I know it's not an original idea, but one thing I try to teach newer/players that seem to find themselves losing games is the ... Hold 1/Fight 1/ Give 1 strategy.
Hold 1 or Safe objective: typically the natural expansion objective. But it's the objective that your opponent would be extremely foolish to try to take from you, without having to commit a large amount of their force.
Fight 1: as it sounds, it is the objective (usually in the center) that you can feed assets to deny the center or to lay claim to.
Give 1: it is the side of the board that you deployed little to no assets to. But come turn 3 is when your final re-enforcements come down to attack on. Because the opponent has committed the majority of their forces to assault your center/strong side. If the opponent has also played heavy on your Give objective then your Deepstriking unit then plays more of an outflanker or they drop right into the center and continue to put pressure to your opponent.

Thinking about the game along the lines of how Units effect Objectives rather than how friendly Units effect enemy Units is a game changer 😮

My problem is i lose games because i get excited and forget abilities and strats and etc.
My positioning is fine, my list is great, but its hard to win if you are forgetting big abilities when you really need them.

I was facing a newer guy the other day and i say and quote "your stormraven is a really good unit and you rolled super hot on the dice" he had 2 repulsir executioners in his list.... i explained how my stormraven is generally considered a super overcosted unit for what it does and my list has alot of tier 2 and tier 3 units but only 1 or 2 tier 1 units i just play it well and know how to use it.

There are so many parallels between 40k and Chess.
Tip 1 (Position) could be "How can my opponent punish my mistake?"
Tip 2 (Not denying points) could be "What weaknesses/ problems/ counterplay can I create for my opponent?
Tip 3 (Doing actions that don't help you) could also be "What is my opponent going to do?" And in that instance its blast you to bits woth their Forgefiends!
Great video and important game play to always keep in mind if one hopes to improve. 😊

The dice argument is fair. I've had 2, arguably 3 games where dice made it impossible to do anything before it was REALLY the dice's fault, but I try to look at it as good to having gotten that out of the way statistically speaking and as you're learning more and more you do realize that a lot matters more than dice rolls for sure.

Rolls *can* determine the outcome of games but the points you make drastically reduce the chances of that happening, for sure. I'd say for as much trash luck I have, I equally get amazing luck; I just only remember the bad luck. The point you make at 8:50 is excellent and I'll certainly be taking that into consideration - There's no point in threatening to score primary when your opponent can just focus fire and get a free kill. Although, if drawing them out to kill your primary-scoring threat means that they're now in the open, you can then kill their units in the open. I guess it depends on the situation but sometimes staging is better than going for it.
