Thank you SO much for this tutorial! My aunt made these for absolutely everybody and our annual Christmas gift of these slippers was always looked forward to. Unfortunately, she passed away far too young (47) and she took the instructions with her to the grave. That was 20 years ago and, in recognition of her passing, I have been looking on-line for these specific slippers so I can now carry on the tradition. You have fulfilled this dream and I thank you for that. Aunt Verna's legend will carry on.
Similar with me..mine are mostly step grandchildren..never ever call them that…so I’ll be teaching the eldest how to do this as their biological grandmother was a knitter..I haven’t knitted in38 years..but started with you..sewing I’m doing well! Thank you..I’ll be teaching in English how to do these..I learnt in Spanish and german😊
My dear mom made these exact slippers for everyone for Christmas gifts. She passed away 6 years ago and I went on looking for the tutorial for these exact ones as she made them. Thanks Patti, her legacy will carry on.
I've been knitting for about 40 years and this is still extremely appealing as a project! Perfect house slippers for a midwestern winter! I'll make mine from my own handspun wool. :)
My grandmother taught me to knit when I was around 10 years old during the 1960's. I made these exact slippers for EVERYONE one Christmas. I didn't realize it was such a popular pattern. I have picked up knitting needles in over 50 years but you've inspired me to make a pair, thanks!
Those are the best memories of grammas teaching us what they know. That will be a fun project for you with the memories to go along with you while you pick up those needles again and knit the slippers.
My grandma taught me to crochet but the one item she used to knit for her family were these slippers. Since she passed away I taught myself to knit. When I came across your video it made my heart so happy!!! I’m going to make my family these for Christmas this year so we all get to have a little gift from my grandma!!! Thank you so much!!!
My great grandma used to make slippers almost exactly like these!!! I was always so happy when she would make them for me, she passed away when I was 13. I can’t wait to teach my daughters how to make these. Thanks so much for sharing!!
My grandmother used to make these for us as a kid. It was the only kind of slippers I ever wore and then of course, we grow up. She passed away some time ago now, and I've never known how to make these until this very moment. Thank you so soooooo much for bringing this back into my life. I cannot thank you enough.
OMG so happy to find this pattern again! Made these for my children and grandchildren but forgot about them...now I can get going on them for my great grandchildren!!! Thanks so much!

What a blessing! I used to make these slippers years ago when my children were young. Now I'm a grandmother of 11 and I've been thinking about this pattern and how I might get my hands on it. Bless you for sharing, I really appreciate it and so will my grandchildren. Arohanui from New Zealand.
I like the way you have close caption instead of talking through the video, it seems easier to understand what's going on this way. Thanks for posting this video
Its hard to please everyone for sure. I had another comment and they wanted me to talk through the video. LOL. So thank you for taking the time to comment and to let me know that the wording worked for you!
I am 74 & becamr a widow a little over 3 Thanksgivings 3 months shy of 50 years of marriage. I loved making these for my daughter ( now 53) . But 5hen I moved 2 years ago to Montenegro in the Adriatic sea. Was yrying to remember how to make these but was having problems & tonight decided yo Google slipper patterns & was ecstatic to see your pattern printed!!! Thank you so very much. I have here with.me a large plastic covered trash can that I filled with big yarn skeins placed in the shipping container so am already working on my first slipper & will make some for Christmas gifts. You are a true BLESSING. Have a BLESSED 🎄!
I am somewhat advanced beginner in knitting as I picked up the craft to honour my late grandmother who was famed for her beautiful knits in her town. When I opened this video today, tears flooded my eyes. I remembered the red slippers she made for me, the stash of slippers in her hall for all visitors... Memories came flooding in and I raided my stash, found lovely wool and decided to knit these and call them granny's slippers. Thank you very much for the tutorial but also for bringing granny back for a moment ❤️
Aaahhh. Such a lovely message. Thank you for sharing. Yes, these slippers were loved by our grandmothers and great grand mothers. So nice to carry on the traditions.
Thank you for posting the written instructions. I used to have this pattern a long time ago but the book it was published in was destroyed. I'm very happy to have the pattern again!
I cannot thank you enough for the pattern and walking this new by thru making these slippers. For more than 40 years my grandmother made a pair of these slipper every year for each of her 4 children and their spouses and each of her 15 grandkids, and the great grand kids, and the great, great grandchildren. We lost her almost 3 years ago and it has been so hard without her. I am so excited to remember her they your video!
Thank you for posting! Love the tutorial style. My mother did this exact model ! My first pair was done overnight. I remember mother casting on as I kissed her and my aunt goodnight. Next morning, on the bed side table was a beautiful ski blue pair of sleepers ornated with giant pom-pom (~2")on top done by my aunt. I was 8 years old , I still remember. Today, I am learning to knit and these will be my project. Thanks again
Yes you can! Because I already had the yarn I wanted to use it up. Also I find that there is an abundance of this medium weight yarn and is low in price so the best to demonstrate and teach with.
My neighbour gave us these slippers every year for Christmas. We all loved them and called then “Sophie slippers”. She passed away a few years ago and I have always wanted to make more. I have looked for her pattern but there was always something “not quite the same”. This is it. I am so excited to make them. Your video is soooo easy to follow. Thanks.
ohmygoodness.....,my mom taught me to knit these in the 60's.........everyone got them for Christmas that year.....love these slippers........thanks so much for this video.........
Our family called these Nana slippers because we always got them for Christmas presents from ...yep... Nana. I started knitting about 25 years after Nana passed (for therapy as an ex-smoker) and had to guess how to make them from an old photo. I have been making them for years but they never seemed "quite right". After watching this video I am so excited!! I am going to start a new pair tonight with your instructions and I know they will be PERFECT!! YAY!!!
I have watched many tutorial videos and this is the best I've ever seen. Wow, so many details, you can't go wrong. Looking forward to watching others from you. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this video. My grandmother made these for us all for years and even tried to teach me to knit when I was 9, but at that time I had places to go and people to annoy and didn't learn. I must have learn enough, though, because when I was an adult and wanted to learn - I learned from a book. I had to search around for a pattern and always came close but not close enough for me to continue making her slippers for the family, so I made it up and eventually figured it out. I always had trouble with the toe so thank you for that missing part of my pattern. The thing that made Grandma's slippers so, so special was that she added an extra outer sole that could be removed and replaced when it got a hole in it. Our job was to return the slippers to Grandma before there was a hole on the inside sole and she would replace the outside sole to make them good as new. I have continued that with my family. When new they were very slippery and I remember getting a running start towards the hallway and then skidding the length of the hallway. It became a Christmas morning tradition and competition to see who could slide the furthest down the hallway. Also as my mother has gotten older her slippers are too slick for her to safely use, so I have added strips of hot glue to the bottom so her feet won't slide out from under her. I also have sized down the pattern for baby booties that uses my leftover yarn stash and I add jingle bells for baby's amusement. Grandma passed away 40 years ago, but I still have a pair of these slippers that she made for me. I do not wear them on a regular basis as they are too precious to me. I keep them on a special shelf along side some other things she made and some very special crocheted thing made by my other grandmother. I grew up very lucky have one grandmother who knitted and one who crocheted. They also both sewed. My great-grandmother and my mother were and are quilters, so I had a well rounded upbringing. I am in the process of teaching my daughter-in-law to knit (I had 2 sons.) I taught both my boys to at least sew enough to repair their own clothes and taught the younger to knit and crochet a little. The older boy is handicapped and does not have enough control over his fine motor skills, but he tried.
Aaahhhh. Thank you for sharing your story and a very touching one. We are so blessed to have mothers and grandmothers who knit and sew for us and the thought of bringing those skills down through the family members is truly so special. Enjoy those slippers for many more years to come!
So glad I found this pattern. I would sit with my Mother and Grandmother as a young child making these.im 60 now and its been so long ago I'd forgotten how. Thanks SO much. This has made my day as well as bringing up memories that brought happy tears. I'm planning on teaching my Grandchildren as well.
This tutorial is easy to follow for a beginner like me. Thanks a lot for such an easy pattern. It looks difficult, but you made it simple and elegant! This will be my next project!
Thank you so much for showing us how to knit these slippers. My mom use to make them for my sisters and I. I have made a couple before but quite a while ago. They mean a lot to me my mom passed away of bone cancer in 2003 so for Christmas I thought I would make each of my sisters a pair. So again thank you with all my heart.
Thank you so much! This video was exactly what I needed. My grandma has made these slippers for all of us our entire lives. I wanted to make her a pair as a surprise. I spent a week deciphering her written directions and was very unclear about how to finish the toe. I wish I would have fou this video earlier!!
I am now 'new to the midwest' and this is my new love for this winter, which is forecasted to be colder and stormier this year because of global weather. I 😘 love these crafty additions to patterns. To say the least, I can't wait to make a pair and I have a new love for the artist's work.
Who needs words when your video is so very clear without! Thank you so much for the video, these slippers will make a nice addition to my Christmas knitting stash! Also excellent to have at hand for visitors to wear!
Thanks Corinne for taking the time the write your comment. Good to know that the video was clear without the words. Have fun knitting up lots of slippers!
The video was indeed great and you inspired me enough that I am knitting the slippers right now sipping a nice warm tea looking out at very grey skies here in England. Thank you again.
Sounds like a very nice relaxing day in England. It’s grey here in Canada today too. I think this is the coolest thing being able to connect with people all over the world. It puts a big smile on my face! Have a great day and thanks so much for your support!
I have been look Ll k er for this pattern. Made my first pair in high school in the 70's. Finally lost one of them in a move. The one I have is thread bare in places. My favorite slippers. Cant wait to make them again. Thank you.
Thank u soo much I did it 😙😙😙 I am 12 and i did it all by myself there is quite alot of steps but over all it was easy Thank you for sharing this idea 😁
Well done “different is beautiful”. I am 75 & tried this and had so many mistakes to start but I persevered and managed fine, Patty - you did a great job with the video! I ended up putting a safety pin on the side I had the purl as I kept forgetting. My slippers were too small but I will make adjustments with my next pair. Never to old to learn something new!
Well good for you for your perserverence! We are never to old to try anything! Good luck on your next pair. You will have it mastered for the next slippers!
Brilliant. First time I have seen a pattern written out , beneath the video instead of having to click and click again and sometimes still not finding it ! Fantastic video. Well Done.
Just like you, I have come across videos that ask you to go to their website for the pattern and end up never finding the pattern. That’s exactly why I added the pattern to the description box below the video. Trying to make it simple and easy for everyone. Thanks for your comment!
,Thanks so much for the pattern and the video. My sweet. deceased mother-in-law, made a pair for everyone in the family , every year, for Christmas. Miss her.
Thank you so much for sharing such a fabulous pattern. I've just made 4 pairs. They are so quick and so practical. I added a pompom for the female pairs and it is just the icing on the cake!
Just started knitting; my grandmother used to make slippers like that for us when we were kids! And I just did my first pair with this video! THANK YOU! My sister and brother are getting their pair for Christmas, my son wants his now hahaha. Excellent video!!!!!!
It was so fun to see someone knitting these! The slipper pattern is the very first item I learned to knit at age four by constantly sitting next to my mother as she was ALWAYS knitting! People did not believe that a four year old could knit but I was always on display knitting.....while waiting in the high school office - for my high school student babysitter to get out of her last class of the day. Students would give me candy if I would show them I could knit!!! This was a very popular pattern in the 50s!
I've been looking for this pattern for several decades. Like Janet below, I learned the pattern in the 60s and made them for everyone on my gift list. I want to revisit the pattern and make them for my sister's grandchildren. thanks
Same here! My grandmother would have a big basket full of slippers at Christmas and we all grabbed a few pairs. Cannot wait to make them for next year. Thank you for sharing this!!
Patti, watching your beautiful videos calms Me l just can't get enough. You are an angel with the hands of a fairy God Bless You. I made these slippers and they turned out great.
Ahhh I really love these! I wanna make them as it’s very cold here during the winter. These would be a perfect Xmas gift for my mom and my kids I might even be “selfish” and make myself a pair Thank you for the clear tutorial!
Amazing! I haven't knitted in 15+ years so I forget EVERYTHING! This is going to be my first foray back into Yarnland, and now I'm off to the store to buy some yarn!
I’ve made one slipper so far for myself, but I found the toe box area too tight for me. The length is good but I’m wondering if I don’t do the decrease stitches, would this result in a more square / larger toe box? That way my toes don’t feel too tight? Going to try again and I’ll undo the first slipper and use the yarn for my toddler’s pair of slippers :) I bought two huge balls of yarn to make matching slippers for the family. I also got some puffy Fabric paint as I’ve heard it’s good to provide some grip on the bottom (and the pattern I draw on can help us differentiate whose slippers are whose). I’ll do Pom poms too :)
Excellent video. I really appreciate having the pattern written out too. And , as much as you have a lovely voice, it is quite refreshing not to have someone talking all the way through! Thanks again.
Look at the stitches. Knit the knits and purl the purls. The knit stitches will look like little v's. The purl stitches will look like a turtleneck sweater.
I have been searching high and low for a pattern like this.....these are what my grandmother used to make me for Christmas every year! I didn’t appreciate them then, they were just slippers.....yeah right. Thanks so much! You made my Christmas, Christmas again!
I noticed that you knit with your right hand but you do the sewing with your left hand. I am somewhat ampedexdrious (spelling??) but only for some things, not all. Nice video but wish you talked it through. I have been making these slippers since 1964 but didn't for a long time & had trouble getting them just right so it is so nice to have the right pattern again & the well done video as well. Thank you!!!
When I was very young I asked a friends mother to teach me how to knit. She knew I was a leftie and said sorry but I will only teach you how to knit right handed. So from then I have always knit right handed. So funny that you noticed that. I have heard that a lot of viewers turn off the sound on videos and just watch for sub titles. Everyone likes something different so it’s hard to please the masses. So I change it up here and there. Crazy huh how the tried and true patterns just hang in there. I’ve made so many slippers as gifts. Love them! Thanks for your support!
Thanks for the tutorial. My mom who passed away 6 years ago, used to do a lot of knitting and crochet and she knitted the same pattern bed shoes for me which are a bit worn out now! Only difference was that she made them with single yarn instead of doubling it. They were softer and more snug to wear at night. Also easier to knit I guess! Anyways I will try to make ones similar to hers, and take tips from your tutorial. Thanks❤
Thank you for the subtitles, it meant I could follow without the music, I had Gilbert and Sullivan playing. So many videos add music and I just switch the video off but as you have subtitles I could continue to follow your video, thank you.
My mum made them for all her kids, grandkids, great grandies. She passed away without any of us getting the pattern. Thank you so so much for this. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
These are AMAZING!! My Grandma taught me how to make them...but with fentax. But wool is so much softer and I never even thought about darning them inside out!! Thank you so much for that! BRILLIANT! I will be watching your tutorial several time over!
Thank you for this! My grandma used to make these for my family, but she has arthritis and can't knit anymore. She doesn't remember this pattern, but I have a pair of slippers to look at and they're just like this except without doubling the yarn! I'm so excited to make these and more for our whole family as we've worn ours out. Thanks!
It’s so heart warming to hear that you are carrying on the tradition of these slippers. I like the doubling up on the yarn. It makes a more solid slipper. Enjoy knitting!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. It was so clear and detailed i immediately had a go and got a lovely pair of clippers. They look nothing like yours but very warm and cosy lol. I'm a 40 y/o male from England, UK and i've been knitting on and off since i was a young boy when my Grandmother taught me how. I've only been able to knit scarves until now but these slippers have really opened my mind to knitting projects. If you knit socks i would live to see a video on that. Keep knitting all.
I love this pattern. My grandmother used to make these in the 60`s , 70`s ish. Passed on the pattern to me and now this is my go to pattern for a quick, easy slipper to knit. I love changing the yarn up to different fibers also, try some of the fuzzy yarns etc, so incredibly soft. Just a tip for maybe some beg, but you can use small round stitch markers instead of having to count over each time also. Happy knitting 😊
I DID MADE MY FIRST BED SLIPPERS.I SAID I WAS GOING TO BUY ONE BUT THEN I SAID NOW WHY WASTE MONEY WHILE THERE'S A PANDEMIC. AND I KNIT AND CROCHET, BUT KNITTING IS MY FAVOURITE. I STARTED KNITTING FROM I WAS 11 YEARS OLD NOW AM IN AGE . BUT I DID LEARN YOUR WAY OF KNITTING MY FIRST BED SLIPPERS AND I FINISHED IT 11/14/2020. I WILL SEND OUT A PICTURE OF MY HAND MADE BED SLIPPERS. THANKS AGAIN IT WAS VERY EASY AND LIKE MY FIRST HAND MADE BED SLIPPERS. BYE HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
Love your comment Debra! Knitting is so relaxing and rewarding. Would love to see your bed slippers! Happy holidays to you too! It’s just around the corner! Always comes fast.
Adding a third piece of yarn for the bottom part in between the purl stitches Makes it a bit more solid and adds some padding, I love this pattern thank you so much!
Terrific video.... and without the “chatter.” For a very novice knitter, I found the pattern easy and straight forward... I knit my first pair in one day and am now hooked! These are just like the “skids” Meme used to make!
The graphic way you present this is such an invitation to get started. I have tried to comprehend this type of simple pattern from reading it, and for some reason was sure it would turn out dorky because of the simplicity. But wow you really brought it to life for someone like me who needs to see things to grasp the progress of how it is structured. I have so many stash yarns that I can turn into lovely gifts. I am thinking of so many pretty combos as I have some art yarns, sequin yarns and things I have hand dyed where I want to feature the yarn, not the pattern. I am a lifetime knitter but sometimes just get stuck in the pattern words and not realize its actually this simple!
Well I am very happy that I have inspired you to knit up lots of beautiful slippers. I’m sure they will be gorgeous with all your saved yarn. Make sure the yarn is acrylic and not wool. Would not want them to shrink up on you in the wash.
@@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts actually I only use natural fibers ... I read a book by Brian Clemente Director of Hippocrates Healing Center in West Palm Beach Fl and he said that acrylic and nylon and polyamide etc offgas the same as mercury does in our teeth and we cannot wash it out or get rid of the subtle fumes ... very interesting, being a health nut ... anyway I am careful washing many slippers I have made of wool, some of them I deliberately felted to fit better ... I love the snuggly feeling of wool on my feet even in summer especially with the a/c on. I love your clear teaching style and have subscribed of course!
I figured you would have known but you never know so I put it out there. I here you on the more natural choices. Interesting research. Always nice if you can go natural for sure. Enjoy your knitting!
My first ever experience knitting anything else but a scarf! I did a few mistakes, but all in all, it was very easy to follow (and fairly easy to reproduce, given my lack of coordination). Now for the second foot!
I'm most def knitting these as soon as I can. I have only been knitting about a month, but I think I can make these. Very clear directions. Thank you SO much.
I am an absolute beginner. This video is so simple, yet the design is a bit complex for me but the way its taught is brilliant and very easy to follow. Wow! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for this awesome and easy to follow pattern! 😃 I only made one slipper in less than a day. I fractured my foot about a month ago, and only have 2 pairs of socks that will fit over the ace bandage I have to wear 24/7. I have some extra yarn left over from other projects, so I plan on making more in different colors to get me through the cold weather ahead! 😂Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
I’m so glad that the slippers are working for your fractured foot. I suffer from gout now and then and I couldn’t live without my slippers. I can get them on and I can slide my foot along the floor as lifting a gout foot is very painful. Hope you heal up soon!
Thanks so much for this video. I have searching for this pattern, as I’ve misplaced my pattern here and it’s time to be knotting these here in Aussie. It’s so cold and we all need new ones made. 🙏🙏👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you VERY MUCH 🥰 my grandma used to knit them but tend to forget because of Alzheimer, so I put her this video and she can now knit them again 🥺❤️❤️❤️

My great grandma who recently passed always made these slippers and it was everyone’s favorite winter gift
aw my aunt also always knitted everyone slippers for Christmas and passed away and I want to start that tradition again

Same story for my Grandma! I am looking forward to trying my hand at making these. ❤️
Lots of our grammas loved these slippers. Enjoy knitting up a pair or two or three.
I've been knitting for about 40 years and this is still extremely appealing as a project! Perfect house slippers for a midwestern winter! I'll make mine from my own handspun wool. :)
I love quick little projects like this too! Enjoy! Lucky you to have homespun wool!
Love that, one of my Aunt's made me slippers and now I'm going to try, wish me luck 😅
i remember this pattern from when i learned to knit, in the late 60s. it used to be a standard handout. thank you so very much for bringing it back.
You are so welcome! Yes it’s been around for a long time.
Ahhhh, what a sweet idea for your grandma to be remembered.
Enjoy knitting your cherished slippers for everyone.
My great grandma used to make slippers almost exactly like these!!! I was always so happy when she would make them for me, she passed away when I was 13. I can’t wait to teach my daughters how to make these. Thanks so much for sharing!!

OMG so happy to find this pattern again! Made these for my children and grandchildren but forgot about them...now I can get going on them for my great grandchildren!!! Thanks so much!
Yeah! Glad you found me and the slippers!
I learned to knit at a nearly free class when I was 20. Life gave me the skill to only do a couple sleepers and a booties for my coming baby. I dropped the hobby not being able to afford the wool and eventually began crochet which required less concentration on my part. This thanksgiving my grandson suffered cardiac arrest that was Covid related. On Christmas Eve, I picked up yarn and knitting needles and started your slippers I had done in the late 60s. It took more concentration and I did a few rows at a time to fill my sadness and to concentrate on other than our loss. Thank you for your no side effects medicine.
May you have a blessed New Year.
So sorry to hear of your loss. Very sad news. I’m glad that the slippers have given you some relief from sadness.
Thankyou, my grandmother made these and I always wanted to learn but never did before she passed, hope to keep the tradition.
So nice to keep family traditions going. These slippers are great for that.
What a blessing! I used to make these slippers years ago when my children were young. Now I'm a grandmother of 11 and I've been thinking about this pattern and how I might get my hands on it. Bless you for sharing, I really appreciate it and so will my grandchildren. Arohanui from New Zealand.

Love it! I was in High School when I was taught to knit and made these very same slippers! Now 50 plus years and 100s of items I still love it!!!
These slippers are classic for sure!

Good memories of grand mother’s are the best. Well maybe someday soon you will be able to watch the video and learn how to knit these slippers.
Thank you for posting! Love the tutorial style.
My mother did this exact model !

Nice boots thank you for sharing but instead of doubling the wool wouldn’t it be best to use a thicker fluffier wool instead?
Yes you can! Because I already had the yarn I wanted to use it up. Also I find that there is an abundance of this medium weight yarn and is low in price so the best to demonstrate and teach with.
My neighbour gave us these slippers every year for Christmas. We all loved them and called then “Sophie slippers”. She passed away a few years ago and I have always wanted to make more. I have looked for her pattern but there was always something “not quite the same”. This is it. I am so excited to make them. Your video is soooo easy to follow. Thanks.
Loved your story. Glad you found me and you can continue to have your favourite memorable slippers.
ohmygoodness.....,my mom taught me to knit these in the 60's.........everyone got them for Christmas that year.....love these slippers........thanks so much for this video.........
I know crazy heh! Fun to bring back the good old days!

Don’t like the distracting music. Would rather you talk.

Yes thanks
Our family called these Nana slippers because we always got them for Christmas presents from ...yep... Nana. I started knitting about 25 years after Nana passed (for therapy as an ex-smoker) and had to guess how to make them from an old photo. I have been making them for years but they never seemed "quite right". After watching this video I am so excited!! I am going to start a new pair tonight with your instructions and I know they will be PERFECT!! YAY!!!
Love these stories. So happy you will now be able to knit the perfect Nana slippers. Enjoy!
I have watched many tutorial videos and this is the best I've ever seen. Wow, so many details, you can't go wrong. Looking forward to watching others from you. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching! Glad you are enjoying my videos!
This is a great video! I love how you showed everything clearly and slowly. Such a great design as well!

Thanks for sharing your heart warming story. So glad you found me too. Enjoy knitting the slippers.
This tutorial is easy to follow for a beginner like me. Thanks a lot for such an easy pattern. It looks difficult, but you made it simple and elegant! This will be my next project!
Ahhh. Perfect! Glad you found it easy to follow along. Have fun knitting your slippers.
Aaahh. Sorry for your loss. It’s a wonderful way to carry on a tradition and memories.
Thank you so much! This video was exactly what I needed. My grandma has made these slippers for all of us our entire lives. I wanted to make her a pair as a surprise. I spent a week deciphering her written directions and was very unclear about how to finish the toe. I wish I would have fou this video earlier!!
Ahhh! That is so sweet that you are going to knit a pair for her now. I’m sure she will be so pleased!
I knitted these exact slippers in the 70's my great grandmother taught me the pattern so glad to see this one. ty
It brings back a lot of memories for lots of us.
Very clear instructions!
My Nonna used to make everyone in the family a pair for Christmas and these are exactly the same ones!
I am now 'new to the midwest' and this is my new love for this winter, which is forecasted to be colder and stormier this year because of global weather. I 😘 love these crafty additions to patterns. To say the least, I can't wait to make a pair and I have a new love for the artist's work.
Wonderful! Thanks so much and enjoy knitting up lots of cozy slippers!
Thank you.
So glad you found me and you can knit some more slippers!
Thank u soo much
I did it 😙😙😙
I am 12 and i did it all by myself there is quite alot of steps but over all it was easy
Thank you for sharing this idea 😁
Well done! I’m glad your were able to follow my instructions and found it easy!
Crafty Patti thank u soo much🎈🎈🎈🎈
different is beautiful 9
Same, I already made some for my aunt and now I'm making another pair for my other aunt! BTW Im 12 too
Im also 12 and my nana is trying to teach me but I mucked up and forgot how to do it
Well done “different is beautiful”.
Thankyou so much. Was asked to make slippers for elderly folks.
Perfect! Glad you found me!
This was the most perfect video ever 🥺 Once I perfect one I’m definitely going to make a ton more. Thank you!
Yeah! GlD your enjoying the knitted slippers.
,Thanks so much for the pattern and the video. My sweet. deceased mother-in-law, made a pair for everyone in the family , every year, for Christmas. Miss her.
Your very welcome. So glad you have something to remember her by. You will enjoy your slippers even more now.
Thank you so much for sharing such a fabulous pattern. I've just made 4 pairs. They are so quick and so practical. I added a pompom for the female pairs and it is just the icing on the cake!
That’s wonderful. Thanks for letting me know. I have some with Pompoms too!
Just started knitting; my grandmother used to make slippers like that for us when we were kids! And I just did my first pair with this video! THANK YOU! My sister and brother are getting their pair for Christmas, my son wants his now hahaha. Excellent video!!!!!!
Aahh! That’s wonderful. It’s so nice to keep the tradition going. Sounds like you will be knitting up lots of slippers!
My mother used to make these for me 😍 Thank you for the tutorial!
Yes, they are very popular. Your very welcome!
Thanks for the story. Yes they are retro slippers for sure!
This is the best slipper pattern I’ve seen so far, sure do look cozy.
And they make wonderful gifts. I have knitted many pairs over the years!
Mom Grandma slippers

And they are great for sliding across hardwood floors!
My mother inlaw would always, every year never miss, make us all some of these slippers....I loved them. Thank for sharing. : )
Theses slippers have warmed the hearts and toes for many of us for sure!
thank you sooo much for this tutorial! it was really simple and easy to follow, about to make a start on my second slipper now :)
Yeah! Glad you are having success knitting your slippers!
I've been looking for this pattern for several decades. Like Janet below, I learned the pattern in the 60s and made them for everyone on my gift list. I want to revisit the pattern and make them for my sister's grandchildren. thanks
Glad you found me! Enjoy knitting up some slippers!
Same here! My grandmother would have a big basket full of slippers at Christmas and we all grabbed a few pairs. Cannot wait to make them for next year. Thank you for sharing this!!
Love this slipper....will definitely try this one!! Thank you for this great video!
Your welcome and thks for watching!
Patti, watching your beautiful videos calms Me l just can't get enough. You are an angel with the hands of a fairy God Bless You. I made these slippers and they turned out great.
Aahh such a beautiful comment. Thank you!
Ahhh I really love these! I wanna make them as it’s very cold here during the winter.
These would be a perfect Xmas gift for my mom and my kids
I might even be “selfish” and make myself a pair
Thank you for the clear tutorial!
Enjoy knitting lots of slippers for everyone.
@@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Great video, esay to follow. Thankyou so much. 👍👋
Glad you found it easy to follow!
Amazing! I haven't knitted in 15+ years so I forget EVERYTHING! This is going to be my first foray back into Yarnland, and now I'm off to the store to buy some yarn!
Oh that’s great that your getting back into knitting.
A couple ideas. Make the length of the slipper longer or try using the mens sizing for the next one which will give you a wider slipper.
These are perfect - thank you for such a straightforward video 👍🏻
Thank you for this, your video is very clear for a beginner. I love how you knit English style ,so much easier to follow than continental.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video. I really appreciate having the pattern written out too. And , as much as you have a lovely voice, it is quite refreshing not to have someone talking all the way through! Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the pattern and the tutorial was excellent! It made it so easy to follow along. Perfect!
You are so welcome!
How do you keep track of the purl one knit one I keep messing up and have to start over.
Say it to yourself while you are knitting K1, P1, over and over again until it comes natural for you. It will with practice.
Look at the stitches. Knit the knits and purl the purls. The knit stitches will look like little v's. The purl stitches will look like a turtleneck sweater.
Look at the stitches. KniT on the smooTh and pUrl on the bUmps. Note the capital letters! Hope that helps.
Thanks for sharing your cute msg on how to remember what is a knit and what is a purl.
I Think you are a 'Pearl' gem for showing us a great warm woolen slippers for Winters nights....Thank you...
Hahaha. I was so upset when I saw that typo. Of course we all now it is purl. Thanks for watching and enjoying knitting up lots of cozy slippers.
THANK YOU SO MUCH I ALWAYS WANT TO LEARN 😁
Great pattern, l thought l would never find it! Thanx ever so much!😊👋
I have been searching high and low for a pattern like this.....these are what my grandmother used to make me for Christmas every year! I didn’t appreciate them then, they were just slippers.....yeah right. Thanks so much! You made my Christmas, Christmas again!
Glad you found me and thanks for the touching story. Your grandmother’s slippers will now be appreciated by all. Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the tutorial and pattern. I am a new knitter and going to try and make these for my daughter who is coming to visit.
You are very welcome. I’m sure your daughter will love a hand knitted pair of slippers from her mom!
thank you so much for this easy-to-follow video and the beautiful results!
Pattern please , not below
Thanks for the tutorial. My mom who passed away 6 years ago, used to do a lot of knitting and crochet and she knitted the same pattern bed shoes for me which are a bit worn out now! Only difference was that she made them with single yarn instead of doubling it. They were softer and more snug to wear at night. Also easier to knit I guess! Anyways I will try to make ones similar to hers, and take tips from your tutorial. Thanks❤
So nice to have things that are hand made that remind us of our loved ones. Enjoy knitting your slippers!
pUrl. Pearls are what you find in oysters!!!
I know. Lol. Didn’t catch spell check changing my Purls to Pearls. Once I published I couldn’t correct it. Urg!

Crafty Patti 😅 ahh, that’s how it goes huh? It’s all good though. 👍🏼
I think these slippers are 'pearls' (they could be gems, but that doesn't work).
Awesome tutorial! Any one with basic knowledge of knitting can follow you very easily!❤❤❤❤
Perfect! Thanks for your supportive comment!
Thank you for the subtitles, it meant I could follow without the music, I had Gilbert and Sullivan playing. So many videos add music and I just switch the video off but as you have subtitles I could continue to follow your video, thank you.
No problem 😊
My mum made them for all her kids, grandkids, great grandies. She passed away without any of us getting the pattern. Thank you so so much for this. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad you found me and you can continue to knit the slippers.
These are AMAZING!! My Grandma taught me how to make them...but with fentax. But wool is so much softer and I never even thought about darning them inside out!! Thank you so much for that! BRILLIANT! I will be watching your tutorial several time over!
Good old grammas. They are the best! I remember using fentex too! Oh my. I think that just aged me. Thanks for watching!
@@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Can you use bulky wool yarn instead of doubling up? Thank you
Yes you can. I demonstrated with the 4 ply as it is the easiest to find.
Thanks for sharing your story. I’m happy that your enjoying knitting the slippers. A fun project. I don’t have a video on knitting socks.
I love your pattern for knitted slippers, the retro version. Thank you
Glad you love it!
They are a great go to slipper for sure! Yes stitch markers are good too. Thks for watching and thanks for your support!

I liked and subscribe without watching your tutorial first just because of your good personality
Aahh your so sweet. Thank you!
Adding a third piece of yarn for the bottom part in between the purl stitches Makes it a bit more solid and adds some padding, I love this pattern thank you so much!
Sounds great!
Terrific video.... and without the “chatter.” For a very novice knitter, I found the pattern easy and straight forward... I knit my first pair in one day and am now hooked! These are just like the “skids” Meme used to make!
Perfect! Glad you liked the video and have made your first pair of slippers!
Thank you so much for the clear explanations! I'm knitting these slippers as Christmas gifts❣️❣️❣️
Wonderful!

Glad you liked the pace!
Hello! Made a couple of them and it is so easy! Easy peasy! Love this!!
Yeah! Enjoy knitting more!
I have made these slippers before and boy, do I wish I'd had your great video! Very well done.
Ahhh. Thanks Julie for the supportive comment!
My first ever experience knitting anything else but a scarf! I did a few mistakes, but all in all, it was very easy to follow (and fairly easy to reproduce, given my lack of coordination). Now for the second foot!
Oh that’s great! Well done! Thanks for your comment!
I'm thinking Christmas gifts here. Perfect idea!
Perfect!
Thank you very much for this pattern. I wrote down all the pattern and will start making a pair tomorrow.. You are a great knitter.
Thanks Linda. Enjoy making your slippers.
Such an easy tutorial to follow. I shall make these tomorrow. Thank you. A joy to watch
Thanks Jackie. Enjoy knitting your slippers.
These are fantastic! I am a beginner knitter and have now made several pairs. Thank you so much!
That’s great! Glad you enjoyed knitting lots of these slippers!
Thank you for this tutorial, really loved it, I even made mine and turned just fine.
Perfect! Glad you like your knitted slippers!
I'm most def knitting these as soon as I can. I have only been knitting about a month, but I think I can make these. Very clear directions. Thank you SO much.
Your very welcome!
can you use any cast on method? Im having a hard time following that step
Yes. Use the cast on you prefer.
I am an absolute beginner. This video is so simple, yet the design is a bit complex for me but the way its taught is brilliant and very easy to follow. Wow! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful comment! So glad you were able to follow the instructions easily.
Fantastic. Got a pair of these from charity shop & have been looking for exact pattern for ages.
Yeah! Now you can knit up a bunch of them!
Thank you for sharing. I might try it out for my next slippers knitting project. It seems simple and easy :)
Yes. I’m sure you can knit these slippers. Enjoy!
@@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Thank you! 😊
Trying these as my second knitting project for my fiance :) i hope they turn out good
Ohh that’s great! Enjoy knitting the slippers!
Thanks so much for this video. I have searching for this pattern, as I’ve misplaced my pattern here and it’s time to be knotting these here in Aussie. It’s so cold and we all need new ones made. 🙏🙏👍🏻👍🏻
