Thank you so much for this very detailed video! It helped me to make the decision to NOT buy the Ally X or any other handheld PC at this day and age. I think these devices are great for less demanding indie games but not so much for AAA Titles since we're just not really there yet. We will see what the Z2 will bring in the future especially with more advanced technologies like frame gen and DLSS.
Yeah dude the next gen handhelds are going to be wild and some will be coming pretty soon. AYANEO 3 is could be a pretty big step up with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.. so if you can wait at this point almost coming into 2025 and if power is what you want.. you should for sure wait.
@ yea there will be happening a lot in the comming years. My expectations are a bit unrealistic since i want reasonable power but still good battery times. I think frame generation might help a lot. We're at a time where efficiency becomes more important than power.
If only people know how good VRR is for this game. I get really uncomfortable playing Elden Ring on my deck OLED on unlocked fps, just because of the frame pacing is really bad on some areas. Playing on capped 30fps is better, but definitely cant beat the 40+ fps with VRR on Ally.
You completely disregarded the fact that when you change these settings you needed to restart from the title menu. It even gave you a splash screen each time telling you this. This video is pointless without doing this.
@puppethound wrong. Some settings change. Some require restart to see a change. So the ones requiring a restart don’t actually change until the game is restarted from title menu. It’s not a hard concept to understand… right?
It runs like cheeks best way to play it is using lossless scaling app from steam to use that version of framegen because afmf doesn’t play well in that game the only downside is ur character and only your characters head flickers when u turn camera fast I suspect it’s some sort of artifacting because that game native drops below 30 fps and causes frame gen to have adverse effects but other than that it runs 50-60 fps on medium settings 720 p
the Steam Deck is BY FAR a better experience. Windows is the worst hahah. The useless sleep on the X is such a pain. However the performance with AFMF 2 is just so insane i have found myself not picking up the SD since i got the Ally x.
windows is windows haha.. but i like the 1080p but i would much rather an OLED. upscaling 720p or 900p to 1080p is very nice. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 1080p screen on the Steam Deck 2.
I don't know man, I'm actually becoming less of a believer watching this..maybe filming it doesn't do it justice, but most these settings look similar to me. I can't tell a difference between 1080p and the lower resolutions. You get a little more frames than my OLED, but to give up the OLED and bigger screen..no thanks. Go play Ori on OLED to remind yourself how amazing it is lmao.
hahah yeah i mean if you already have an OLED i really dont think anyone should go run out and drop 800 on this.. however now with AFMF 2 its insane. The OLED still feels way better in my hands but im starting to really like the ally x.
@@nophacetechfacts I don’t have the x can’t justify the buy for 5 more fps and better battery life I have the z1 extreme and it’s crazy good and I got it on offer up for 185 dollars so can’t really beat that
the VRR makes the 50's framerate feel like 60. Game changer
I like your videos just the fact that you test every setting and tdp for each. Hope you'd add the battery remaining from RTTS
thanks! glad you like it. I'll need to check on the battery remaining option.

Did you put cpu boost on
Elden ring isn’t that well optimized on PC. But 900p is the sweet spot on the OG ally. 100 hrs played so far on hand held mode , it’s still amazing 😄
Nah use afmf2 framegen and use super resolution to upscale 720 p to 1080p and play this game at 90 fps like a real man lol
yeah this game is so good on a hand held
can i know setting setup mine go around only 47 49 in 1080p low

It literally isn't, hence why the results changed automatically, leaving your comment pointless, 🤔 😂

Can you advice a Case for the Ally X or how do you store it?
I have not got a case yet.. waiting to see when some more options come out. When i pick something up i will make a video :D
Why you have DLC Store on the main menu? Also why you’re running an older version of Elden Ring 1.12?
Why not
no clue. just playing the game hahaha. I have not got the DLC so maybe that's why?
next dragons dogman 2 🙏

Runs good and looks good but I much prefer playing this game on steam deck OLED.
Crazy steam deck is cheeks I had one and have yet to miss it ally is op
@@brandongrimm7562 I’ve had the OG ally and the x as well. I still prefer the deck. Sleep resume is a huge part of why, also the oled screen.

@@Sportek24 all my games play on it. maybe a few cant but i have not had that issue.
If you use the mod to DELETE THE TREE you gain like 10 FPS then 60 gonna be a reality ;)
for real 10 FPS?
@@nophacetech Seach for Remove Erd Tree (FPS BOOST). May be different in every setup, but I'm pretty sure you can gain some FPS right there

YES soon! keep an eye out!
@@nophacetech wow - so happy about that! 🥳
Steam deck can’t hold the ROG ally x jockstrap
Windows and 1080p resolution make this device unnecessary, 900p native and OLED display would be better.

use afmf2 but will freeze game
I haven’t had that issue in this game running afmf2 what other settings do u have active?
interesting.. I have not had the game freeze yet. might want to restart or even try reinstalling it all.

To each their own. I'll take the extra 15fps
