Creating a Product - CustomCat App Tutorial

  • You can create custom products by applying your designs to any of the 300+ products in our product catalog.
    Learning to create products will open the door to exporting new custom products to your store -- as well as ordering sample products directly through our interface.
    To get started, click “My Stores” in the left navigation menu.
    Next, find the store you want to build products for, & click the “Add Product” button next to that store.
    This will bring you to CustomCat’s product catalog. You can either browse by category, or search for a particular product using our search bar.
    Once you find a product you’d like to add, hover over the product & click the “Add” button
    You’ll see the product added in your product menu at the top of the page.
    You can add as many products as you’d like from this step, or just create one product, then click Confirm to move to Step 2.
    In Step 2, we’ll add our design & adjust product details.
    To add a design to many products at once, you can upload your design here, or select one from your Design Library.
    If you’re only creating one product, you can also add a design within the product details by clicking on the product, using the uploader or Design Library button within the Design tab.
    Once you’ve selected your design, you can choose one of our positioning presets, or select “Custom” to position your design anywhere you’d like within the design space for that product.
    We’ll go into more detail about each of these presets in our product-specific videos.
    If you’d like to design on the back of a garment, click the “Turn” button below the image of your product. You can upload a new design for the back of the garment, or select a new design from your Design Library.
    Keep in mind, you cannot use the same image from your design library for multiple print locations. Please re-upload your design to apply the same artwork to two locations on the same product.
    Returning to the Product Detail tab, you’ll notice many editable fields. You can edit the Product Name, Sale Price, Product Description, select size & color variants, and add product tags to your product here.
    Because these options may vary by integration, we’ll review them separately for each ecommerce platform.
    Once your product looks exactly the way you want it, click the “Confirm” button in the top right corner of the designer window.
    Lastly, you’ll click the Export button in the top right corner of your screen to progress to export.
    This is the last stage to review your product before it’s exported. You can click the product title to open the product details if you need to make any last-minute adjustments.
    If everything looks the way it should, you can complete the final step & click “Export” in the top right corner.
    You’ll see the green progress bar moving from left to right as the product information is transferred to your ecommerce site. When the export is complete, your screen will display a “Success!” message.
    And that’s it! You’ve now created & exported a product within the CustomCat app.

    I want to test your Gildan sweatshirt but i cant get it into my design app.

      Hi there -- our print dimensions for the Gildan 18000 are 11.41 inches by 15.11 inches. If you create a file in these dimensions at 300DPI, the artwork will utilize the full print area for that product. If you'd like your design to be smaller, you can resize it within your canvas.

    After I click export , what's next? (Btw, I don't see the message export completed, although it's show the progress bar moved to the right end)

      After your products are exported to your store, you can find them on your selling platform. If you're exporting to Etsy, the products will be exported to your Draft listings for you to publish.
      If you're not seeing the Export Completed message, it sounds like the export may have failed. Our tech support team can help you get to the bottom of the issue if you send an email to contact@customcat.com -- the more detail you include, the better! Your store URL, the product you're trying to export, & a screenshot of the export page are all helpful to include.

    How to decrease the font on the mug? I can only edit the size on the front when I click Custom how about the back?

      Hi Jo -- if you'd like your artwork to be smaller than the CC Preset sizing but you'd like the design on both sides of the mug, you should use our Art Template to create your artwork. There's currently no option to duplicate your artwork on both sides of the mug at a custom size within the designer. You can find out mug art templates in the Mug Selling Guide on our site!

    how do you make pictures transparent

      Hi @solisredd2769 -- we're not currently offering image editing within our platform. Our partners use third-party design software to ensure their graphics are exactly as they'd like before uploading to CC.

    I went in to try a design on a hat. Very disappointed in the design editing. I uploaded a design but the design showed up too big for the design area and there was no way to simply scale the design to fit the design area in the hat product design screen. REALLY STUPID and a waste of my time. It was my first time trying CustomCat and my LAST! My solution was to disconnect CustomCat from my Shop integrations and go back to Printify.

      Hi Stephen -- we're so sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. Hats are the only product in our catalog that do not currently allow design size customization & must be designed exactly to the print specifications for that product.
