  • We've got the engine back from the machine shop, and ready for re-assembly. I had a bit of a set back with the rocker arms, but parts are on the way. Happy Fourth of July Weekend!

enjoyable video on a lesser known engine 👍

I’ve almost finished my 392. Sadly getting parts has been a freaking nightmare. Once this engine is done it will hopefully never have to come apart ever again.

I know the feeling, hang in there, it'll be worth it!

Videos like this are useless to people actually wanting to rebuild an engine. I guess it's just for views but ok. not a single spec gone over wasting my breath I guess. Nice job however

I never claimed these videos would be instructional. People are welcome to watch, but honestly these videos are for a target audience of 1.

Should have done a port and polish while it was a part

That’s what I did with my 392. These heads aren’t exactly known for performance so every bit helps!

Some things necessary for an engine rebuild, a dial caliper, a bore gauge, a micrometer, plastigauge and a factory service manual for the spec tolerances.🤣

Malarki, do you have a part’s breakdown list of where you got everything??

I'll leave this public for a week or so, if you'd like to copy it. I don't know how helpful it will be, as a lot of the parts I found were one time purchase on eBay. Good luck!

Just got a 66-67 with the 196 4 speed. Looking for a good rebuild kit

They are hard to find. I got told by a lot of manufacturers, that they've obsoleted parts for the scouts 😢

What's the cost out the door for an engine like that.
    I have a 1965 scout 80

It was only by the grace of God that I was able to source oversized pistons and bearings. They've been obsoleted by major manufacturers. It's cheaper to swap for a more common engine. In parts and machining this one exceeded 4k, not including labor

Why did cam gear seem to take a few tries?

    • @malarki8789
      @malarki8789  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

The cam splines rotate as its tightened down, its easy to put it on the wrong tooth

obviously these videos aren't meant to show an actually proper rebuild, if it is this thing won't run long🤣🤣

He used plastic at the beginning of the video.
