Thanks for this review, GaBIT. I bought a pair of refurbished M2 at $109 from Sennheiser Official Outlet with 2-year-long warranty on ebay a month ago. I didn't like the rolled off high frequency of M2 at first. I even bought a pair of Bose QC-35 II to compare, but I found that I never get fatigue from M2 while I feel piercing pain in my ear after using the Bose for a couple of hours. M2 offers BT4.2, but until I upgrade my iPhone 7 to 8, I can't even use the BT 5.0 feature of M3. Sennheiser M2/HD-1 has rock-bottom price now and bang for the buck value with very musical sound!
They are still the best headphones out there and with the price drops I would buy them again except after 2 years mine still look like brand new. The sound is incredible and they block out a sufficient amount of noise. I've worn them on several flights and they are very comfortable for many hours. Still looking at the Bose? or worse the Beats? These are the difference between a limo and Chevy. You video was good it covered all the features. To me making a phone call while wearing headphones is really not important, I'm for comfort, sound quality and noise cancelling oh yeas and fantastic battery life. See ya I'm taking the limo.
I just bought a pair and couldn’t be happier! If U wanna buy them hurry up. In my market the ivory is already sold out and I had to buy black ones. And I’m still happy, especially with the sound and I tried a lot of 400$+ models and, as a dj, I require the umph that only a few companies can do (certainly not Bose or B&O).
Many choices for many criteria - sound quality, comfort, build, ANC, battery and of course price. I weigh heavily on those first 3, not so much the others but I'm a listener more than a traveler so ymmv. Given the cost, I happened on $150 open box missing cable it was an easy choice on a one time deal. Vs the big 3 lines at comparable prices I would still go these up to about $250 unless ANC is your priority. Happy listening!
There are rumors going around of the production for these being stopped in preparation for the Momentum 3 somewhere towards the end of the year. So these will probably be lowered in price even more to clear stock.
Your review is nicely done and is spot on. That said, I've had a wee bit of a problem with this headset...and perhaps it is from me not understanding what I am doing. I already owned the Sennheiser PXC450 and the HD650. I generally listen to music with my Bose QuietComfort 15 but I went with Sennheiser for wireless because I've enjoyed their other headsets. My first problem was I didn't understand the headphones will not not work with a receiver until I called Sennheiser. I figured that was ok because I use my Alienware Area 51 PC as my media source which is connected to a Samsung 4K 9500 TV. I had difficulty getting the headset to pair with the PC until I bought a Sennheiser dongle for another $60. It's fine and there is no lag but the sound is not so great. I wish there was some way to adjust the settings via software or something. Unfortunately I paid $440 including tax at Amazon and think the headset should have a few more bells and whistles. I won't purchase another Sennheiser product but It is definitely a beautiful headset and as noted, extremely comfortable.
Thank you! Interesting what you say, I didn't had any problems connecting them to my laptop and to my desktop. Other than the fact that when I move to far away from the laptop, I lose the signal way sooner compared to other headphones.
@@Gabriel2.0 Do they work to use them for Skype/Slack/etc calls? If I do a Skype call with them on Mac CPU jumps to 100% and OS starts being sluggish and the call starts getting interrupted.
I just bought one last “black” Friday for 219€. The wearing comfort and the sound are great! The only thing that bothers me a little is the maximum of the volume. As a rule I’m listening at 80 to 100% of the volume of these headphones, but mostly at 100%. Sometimes I wished listening at a higher volume what is not possible. Anyhow I can recommend the headphones at all events
I got the wired pair and even though I'm a bass head i love them, but there was a problem with my carrying bag the sued on its sides was cracking off but aside for that the headset is amazing, got it for 120 dollars it sounds amazing and looks amazing.

Agree that the first one is the best. I have the black/red colorway over ears. Also came with 2 cables and the remote on the cable is the nicest i have seen. Also have momentum 2 wired over ears and hd 1 wireless pink floyd version.

You mentioned the noise cancellation is worst than the PXC 550's. Is it MUCH worst or only a little bit. I'm trying to justify buying these over the PXC as I prefer the looks, but I also need good noise cancellation as I fly from place to place a lot.
Mr Pineapple The difference is quite obvious. In the plane you can still hear the engines with the M2 - at least I do. With the pcx550 it's almost inaudible. At least for me it is... however, I would still take the M2 because they are more confortable. I think the best way is to try both of them and keep the ones that you like
just bought them for 159 € (174 $). Supposedly the main difference between the 2.0 and the 3.0 is better noise cancelling and some gadgets that I personally don't need. The sound quality apparently has not improved (a lot). Since I will only use them at home, the noise cancelling is not a deal breaker, so there is no need for me to spend more than double the price for the new model
I find this an interesting question, since these headphones are both low impedance, and meant to be driven by mobile phones. I'd assume the dap would have nothing to do with the decision...

Just wondered, with all the firmware updates and app etc. Is it possible to turn off the Noise Cancellation yet? I heard it can't be turned off. Cheers.
I bought these brand new for $85 USD off eBay. I tried a friends Bose QC 35 and it was amazing. My Sennheiser Momentum 2 were delivered the next day. The noise cancellation doesn't work. I can hear everything; used with iphone 8. Tried CapTune app what a joke!!! I left my 3.5 mm connector at work. Will use wired in hopes the cancellation feature will turn off & maybe reset itself. Any thoughts?
@@Gabriel2.0 Hi, the headphones were definitely new. Everything was still wrapped! I was able to register them. The seller had a low starting price and I lucked out no one bidded. I tried the headphones on a Samsung S10 and the noise canceling worked. I found out that Apple does not allow the upgraded bluetooth codec technology of aptX with iPhones. They want users to purchase their ear buds or headphones . I was told their may be a trick to enable aptX via iTunes. May try that option.

Bought mine today, Sennheiser momentum wireless 2.0 for AU $399 (about US $285). Could pick up Sony for the same price - nope. Rather have great sound and style than smartphone gimmicks in a plastic case.

Agree. Thin vocals, flat bass on tracks I know to have a good driving bassline, harshness to string instrument sounds. The only music that sounds decent on these is modern chart stuff or electronic music.
Got the way cheaper Marshall Major 2 BT instead. Sounds waaaaaaaaaay better. Although still not perfect, some of the tracks get lost in the bass but most of my music sound fantastic! It's not perfect sound reproduction but hey...£45 vs £190? The price doesn't even do justice. Works great as AUX on my car that has no sound mods, the music sounded worlds appart after doing BT + AUX connection
No way do they sound like tin cans. Been using for 3 months and they sound full, rich nice sharp controlled bass. Soundstage is wide very good. Mostly use for movies I luv em.

The sennheiser over ear gen 2 wireless will be worth buying even after 10 years later.... that audio quality is simply ahead of any other headphones

hmmm, how to explain.... open back gives a more "live music" sensation and you also have better separation between instruments.

I guess they are broken... 85 USD seems too cheap for a working pair. The CapTune app is indeed useless for them
