I can't believe collectors are even at $170. It is basically hit a galaxy shock or you lose.

A set made only for Mark Rosewater doesn't have broad appeal. Shocking.
galaxy basics are selling for $12.99 and you get 12 of them in a box=$155. so you only need $15 more out of the entire rest of the cards to make it worth it. With box toppers and galaxy shock lands that will be incredibly easy. You should buy all day at this price, this is one of the least risky boxes you can speculate on.

Nobody thinks about Unfinity because it is approximately 45 Sets ago with new sets coming out every other day
It was also delayed 7 months, and not that great of a set. Commander players aren't really accepting the non acorn cards either. Effectively making this set shocks or bust, and shocks will never be fetches so the set gets a 5 meh out of 7. The numpty's at wotc couldn't leave good enough alone.
Also only half, or less, of the cards are playable in only a few formats. And the value truly is Galaxy foil or bust.
@@fastydave In 100% personnal opinion, I really like this set, before release i tought it would be my favorite set... until they said sticker would be eternal legal. Splitting the set between legal and non ones was a great idea, stickers are so awkward that it creates an uneasy situation with anyone playing them. Also my personnal favorites are in order Basics then shock lands

That mountain at 10:16 is why the basics are expensive. The Galaxy foil Planetary lands - Lands that show only Orb-like Planets (lol orbs) are the expensive basics.

The reasons for the price drops are: only a fraction of cards are tournament legal, legal cards are underpowered by design, cosmic foil treatment isn't flavor-of-the-month anymore, and draft/sealed demand has dropped off. As of the writing of this comment, oil slick raised foils have the market's attention, and there will inevitably be more unique card treatments coming in the future. Every new set now comes with it's own new treatment, so novelty will always wear out.
Still, it's a great product for an un-set experience!

Currently, we’re getting an ever-increasing number of unique card art/treatments, yet player interest in them remains nearly finite. Not every variant of the full art basic land sets is guaranteed to be a long-term winner.
This is a terrible un set experience. It's one of the main reasons people dropped off, expecting diverse wacky silver bordered mtg parody. Instead its watered down, half legal nonsense themed around a generic space arcade. The lands are good but thats about the only compliment I can give it.
That's old school Pokémon foiling. It makes sense that the character not be holo, while the background is.
1. Rudy opens a great box and doesn't realize it.

that doesnt matter, even the worst sets of all time. dragon maze is now a 110 dollar box of that most printed and worst set in modern yugioh. people were selling them at a big lose at one point. over time those lands in there are going to increase in value as long as they dont reprint them with galaxy foil. buying at 170, and hold for 3 years i would bet money on it they will be 250+ dollars boxes. that would be a 10%+ return. hes not telling people to buy them to open them, hes saying buy them and hold on to them.
@SteveFarEast actually no it isnt, he sells to the same people each month. he is not advertising to people who are already buying. also the dude built one of the biggest single card and sealed product. he sells his product to his patrons at a lose. only time when he makes money when people wanna buy specific product at a higher price.

Some of the galactic commons and uncommons are very valuable because how how galactic commons and uncommons are to pull.
I opened a draft box of it. Kept 2 shocklands and threw the rest away. Pretty ass draft experience as well.

I've always liked the unsets, but do feel like they shouldn't be mixed with tournament legal cards.
Statistically s'eaking, from the %chance Wizard stated, when properly calculated, there should be just slightly lower than 2 galaxy foil per case (6boxes), but just slightly, most of the time, there's gonna be 2.
They always put the best basics in unsets.
Those foil full-art shocks are still expensive.
I opened 2 collectors boxes and got 1 galaxy shock in each box plus the 2 shock box toppers
The Actual issue is the set felt like it was missing something. Then we got a Secret Lair with Galaxy foil which should have been in Unfinity and would’ve helped the set…. Video game company’s have done this and the launch game feels the same way.

this is the first time im seeing a box of this product opened, and im actually kind of blown away. all i heard about this set was the controversies, the acorns and the stickers and the partypacks full of empty condoms.....but holy shit the galaxy foiling and the retro-futuristic art style make this set more visually unique than any ive seen since i started caring about this game (Ixalan era)......if the cards are really that cheap i might pick some up just to have in my binder!
It's a great one for collecting the art. I think it's just players don't like it (other than the shock lands).
i opened one set box, and i got no shock lands other than my box topper. Really from I've seen and heard, I had the rarest box.

The orbital basics are hard to get, and if it has galaxy foil treatment, that's several bucks.
The black border cards and expensive boosters really defeat the whole purpose of an un-set.

thers quite a lot of unc galaxy foils above 5 euros from what i saw on cardmarket and the "planet lands'' in the galaxy are 10euros a pop
The 3rd most valuable card outside the shock lands in the set is a basic swamp. The cards aren’t worth the cardboard they’re printed on. Collectors is the only packs worth opening and that has a really high cost of entry. People who are willing to pay 15$ a pack want an experience like the double masters, or dominaria remastered box openings not just pull the lands and throw out the rest.
The only good thing of that set are the shocklands and the nice lands
Back in ye old days shining pokemon got the "cold foil" character art treatment and the "galaxy foil" were holos post base set 2. Wizards is just going back into their vaults and digging out their old card stock xD

Back in the day when you had to pay mana or life or something in the game not moolah (outside of the game) for a strong effect. I miss those balanced days.
I think this set is very underrated. Wizards didn't use power creep to sell the set, and Magic TH-camrs ignored it, so Timmies ignored it too. The actual designs are fun and interesting.
The problem is that they did the opposite of power creep. The tournament legal cards are bad enough that they would never get used (aside from the shock lands) Therefore the only reason to buy the collector boosters is for the hopes at a galaxy shock land. That means the cost of the box is going to stay close to the average value of shock lands in the box. Other sets have a much broader range of cards with value, and the collector booster boxes still typically have a couple of special chase cards valued over $100.
There just isn't any value worth chasing in these sets.

For what it's worth I opened 3 collectors and 1 set box and got 2 galaxy and 3 normal foil shock lands

There's a reason why they aren't expensive. You get 1-3 Shock lands per case. The non-foil ones are $20. The Galaxy Foil ones can range over $100, but aren't guaranteed.
So, people just buy the shock lands directly. There's nothing else of value in the boxes, unlike other products, where you can reasonably play the cards and get a good spread.
Un-sets don't work with Hasbro's Chase the Profits Magic.
That seems to be a running theme in Magic sets. They really need more cards to hit $150-200+ like in Pokémon and Weiss. That'd make the Collector boxes much more appealing even if it was really hard to pull. I suppose we have had Jewelled Lotus, Neon Ink and Serialised cards so maybe they're learning.
Cut in half is a good one...i know theres a few others that hold a tiny bit of value, but other than that. Yup, its all based mainly on the galaxy foil shocks. I pulled a steam vent galaxy, and called it quits. It isnt really weird that its not popular. Its sad opening a pack where theres literally only a few cards worth a damn, and then a few lotto ticket cards as galaxy shocks. When i opened these it was utterly mind numbing watching how useless so many of the cards were. Thats why.

@mushy ability at the bottom of the card clearly says "2G reveal this card from your hand and combine it with target host. Augment only as a sorcery"
I did some quick maffs and looking up the prices for the (galaxy) foil lands and uh, well on average you should break even on a box, but the word "average" there is doing a lot of work since there's a huge disparity between how much the galaxy art lands are worth between the other art lands, and that goes doubly so when it comes to the galaxy foiling.
Between the basic lands and the space shocklands (with normal foiling) you should be breaking even at around ~$180, but spending that much money just for the chance of *maybe* breaking even is not great.
I think the biggest problem with these collector boosters are that they are the worst of both worlds. With previous Un- sets (ignoring Unsanctioned, which didn't come in boosters) you could at least play with the cards by drafting them, even if in practice that might only happen once. And with previous collector boosters, are least all of the cards you pulled could be played in the format of your choice, even if they might need some serious uncurling. But Unfinity offers neither of those. Like half of the cards you can't play with, and no one in their right mind would try drafting collector booster, so you're left with a product that's all about whether or not you can make a profit off of it, even more so than before.
And people really don't like the mechanics in this set. So even if you were building a silver bordered cube (oh wait they got rid of the borders), it seems unlikely that you would want any cards from Unfinity in there in the first place. This furthers the problem with minimum value being in each box, because it means that 95% of the cards that you pull, even the ones without the acorn stamp, are not ones that anyone wants to see across the table, so they have no value.
Maybe in a long enough term, the price for these collector boosters will rise, assuming WoTC doesn't reprint the space basics or space shocklands, simply because they are gorgeous and the supply of Unfinity is low due to low interest, but there's also better long term investments you could make.
sorry i'm in the dark, but what is the problem with drafting this set (draft boxes, not set/collector ofc). I'm not familiar with the mechanics of this particular set, is it not a fun draft experience? I absolutely loved Unglued back in the day.

MaRo keeps saying it’s the best selling un set to date and that might be true but also magic has the largest player base to date. I can’t imagine it sold well in comparison to other sets that came out last year
I’ve only opened one collectors box around release and was disappointed I only got one galaxy pain. Now I’m not so disappointed.
I did make an overall profit on the box tho at the time with cards pulled.

Unfinity crashing like almost every other Magic product. Wizards has blown its credibility and I don’t know that it can fully recover it over the short to medium term. Sealed collecting feels dead; I’m sure it will come back at some point, but I don’t think it will ever regain its former glory.
Seems unlikely. It can happen but it'll take a drastic change of management style and even then it'll be years. Magic feels like it's slowly dying here in the UK.
The unset value time horizon is much longer than a typical set. They're short printed but don't have as much demand. In 10 years these boxes will go nuts.
Fewer boxes of Unstable were printed than Unhinged, and unhinged is $700+/box. That set has ZERO value outside of a few mega foil rares. We'll see the same thing with unstable and unfinity, because they're short printed.
Where’d anyone say that Unstable had a smaller print run than Unhinged? I’d think if Unhinged was that plentiful there’d be a far smaller price tag on those boxes.

Mhhh galaxy stuff. Also the basics hold some value there, about $6-15 each. Even as every single pack contains one of them. Reasonable when the rest of the pack's content got a combined value of $1-3 in a collector pack -- unless you hit a shock land ofc.
I just hope they do more reprints. I can’t wait for the 31st anniversary set to have some of the other reserved list cards get reprinted. Wouldn’t it just be great if you could pick any card send wizards like $5-$10 and get a play set of that card in 1 of the 200 variants of that card.

Regular shock lands should be 1 in 24 packs and Galaxy Foil shock lands should be 1 in 100 packs.
To Rudy's land comment. The theros lands were a galaxy type basic land.(not galaxy foiling, galaxy art)
If there weren't so many sets out and those sets having better playable cards people probably would like this set a lot more. I've pulled three of those galaxy foils from random packs at Wal-Mart none the less. Lol

Land are literally the only thing of value in that set, and the real money is only really son the galaxy foiled shocklands.
A lot of mythics are meaningless if they are worth .10 cents to $2.00. There are plenty of unsold boxes because not too many people bought them. I avoided this product.

Only getting 2-3 shocks per collector or draft box, makes the draft box where the money is. If I could get 5-6 in collectors like mh2 fetches I'd be all on unfinity coloectors
thats why i hate un sets. only the lands and maybe a couple planewalkers were the only good hits. i tend to stay away from un sets like the plague.

How is this at 190$ a slam dunk? The product is utter garbage, you don't even have playable cards in it.
The reason nobody wants this set is because the space theme is inappropriate for a Magic set, and it's also ugly. I've not even seen anyone at my FLGS run these full art basics.
Nothing feels special. Nobody cares after a week. It’s a sad, oversaturated game.
