  • Behavior charts, sticker and rewards charts, chore charts? Are they really helpful in teaching and training a child in good character or are they distracting children from good behavior in order to get a reward?
In this video, the Mommy Answer Lady will reveal why behavior and reward charts can be detrimental to teaching children to find joy in their own accomplishments and in what circumstances charts may be helpful.

So this is why habit tracking doesn't work for me long-term! Makes total sense! 🤯

Oh. My. Goodness. You just described my entire childhood. LOL. Now I know why all the accomplishments feel empty and why I've been starting and stopping things. I often say to my wife... "well I only worked so hard in music because of what I thought it would get me." Now, finally, at 35, I'm learning how to enjoy myself and share that with the world.

This is also why you never want to make a soul single career over of your passion. It becomes a chore.

Ironically , I always felt odd about saying “I’m proud of you.”I’d think 🤔 so what about the times they don’t do well ? It felt like it was about me as you said and also like the relationship was conditional . Thank you for giving me something better to say

This is yet another great collection of useful, practical, time-tested ideas for parenting. Have you ever thought that one reason that emojis are so popular is that they remind us of the stickers that many of us were reared with?? Thank-you for your work! (You should be proud of yourself! I’m proud of you! 😂)

Thank you for the kind words and comments! One way to help is to hit like on the video and share. I’d appreciate it if you would consider. Blessings!

Another great video I was thinking that long term affect might be that as an older child or adult, people may may only do things if they have something in return. Not for being a kind/ person.

Quick question here. What are the stickers for and what’s the difference between chore chart and stickers since they are both forms of points which allows kids to exchange for reward?

I think you need to watch this video again. It explained all that.
