Another great watch. Very interesting to watch. Your calm demeanor must be a tonic for anyone lucky enough to be recovered by you, especially if they're stranded with the casualty vehicle.
It's always a joy seeing the different neighborhoods along the way as well as the routine of your job. Thanks again Steve! Always love the terminology differences between British and American as well.
Unhurried, unflustered(despite others passing on both sides), then threads the whole outfit smoothly along busy roads and round tight corners straight to the destination-another top job done Steve! Thank you for taking us along👍 Michael
Interesting point for me in this video, taking half gears up that hill, I actually thought your motor was an automatic. Testimony to your smooth gear changes Steve!
Great video, I like the fact that it had to be a BMW driver that undertook you at the lights, those guys never disappointed us with their priority driving.
Hi Steve thanks for another excellent video 😊 so glad you found the isolator switch! Damaging a main battery cable could result a bin lorry that not only collects rubbish but incinerates as well 😊 take care mate Gary 😊.
Its been too long Steve, I have missed your videos please keep them coming. Watching you navigating that traffic its true you are not only driving yours you are driving every one else's. Keep safe Steve, best regards Ken
Steve, so good to see your calm and effortless driving skills and narration while dealing with the usual non trucker muppets. Google translate maybe required for anyone who isn’t 100 years old like you and me when you refer to a “dustcart” 😂
Another great job Steve, great narration and great to see the driving part of your journey. Keep the videos coming as I look forward to seeing them all. Stay safe as always.
I'm laughing watching you with that propshaft thinking of my late dad's tales of removing kingpins from lorries on the M6 during one of those freezing cold 1970s winters. Always nice to get a proper mechanic's handshake off someone and know that they'd be able to get you out of Dodge when needed. Great episode this one. We've got some leccy buses over here in Norway, but very few leccy lorries gone past my way.
Hi Martin thanks for watching and comments , real men in those days doing heavy recovery mate , must be tuff to work out in your winters doing this type of work.
@@HeavyRecoverywithSteve Yeah, he told me some hairy stories about the pre-motorway days too. There's a National Geographic series called Ice Road Rescue and one of the drivers is from where I work. They drive for Falck.
Steve, There is a 2 Tonne increase to GVW to some zero emission vehicles. 2 Axles 18 to 20T 3 Axles 26 to 28T 4 Axle Rigid - No Change 32T 2+2 Axle Combi 38 to 40T 3+2 & 2+3 Axle Combi 40 to 42T 3+3 Axle Combi - No Change 44T Might be useful info. As always, keep up the good work and thank you for the video!
Hi Steve, another great job done. And the usual quality calm and collected driving skills. I won't say what I think about electric vehicles and ulez! Thanks for sharing.
That Nearside front tire on the dust cart. The tread look pretty low in the middle. Or it may have been a different tread pattern to the offSide one. Great video have a great week ahead 😊
There was a single deck bus being recovered from a bus layby near me. The recovery driver was under the vehicle. My first thought was it looked dangerous. My second thought was Steve has told you it can only fall as far as the under is off the ground so it is perfectly safe. Ty for the videos :)
Thanks David for comments , we do get some funny looks when working under vehicles on the road its not safest job at times but we try limit risk with stands.
Not so well at the moment steve just lost my father Gordon 5 months ago mate after a short illness at the John radcliffe hospital in Oxford and finding it hard to come to terms with the death of my dad mate but other than that we are OK and supporting my mum now as mum and dad were married for 51 years so we are now supporting mum and going to banbury for a few days to help support her through difficult times but other than that we are still watching your channel mate and enjoying it very much so keep up the good work mate from John and Nora here in kidlington in oxfordshire 🇬🇧
Great video as usual. I drove Denis elite for years and then moved on to Mercedes Econic bin lorries. Huge improvement. However, I'd be interested to know how the electric perform under a 9 hour shift battery wise. Anyway, good to see you back on yt.
I thought the isolators only turn off the high voltage lines? Most electric cars/vans still have a 12V battery so lights and interior features will still turn on even without a HV battery connected
As a driving resident of LB Croydon, your insights and observations of the A23 Purley Way were... uncanny. 😅. I can only say to you, be grateful it wasn't a Saturday afternoon; it's a bitch to go in either direction on Saturdays.
Have u towed any of the electric buses yet?? As be interesting to see if they can be towed, as i was informed that they cannot be towed like the diesels can?
Hi David yes towed in a few now mate . Some have conventional axles with half shafts so you need to remove both shafts like this Dennis , others have electric motors on axles so best to rear lift or disconnect the wiring to the motors but only be towed short distance at slow speed.
@@HeavyRecoverywithSteve i Steve having been a truck driver for over 40 years and having one or two breakdowns I know how hard you lads work keep the videos coming mate when you can
You must have grey hair Steve! OMG i couldn't do it. That stupid car at 43:48, makes you wonder if people have eyes doesn't it. And then the Merc transporter after that! Cheers for the vid mate.
Ugh, what a terrible drive later on. You mentioned somewhere it's London... No separated buslanes even though plenty of busses can be seen, of course everybody drives on the wrong side of the road, those houses all subject to the smell and noise of non stop traffic, probably all day and night, up to 3 lanes wide in places, no separated cycling lanes, just some paint on the streets. Barely any sidewalks, and of course nobody walking or cycling... And they call it the capital of the United Kingdom... More like a remote corner of hell for Traffic and city designers and planners...
Another great watch. Very interesting to watch.
