Thanks for reducing the virtual fears of online fitness training. Great insight regarding coaching and training considerations, as well as how these sessions encourage social connections! Thank you again :)
Great info and insight! BUT....can you guys do a video for us tech dummies....I have been training for 24 years, have a private home studio, and never had the time to venture into online training. Now, with losing my income in just one week, I could really use a course that is actually the nuts and bolts of how to set up and execute an online training session....questions for this Gen Xer is : what kind of camera do i need? what kind of computer? (i dont have a laptop, just a desktop and phone) what kind of microphone, and tripod, and how/where do i set them up and how to use them? Please!!!! can you make a video to teach 101 online training for dummies!!!! I have been an ACE Certified Trainer since 1997.
Thanks, for the feedback, Melanie! Yes, we can do that for you... trust me, you are not alone. There are some tips in our last video about taking your business online, if you haven't seen it, but we'll make a short tutorial too. Here's a link to our other webinar if you didn't catch it. th-cam.com/video/Q74JO2GSzWw/w-d-xo.html
I am right there with Melanie! It's great that ACE is finally talking about the online business stuff...I've been asking for years. I am VERY old school and been with ACE since before it was ACE. I was "Aerobic" Certified by IDEA in 1988 (which merged with ACE) and then I became PT certified in 1990 and have a few more certs since then. As wonderful as these webinars are for many, old schoolers like me, I suggest there should be a technical "10 step program" to take your group fit/PT/ nutrition/coaching brand online from A-Z...from what platforms are suggested to house the best groups (FB business page, group, other,) zoom vs other platforms for meetings and videos, what kind of mic/ear buds to use. If doing a zoom group fitness class with many participants what are suggestions for pricing packages, what pay walls to use and where to put them for pricing...yada yada yada. You get the idea. The two videos give some subjective matter re how the environment will change cueing skill and that's all great. But for veterans like me, who have been "moving assets" for 30+ years where cueing in any environment is 2nd nature, the tech A-Z is really what I need NOW (LOL) and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thanks in advance for arranging this :)

Good stuff! I've been running a boot camp fitness program since 1999, but this week, like everyone, we moved online. The first class was a disaster! The camera orientation was sideways! Not my finest moment! Mike's comment about "it's your party" is really a cool way to look at it. Viewers today for the live class were watching from 9 different states, not just those here in my city. Two weeks ago I would never have thought about doing something like this. I didn't even own a tripod! Good luck out there everybody!
What kind of mic is recommended for an ipad? I've been using my ipad for live 1:1 training (more portable than a computer). I'm also wondering what mic is recommended for recording classes on an iphone... and how people are adding music to recorded classes.
