I was in my early 20's when this came out. Cher was 40 I believe, 40 seemed a lifetime away for me. 62 today, where has the time gone. Sure wish I could turn back time. Live your life to the fullest.

You seen Madonna rolling about a stage, Michael Jackson at his peak, Guns N Roses change the world in 1987. You seen great sportsmen like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Mike Tyson, Wayne Gretzky. Also you were in your 30s in the 1990s which was the peak of our species. Now you're coming into the final stages of life you can look back and feel privileged you where lucky.... But you also got to see a lot of shit like the Aids epidemic, crack cocaine, two planes hitting the world trade centre, endless wars and suffering, and you had to watch a lot of people you knew die. It has its downsides as well, bro.

My mom was a HUGE Cher fan so I've been listening to this amazing woman since birth. I'm 44 + lost my mum when I was 27 very unexpectedly. She was my best friend, my rock + I miss her so very much. Anytime I here Cher, especially this song, I think of her. If only we could turn back time...
My mother was a huge fan as well. I lost her when I was 19. She used to always sing this to me as a kid. 20 years later it's still kind of hard for me to listen to.

I heard the Navy leaders that allowed this to be filmed got in huge trouble. In hindsight, it was probably worth some careers, an important piece of pop culture and US History and a great showcase of the historic ship.

Although I never listened to Cher intentionally, this song did become a hit. Unbelievable is how I felt.
Damn, props to her for absolutely rocking that outfit with the confidence of a goddess. I can't imagine how scandalous it must've been in the 80s, even after Prince and Madonna, but Cher absolutely slayed and made it iconic.

Actually, yes, it was very scandalous when that video came out. I remember it well. Cher snuck that outfit in at the last minute. She was known for her risqué, almost nude outfits and she was one of a kind. She carried it well and basically thumbed her nose at everyone. The 80s were far far more conservative than nowadays. I can't believe some of the outfits celebrities wear and outright porn in MVs these days.

I was a career Navy man , Grenada , , Beirut and 3 tours in the minefields of Persian gulf during the wars. This song meant so much to , so many of us during those deployments. Thank you CHER

My brother in law retired after 35 years as a Army Ranger as a Colonel, my nephew is a Sargent in the National Guard as a Helicopter Mechanic, and my cousin retired as a Air Force Master Sergeant, and another by marriage who lost both of his legs in Vietnam.

The 80s were the best decade for EVERYTHING!! Best movies,best TV shows and especially the best MUSIC!!!! It was a different world and different mind set. Sadly I doubt if we will ever have anything like that again. And that makes me sad. But we have TH-cam and our memories.
