I have the purple one,we’ve always called it maypop but it’s a Passion flower like yours, just all purple. The fragrance, I love it!This is the main food for the gulf fritillary butterfly, they will eat the leaves up but please don’t kill them as they make a beautiful butterfly, and we all know how much we need more butterflies. Thank you for this video, your flower is beautiful.

Came across this video. 👋 from the UK. I have a blue Passion flower, it was given to me by a friend and I didn’t know how to make it grow so it was just two 10cm stems for 2 years in a pot without anything. I did my research this year and popped a stick into it and voila, 3 months later it’s 8ft tall :D

Do you know what is the variety of this plant that your father grows in zone 9? I just bought this plant a few days ago and I am thrilled about the possibility of growing this is my garden. See, my mom grew lots of these on her backyard and it brings lots of wonderful memories to see the flowersand the fruit. I now live in Massachusetts so I am not sure how this plant will do around here. I bought the blue bahama plant. Hopefully I bought the right variety. Thanks! ☺️
On a separate note, I love how gardening can connect people from all over the country and the world.

I’m not sure which one he has but it’s likely a basic maypop.

I bought mine because I read that the flowers are edible and medicinal. Mine was a seedling. Do you know how long it will take before it will bloom?

Seedlings take 3-4 years to bloom but if you’re in a hot climate like me they can bloom much sooner.

Can you propagate this plant? I took a cutting from a friend’s and put it in my propagation station. No roots but it’s still alive and there are drops of moisture coming off the leaves. The tendrils have all curled up. It’s beautiful as is but I want the plant with roots.

I have this bought it ,but it is quite evasive, so i dont think i will plant it in the garden ,there is a original one which is not evasive

It gets very large but it’s not considered invasive. There are wilder varieties that will take seed though. This one doesn’t fruit here.

Just be careful with the leaves and unripe fruit as it's toxic. Only pick yellow ripe fruit to eat.

Haha, you say “I” and “My” but it was your husband who did all the hard work. try giving him more credit, try to use “We” and “Our” more often. Thanks for the info though.
