It's a song about betrayal. When Annie was 14 a girl offered to be her "best friend" but that only lasted til her real best friend split with her bf and became available again. The message is universal and reminds to value proper friendship and reject those who cower behind falsehood.
Still loving this song almost 35 years after it was released. Annie Lennox vocals on this are brilliant. One of the greatest British female vocalists for me.
You've also had the Proclaimers and the Bay City Rolelrs. Wasn't a fan of the Rollers myself, but they were hugely popular when I was in school. You couldn't have anything in tartan without everyone thinking it had something to do with them
@@IanM-id8or the rollers played in my hometown (Bo'ness) many years ago, small town that had a popular venue where some big names played, i remember my mum saying people were passing out in the queue when they saw them up close lol
What an ensemble of legendary people all in one video. Jimmy Z rocking it like a king, Annie with a voice from the heavens... When will there ever be a group like this again? Massive respect.
This song popped into my head this morning, came back and it's as good as ever! catchy as can be and her voice is fantastic. The Brits really know how to make ageless music, 80's to now.
This is exceptionally well composed and expertly arranged. Every solo, each riff, the verse, bridge, chorus, lead vocal, backing vocal and the spoken word intro are all utterly unforgettable. It’s an absolutely timeless slice of pop music.
This is an absolute timeless classic. Annie Lennox voice is beautiful on this track. One of my faves by them. Was too young to appreciate how good Eurythmics were at their peak. Glad I can hear more of their tunes on here. 80s music was so good.
Annie Lennox is a brilliant singer still to this day. She would give Adele a run for her money. Adele is a great singer too. But Annie.is a fantastic singer and song writer. Go on yerself Annie. One Scottish women to another great video from the great Annie Lennox. 👍 🏴🏴
1986... I was 22 and had just finished working in a nightclub when this some came out... Eurythmics are a great band... It is amazing walking into a shopping centre today and hearing the songs from that era still be played regularly.... Shows just how talented the musicians from the 1970s and 1980s were.
I love how she connects with the camera. Subtle looks, moves…very expressive. If there was not sound you still understand the message! 😆 Genius. Sassy bitch and I love her. And Dave! He’s so much fun to watch. Watching this again after 30 years had me smiling.
Growing up in the 80's and 90's these type of catchy songs were everywhere. They were so 'normal' we kinda took em for granted. Now we look back and realize how great and amazing that era of music was.
The eyes, the hair and the cool attitude. It's how an 80's diva should look and sound. Then shove in the cool sax and Daves guitar...Annie is just a total star performer. Luv her to bits....... Wowsers....
Thank you Annie, Dave and the UK as a whole for providing this American with world class tunes from the 80s thru today! Music would not be complete without the Union Jack!
and there's another. call me weird, but thought id do a quick parsing of youtube comments for the word 'underrated'. look almost ANYTHING and this meaningless word will appear...it's really odd
Although the first single from Revenge, "When Tomorrow Comes", had barely reached the UK Top 30, "Thorn in My Side" became Eurythmics' ninth Top 10 single, reaching number 5 in the British charts. To date, it is their last appearance in the UK Top 10. In the United States, the track stalled at number 68 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was a Top 2 hit in Ireland, and reached the Top 10 in New Zealand (#7) and Sweden (#6).
Essa noite vai ser longa... Que voz essa mulher tem? E q olhos? Nao canso de ouvir Eurythmics !!!! Uma musica melhor que a outra . As bandas de hoje deveriam voltar a usar o saxsofone ! Abracao aos BRs que amam a Annie Lennox e sua banda.

Here we are thinking she's singing about a man.
It's about her first marriage to a scientologist
When I was 14 I was befriended by a scientologist. They came and took him away. Not sure what happened to him after that.
@@Gubalicious When I was 14 he became schizophrenic but she's older now and much better.
Whatever the song is about it does not matter. Its a great song by a great band and artist.

Still love this song 34 years later!!
Definitely one of the best female vocalists around.
Before digitisation and before TH-cam made you a star.
Pure voice. Pure vocal talent.
Annie was one of the best female rock vocalists of all times.
Annie Lennox was ( and is) a star LONG before TH-cam was ever invented.
That sax playing tho! Woooow!
She's brilliant
Legendarna stvar......jedna od njihovih najboljih❤

So many Eurythmics songs explore toxic relationships and this one's about how to move on from one. Thanks to Annie for the advice and attitude! 💪🏻🎵💃🎤
Annie Lennox is an absolute genius. What a hero!!
this is an absolute classic and very catchy song , also 1 of Annie Lennox's best songs as her voice is awesome too.

Annie Lennox: simply the best female voice of all time
Apart from Karen carpenter
She's certainly up there Debbie Harry?
Whitney Houston?
I think she is very underrated
Always someone that goes too far lol. She's great, but she's not. Better than Whitney, Mariah or Celine

I agree.
100 % true. It's something else.
Could be ode to 2022 for many. Onwards and upwards in this New Year, hopefully!
From a Musician's standpoint: "It's musically choreographed"...perfectly!
It's art.
The lyrics of this song, and the joyful tune in the background which means you're getting over it, are quite literally perfect for me right now...
Her facial expressions are awesome. She’s amazing.
Every song is like a great performance and story, amazing artist
@louisa conford totally agree, best female singer in my opinion. Can name so many great songs by her either with eurythmics or solo. Amazing
100% Love her expressions! Channeling Bowie a bit. Great song!
You should see the video 'Walking on broken glass'. There she plays a super bitch.
She was a good actor with real stage presence.
Annie expresses at least as much emotion through her eyes as through her voice.
So stylish Eurythmics 😍
Annie Lennox, what an incredible voice. Just look at her. Total Class!!!!
