Congratulations Steve! Hope everyone is doing well. I became a Grandad 4 months ago so I know exactly how you're feeling :) That trailer recovery was more complex than I expected.
Thanks for posting Steve and congratulations on becoming a grandad. Good job, and by Ben too. Didn't know abandoned trailers were a thing. Not a lot left of that one!
Congratulations on becoming a grandad, hope you're saving up to spoil it rotten 😊. Surprised trailers are abandoned, I would have thought they would be worth quite a bit in scrap value, looked like the insulation had been removed. Nice job both. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching , was surprised to see it abandoned not full of rubbish and old tyres , as you say got to be worth something in scrap value. Grandad got twins girls so get to keep busy now thanks.
Great to see you back Steve, and congratulations on becoming a Grandad. Love the video, fascinating as ever. Crazy that they went to the trouble of pulling the floor out (aren't they normally timber?) but didn't scrap the metal in.
Thank you for showing the parking maneuver at the end! Driving the vehicles and trailers is just as interesting as the recovering itself! Thanks for this great video!👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching , yes showed Bus grounding out on slope but not me getting it into drive and owner thanking me as didn't think it would be able to get it in.

I did wonder how you were going to get rid of that center wheels I had pictured you having to remove the wheels. A good training for your co-pilot, thanks for the vid
I’ve seen you out and about. Do you mind if I pop up and say hello appreciate your busy but still like to ask how are you. As before great job great vlog.
Hi Steve, Question why is a trailer abandoned on the side of the road and where’s the floor🤔,,, Always like watching you videos very well filmed and you’re commentary is excellent keep up the good work very professional 👍🏻🇬🇧✅ 10-4 ( or has someone nicked the floor for fire wood)
Unrelated question, hgv trailer, brakes locking up when handbrake is applied in truck, then when handbrake is released in truck, trailer will not release, remained locked up. Any idea why?
No worries I enjoy watching you videos i have been catching up on your past videos it’s open my eyes to see what you go through on the side of the road so now when I see anyone doing a recovery I do try and give you guys some space and drop my speed down . Stay safe
Brilliant channel 👏 keep it up mate always remember being a kid and praying my dads truck would break down and be recovered by NYR and a American rig 😅
Left the industry a while back now but always used to enjoy watching and chatting to the recovery lads when i was on merc service 24. Can i ask, if is it just the weight on the forks that stops them sliding on the boom head? Might just be hard to picture but never understood how the chains stop the sidewards movement.
Hi Herman thanks for watching , yes mainly but we locate the lifting forks next to a u bolt for example on a front axle that stops it sliding past the bolt. Then normally chain over the axle which keeps the axle seated into the forks , then chain in from the side of axle to the pedestal that stops most of the side movements when turning.
Shocked a trailer like that would be abandoned tbh you would think there would be a fair bit of value left in it with the wheels and scrap metal etc or even for storage for someone
Cant believe the amount of drivers that dont move over before they come past you at them speeds. When I see someone that close to the edge in full high viz, I would always move over or at least slow down.
Thanks for watching Alec , the council pay us to recover it , not sure if the breakers pays the council for it , i have to find out mate , got one to recover again soon.
You know a pro truck driver would wind the straps up and tuck them under the rachet lol, and the trailer is fulley Airconditioned to keep the loads cool in summer, but dont recon much to it when it rains Loll
Hi Ollie , the trailer was out of test and being left abandoned , so not sure of faults it had been left with . So safer to tow with a 20tonne wrecker than a tractor unit if trailer brakes not working.
It's certainly a mystery why it wasn't filled with a load of old tyres, builders waste and asbestos etc.. One dumped near me was heaped full of asbestos and tyres..
I don't think it was dumped someone set it there for storage it happens all the time yard full and no room set in a local layby for a few months no one will take it
Why do people unhitch, drive off and abandon trailers? Why do you want the one axel lifted? Why do you leave the stand down? Why do these people want a stripped out abandoned trailer?
Abandoning a trailer like that doesn't make any sense for me. The company that used to own it could earn some money if they didn't want to scrap it , somebody could use it as storage , or I've seen old traillers left in fileds close to busy roads that are used as advertising boards.
@@HeavyRecoverywithSteve I used to keep a pocket full of pennies a trick a cop taught me toss it at the car they have no idea until they need a paint job

That trailer recovery was more complex than I expected.
Hi Jack twin girls doing well thanks , baby sitting duties now.
That trailer had a walking floor , the main beams tell me that , at a guess someone wanted the floor and fridge unit on the sly
Thanks for watching , normally find trailers full of old tyres.
25:15 - that Scania is such a beauty in that color
Thanks for watching , yes do like a Scania but not easiest trucks to recover.
Quite amazing the trailer wasn’t full of old tyres
Hi Richard , very odd not to be left there empty , normally loaded with rubbish and tyres as you say.
@@HeavyRecoverywithSteve I was just glad for you that it wasn’t a load of perishables that had gone off when I saw it was a chiller trailer!

Hi Matty, i never seen floor removed before they normally left full up with rubbish or tyres which they cant get rid of.

Great video.... but one thing that baffled me.. How do you see air leaks. If it's not in water..
Hi George thanks for watching , you can normally hear the air leaks if traffic passing is light.
At 18.30 on the video you said I carnt see any air leaks. I know you can hear them.
Are the taco rules the same for you or do you have an exemption on some?

Hi and thanks for watching.
why do hauliers abandon these? surely worth a few quid in scrap?
Hi thanks for watching , not normally find trailers abandoned these day with price of scrap metal.
? Sir when you recover a abandoned trailer as in this case how do they track down the owner operator of it prior to deciding it is abandoned
Hi Reg thanks for watching , normally council do that prior to us getting the call to recover it.
How nice of the people who abandoned this trailer to remove the floor boards so you have somewhere to strap the broken axel to 🙃
Thanks for watching , yes made job easier mate , considerate people.
@@HeavyRecoverywithSteve just a shame they offset it by removing the o-ring from the air line 🙃
