Pretty spicy pulling back out into lane 1, people ignoring the X lane closed sign. Thankfully most people pay attention but some must be assuming the lane was closed for a bit of a laugh or something. Great work dude, kudos.
Hi Steve, hope you're ok, been looking forward to a video for a while now, been a while since this last one, looking forward to the next one if possible, thank you
Great work again Steve ! 👌🏻 It must be a nice change to get under in a new(ish) clean area that has no oil/diesel spills and the worst one, signs/smells of truckers tizer. Bad enough walking through it in service areas. 😝
Good to see you back Steve, (hope you had a good holiday) great to see a nice recovery with a good ending, (even if 2 drivers thought they knew better),. Stay safe mate.....
Great video again Steve . Just shows the insane way of getting 4 Lanes of traffic borne out by 2 vehicles going against the gantry lights . Stay safe and healthy ..
It can get pretty spicy pulling back out into lane 1 but thankfully some people use common scene and let you do your move. great work bud and another good video
I still think I'll leave the recovery to you Steve, at 80 my days of driving psvs and hgvs are long gone!! Being disabled now I have stopped driving sold my car and I now use a mobility scooter so I don't think I will give you any trade!! Still you stay safe out there there are too many idiots. Best regards Ken
Hi! Have you considered putting reflective tape (like the one on trailers and cab doors) on the inside of your doors? So when you open it for traffic, they can see it. There was a good example of it on your channel already. You can use less, more, you can be aesthetic and cut out the tape so it flows with body lines, however you want, but at the end of the day i think its a major safety upgrade im not sure why is it not mandatory. Or having a new reg. That manufacturers could put it with their door card design integrated. This is your video which the example was given from: "TRUCK BREAKDOWN RECOVERY ON M4 MOTORWAY EMERGENCY REFUGE AREA!" And you can see it from 15:50 for passenger side. 16:00-onwards is the driver door. Cheers mate!
Thank you Steve Another great video I haven't driven on a smart motorway. But those 2 cars that were in that lane.I hope they get a ticket.😊 Have a safe week 😊
Nice to see you again Steve 😊, hope you're well mate. Thanks for posting this recovery. Looking forward to more of the same. Take care sir, best wishes Gary 😊.
Hi Steve - just as-well your on your guard out there those 2 cars' ignoring the red X hope highways' have them on camera as that is now points' on the licence as-well as a fine another professional recovery from you stay safe out there M8.
Nice to see you back Steve. A couple of complete idiots ignoring the red 'X', I don't think you get enough danger money for motorway recoveries. And don't get me started on Smart Motorways! Great job, thanks for sharing.
Hi Steve, great video again, love your humor, i've asked it also with a previous video, are you familiar with the VDZ System for truck towing? It's a in NL developed system which makes towing a lot easier
Thanks for watching , company has a VDZ system but never used it myself , look good bit of kit but not sure how much i would use for general towing with my truck.
Very interesting video. I have huge respect for truck drivers, they keep the country running. As for stupid car drivers who ignore the red X lane, i hope they got a letter in the post and a hefty fine. Stay safe Steve, good job.
nice one steve! Quick question: i was watching old grand designs episodes a while back and a couple building a triangular house was having a big red london bus delivered to their yard. i saw the towing truck on tv and thought i'd recognized your voice. Was that you? Thanks again for the video!
Thanks for watching , yes was me mate , they cut out the footage of me getting bus into drive and owner thanking me , just bus grounding on slope , would not do TV again.
Hi Steve.. I've not long got back into the recovery game.. after spending 23 years as a class 1 tanker driver.. Anyway the firm I'm with ate planning on putting my onto the heavies.. which i am looking forward to, but at the same time, daunting as I'm worried about pulling and manoeuvring outfits of such size and length.. Am I worrying about nothing?.. or are there certain things i should look out for?.. Anyway Steve.. keep up with the fantastic and informative vids.. stay safe Steve..
Hi Thanks for watching , your be fine mate with your experience towing , reversing with a artic on tow takes a bit of practice but normally recovering into Distributions sites we uncouple from trailer than a shunter with park it up , so only unit to worry about.
@HeavyRecoverywithSteve Thanks for getting back to me Steve.. It's good to know that with RDC's they tend to look after you regarding the trailers.. Bit am i right in thinking that when towing, and having 2 pivot points, especially when pulling an artic.. the artic and trailer basically follows the wheels of the recovery truck?.. bit like thr old wagon and drags?( rigid and trailer on dolly).. Just have to take wider turns etc..
It's Been a while, But always an interesting watch Steve, bit dodgy pulling out in to lane one, some just don't understand what the overheads are for on the motorways...
@Heavy Recovery Steve I so admire your bravery !!!!! And i salute 🫡you for keeping us ALL safe , how you keep focused !!!🫣 Placing all ur equipment up n stuff !!! Ur knowledge on the different trucks and the drive shafts ! Q, how comes u didnt take out the one on the other side to also ? And what happens IF it is on the live lane side, wud u get a labe closed to remove it ? I mean like do other trucks have em in the other side to at all ????? them air lines wrapping round the cab , crazy that , Well cool vid , really interesting i subbed up , as i watched 👀 Really good stuff , Take very great care SIR RESPECT 🙏
Hi Mathew thanks for watching , you can remove either half shaft to disconnect the drive to gearbox but easier to refit half shaft not on diff lock side. I would always try and remove the half shaft on n/side now for safety and worry about refitting the half shaft on diff lock side later , try and keep working to n/side where possible.
Definetely a ECU like you say ..I remember when i had it when it was not a known issue..Luckily i had a spare ECU which i could fit and confirm the issue .....I told you they would strip and not replace your box lol...
Hey Steve, outta curiosity what manufacture/spec is the wrecker body on that truck of yours, and heck, whats the chassis platform too? I`m a nerd and get off at specifications and such.
@HeavyRecoverywithSteve interesting, wonder if the box was built by miller for that "cab-over" configuration your truck has, I'm actually aware of Miller Industries, but never seen something quite like this. Bet Boniface did a bunch of work to it no?
Classic example of why smart motorways are a terrible idea. The extra lane doesn’t really help as I’m seeing no end of truckers that will not use it for fear of ploughing into a broken down vehicle and the lane discipline of every other road user is a joke and completely negates having extra lanes. I really don’t envy you getting a fully laden vehicle out of there.
Hi Arthur , job is 24/7 so you have drivers working on shift patterns and on call basis working when required to cover this period. So be on different hours and money so hard to a figure on years earnings.
Hi thanks for watching , trailer was heading back to company depot to be unloaded and sorted for home deliveries onto smaller trucks. Company did not have a spare unit and driver to send out to trailer.
Pretty spicy pulling back out into lane 1, people ignoring the X lane closed sign. Thankfully most people pay attention but some must be assuming the lane was closed for a bit of a laugh or something. Great work dude, kudos.
Thanks for watching.
If the cameras are any good it should be a 5 year ban for not obeying the closed lane sign.
Morning Steve, hope you have a great warm Monday ahead. Your truck looking great as usual….
Always a busy man, take good care buddy…. ❤
Thanks, you too!
Nice to see you again. Sorry for the truck driver. But in safe hands.

Hi James thanks for watching again.
I live in dover and love seeing the wreckers pulling up jubilee way A2. Some sound out this F16 yesterday
Thanks for watching , like the sound of the old trucks working hard , new ones sound so strangled.
Hi Steve. Glad to see another one. Another brilliant video. You do get in some situations though🤣
Thanks for watching again Thomas , glad you liked it.

Welcome Harry , thanks very much for watching.
Looks like that truck likes to run against the kerb, that tyre looked hammered 😳

Thanks James for watching , new tyres mate lol.

Hi Steve, what's the weight of your recovery truck? And the truck and trailer you are rescuing is at full weight? Great vid mate, thanks again.
Thanks for watching , recovery truck weighs in about 20 tonnes so if unit and trailer fully loaded it could be 64 tonnes.
Missed your content buddy 👌
Hi Steve , thanks for that mate.
STTEEEEEEEEEEEVVVEE Glad your good man!!
Thanks Jay , Cheers.
Any chance you can get info or post a video of the trailer lights reel that’s mounted on the back that’s like your air reel
Hi Dan thanks for watching , will do.
How you getting on with highways new rules with only a lane divert?
Thanks for watching , unfortunately not everyone takes much notice of Red X means lane is closed.
Motorway may be smart, shame about those two using it. Quality video as always.

Hey Steve, outta curiosity what manufacture/spec is the wrecker body on that truck of yours, and heck, whats the chassis platform too? I`m a nerd and get off at specifications and such.
Hi Edward , the Aluminium body was made in US by Miller Industries then shipped over , then Boniface Engineering built the truck up from there in Uk.
@HeavyRecoverywithSteve interesting, wonder if the box was built by miller for that "cab-over" configuration your truck has, I'm actually aware of Miller Industries, but never seen something quite like this. Bet Boniface did a bunch of work to it no?
No clue about this stuff but is there any value in having extra hooks for the axle to avoid it bending when you lift it?
Hi Kevin thanks for watching , pretty solid mate them front axles.

Hello! If I were to purchase a 2003 Mercedes Benz Citaro, would you be able to tow it? And how much would it cost? it’s a single decker bus.
Thanks for watching , have filmed a Citaro bus on channel , heavy recovery is normally charged out by the hour.
Classic example of why smart motorways are a terrible idea. Hi Edward , you'll have to keep watching on a loop mate , try and find another job soon to film.
Hi Steve, ballpark figure how can a hg recovery driver earn a year? One man band owning his own truck vs driving for a company?
Hi Arthur , job is 24/7 so you have drivers working on shift patterns and on call basis working when required to cover this period. So be on different hours and money so hard to a figure on years earnings.
Hi we're have you been ❤❤❤
Hi Kenneth thanks for watching , been busy working but not much worth filming to be honest.
Hi Sir
Hi Ian , thanks for watching.
My dad works for R&S he drive a MAN tiltbed and he says the never send him into London even though he likes going into London and nobody else does😂😂
Thanks for watching , your Dad must drive a truck that is not London compliant mate , lucky man not having to go into London.
😊👍
Why can they not just pull the trailer with another tractor unit to get the deliveries done? Why unload it all?
Hi thanks for watching , trailer was heading back to company depot to be unloaded and sorted for home deliveries onto smaller trucks. Company did not have a spare unit and driver to send out to trailer.
