International Scout 80 Fuel Pump Rebuild and Joyride

- The Scout's finally a runner again! Back around December I noticed a lot of gas in the oil, so this week I rebuilt the fuel pump, and replaced the needle and seat in the carburetor.

Love the shot glass!
A shot glass! What could be more “make it work” Alaska than that? For my drive down the Alcan I was nervous about rocks flying up and breaking it so I swapped mine out for one with no glass. I should have just kept a shot glass in the glove box. 👍
I'll definitely be keeping a shot glass in the glove box from now on, I've always kind of worried about the glass breaking myself
My 61 scout has the Delco fuel pump on it and it is a little more difficult to rebuild, mostly because the pump diaphragm does not come with the shaft so you have to press the shaft out of the old diaphragm and reuse it in the new one (I drilled and tapped the shaft so I could secure the new diaphragm with a machine screw) and it has a diaphragm for the vacuum side also. I may have a spare sediment bowl
That sounds like a difficult one! Fortunately I tracked down a sediment bowl on ebay, so that's on its way

FFS IH how complicated do you need to make a diaphragm pump😄
I wonder if the service truck oil in the bowl is from the FIP lubrication.
Really not all that complicated, super easy to rebuild which is convenient

Simpler especially vs the main injector pump on a diesel.
My comment was in reference to the Land Rover 2.25 lift pump part number 549761(gas) 563146(diesel).
You done mint rebuilding it. The shot glass showing the Alaskan ingenuity👍🏻
