They were "just another band" on the Happy Together Turtles tour. Well they knocked it out of the park and are literally the only act that stayed with me from that show.
Barry wouldn't leave New Orleans prior to Katrina. He was missing for months until his body was found. One of those horrible stories related to Hurricane Katrina.

This video was recorded shortly BEFORE Barry passed away. Billy is not present and, Richard never actually played in the band because of his dad. There is a caveat. Richard tried to perform once with his siblings back in 2013. It didn't go over too well. That was the only exception.
If you like the Cowsills, you owe to yourself to watch their documentary. This family breaks my heart every time I hear them. What sad childhoods they had and out of all that they were creative studio and performance prodigies.

The Cowsills will be part of the Happy Together tour again this summer & their closest booking to Tucson will be three hours away on 7/12/23 at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ. Definitely worth seeing! Saw them last year during their similar tour. I highly recommend attending, as all of the groups were outstanding!

Oh my. The vocals. How can they do those vocals so sweet and true without studio tricks? Live and in person. This song bloomed and blossomed all over me the month I left home, at 16, in the fall of 1967. It was positively heartbreakingly sweet. Within two years I'd turned my back on pop, and was exploring the best songwriting I could find. Two years after that and it was roots, deep dive into all the best of what climbed out of New Orleans and sailed up the Mississippi 50 years before I was born. But this song timestamped the tail end of an innocence I'll always be grateful I had to opportunity to have.

We are fortunate to have them in our highly valued and treasured memories from that era. How refreshing NOT to see unsightly tattoos and gross body piercings.
