes things much clearer, even though the mechanism is a bit different.

Hooray for closing music and it’s obverse! Ask me sometime about Chryslers window regulator guy,
Thomas Rhombus. An eccentric, pious guy. He finally threw in the towel and retired when windows did not roll down completely.

I love the action on that rear quarter window, it's little things like that that make classic cars so much fun. The quarter really shaped up nicely!

The devil is in the details. Enjoyed going back and seeing this part of the project. As Scott said the window engineering is pretty amazing. Scott said at 23:51 "I'm excited to have it this far." Its an amazing image of this thrice spliced Fury when you look at the end state as they are tuning it up for the final details four years later. Just another daily driver. Ashley 2 M3 Bemmers. Its an emerging illness.
