  • Is this your next charcoal grill? Watch me unpack and assemble Oklahoma Joe's Judge Charcoal Grill. Instructions say it's a two-person job, but was easy for me to do solo.

    Looks like a great grill.... got mine delivered today... in the box I had two sets of shelfs..2 thermonitors.. 2 vent side plate... BUT NO Wheels or grate lifter. lol Oklahoma joe's customer service was great.... wheels on the way... I didn't report a missing grate lifter, but I think it might also be in the box with the wheels. They told me to keep the extra shelfs..side vent ...thermonitor.. and basket hangers.... keep all that as freebie extras.. NOW ya can't beat that with a stick. So I'm happy...I'll wait on construction until the wheels show up. Good Video

      Thank you! Wow, that one must of been boxed up on a Friday afternoon or Monday morning. LOL! That's good to hear that customer service was on it. That extra thermometer might come in handy. About that Grill Lifter tool, I recommend picking up an extra one on Amazon. I use two to make moving the grates easier. I'll leave a link to my amazon store at the end of this. Check my channel for more cooks on the Judge. I've working on a new project this weekend. Thanks for watching! www.amazon.com/shop/tonytonebbq

    Finally got all my parts... I had to reorder again because they left out the hinge pins... lol. So I told them also about the grate lifter missing so they sent all that. Now it's all together and seems to be a great grill. I will be adding some gasket sealer to the top lid. One tip.. I do... I add a peice of wide foil to the ash drawer... then just when it's cold... remove the ash drawer completely and bring up the edges of the foil long ways and crimp them and then close the ends..... and ash drawer will stay nice for a long long time I think. Easy Easy way to clean out the ash drawer.

    Does the Judge have a grease trap or a place for the grease to drip into a bucket, or does it just go into the ash trey? Thanks

    • @TonyToneBBQ
      @TonyToneBBQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question Tdawg! There is no grease trap or bucket. Drippings from the meat fall directly into the coals burning below, or through into the ash pan. The ash pan is the same dimensions as the cooking surface so all grease strips into it. Let me know if you need to know anything else.

    Great setup video. At its deepest point, how many inches from charcoal grate to cooking grate? What about at its highest point?

    • @TonyToneBBQ
      @TonyToneBBQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a really great question, no pun intended. With the fire grate lowered as far as it will go, the distance from the fire grate to the top side of the cooking grate is 11 and 1/4 inches. With the fire grate raised to it's highest setting, the distance between the fire grate and the top of the cooking grate is 3 inches. Thanks for watching and thank you for your question!

    I have been looking at this grill for some time now. I like the look and the amount of cooking space. One thing I was curious about is, what is the width from the front of the grill to the back of the grill? I ask because doing kebabs in this direction, I could remove the grates entirely and do my kebabs directly over the fire without having to rest them on the grate, getting a nice char. I am unsure of the distance and wondering if it would be possible. TY!

    • @TonyToneBBQ
      @TonyToneBBQ  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Jason! Thanks for the great question! The distance between the front and back edges is about 17 and 3/4-inch. You'd need a skewer of between 17 and 17 and 1/2-inch to fit perfectly. I decided to make a TH-cam Short to answer your question. Make sure you're subscribed with Notifications turned on and you'll be sure to see it. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

    I have the same grill. Your smoke stack should be installed through the lid, then secured and your bottom wood shelf is upside down. It should be a basket. I’ve smoked some nice pieces of meat on my judge. Enjoy 😉

    is this grill good quality? or cheap shit thats just gonna rust away and break?? thanks

    • @TonyToneBBQ
      @TonyToneBBQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! I'm going to be making a video soon that will show how the Judge has held up after 2 years of heavy use and being left outside during a couple of very wet winters. The simple answer is... the Judge is good quality, damn good quality for the money. No rust issues. Nothing broken. Stay tuned. Hopefully I have a video up in a couple of weeks. I plan on showing up close detail and how it performs cooking... maybe a Tomahawk or TriTip or chicken. We'll see! Thanks for watching!

    hey do you have the grates upside down? Or is that the right way? I keep seeing them both ways.

    • @TonyToneBBQ
      @TonyToneBBQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Daniel! Good question! From looking carefully at the instructions, it doesn't seem to say that either way is correct. I prefer the flat sides of the grills to be face up and the points facing down. With the flat side up, smaller items are less likely to fall through the grill, and the grill is much easier to clean. I always leave my grill as greasy and dirty as possible after a cook, and then get it nice and hot the next time I use it before putting food on it, all I have to do is scrape it with a flat grill scraper. If the points are facing up, it's a pain in the neck cleaning all that crud out between each slot. So really it's just user preference. Thanks for watching and thanks for your question! Hope that helps.

      The flat side of the grates are for grilling and the point side of the grates are for Searing.
