    i passed my driving test (car) a few weeks ago and drive a very small 3 door nissan micra, so watching your channel of your driving massive long vehicals around is really interesting and how to navigate and approach different situations and your spatial awareness is insane

      Should try watching the Aussie Road Trains if you want to see massive vehicles

    • @derektaylor2941
      @derektaylor2941 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@stratoreyener461when you consider the length of the wrecker, which it's carrying a tractor+ trailer ('rig' for USA viewers) that's not far short of an Australian road train. I have towed failed buses using a bus converted into a wrecker and that's 80ft. Not as big as this, but not bending in as many places, so can be a right sod for sharp turns (as most bus depots seem to have right by their entrance)

    • @55VickyV
      @55VickyV ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! That’s a lot of turns. I would have been lost after the first two. Of course the fact that (for me) you’re driving on the wrong side of the road wouldn’t help! I didn’t see you put safety chairs on. Are they not required in the UK? 🇨🇦 Hi from Canada!

    • @BoskiM
      @BoskiM ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stratoreyener461 also don't forget that most of the roads in Australia and America are long and straight. You could drive for hours on a straight road without seeing any cars ideal for road trains and similar. Whereas in the UK and Europe the roads are twisty and narrow. A challenge driving a big rig/wrecker let alone a lorry 🚛

I hope you are rewarded well for it Sir but to me it looks like you love your job and that means so much 👍

    G'day from Victoria Australia
    Absolutely love watching rescue and recovery videos
    Most of them are from USA so it's awesome watching you over there in the UK Steve.
    It always gets me seeing you take a drive sharft out when all the other roll around messing with the prop sharft instead. Your way is just so much faster and easier and convenient. Especially on cold wet days.

    • @HeavyRecoverywithSteve
      @HeavyRecoverywithSteve  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Johnny welcome , most of the trucks over here our single drive so only 1 half shaft needed to be removed so alot safer than crawling underneath truck to disconnect prop shaft.

      @johnnyo7621 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@HeavyRecoverywithSteve Well that explains everything. I was scratching my head thinking why you doing it that way,
      It sure is much faster and safer way than messing around underneath. Just have the slight worry of other driver's on the road.
      I absolutely enjoy your content and seeing how you manage some of them roads and streets over there.
      I take my hat of to you sir 🙂

    A really enjoyable video to watch. Thanks very much Steve. I often notice that UK HGV drivers are much better at keeping in their lane, e.g. on a roundabout, than car drivers who often can't seem to follow the lines. You manage to keep in the lanes even when towing unless you are deliberately taking up two lanes for safety. Excellent commentary as usual.

    Maybe if you've been a good lad, Father Christmas might bring you another camera so you can put it on the back to film the casualty vehicle on the boom. I know it'll be a bit more work editing, but it would bring another aspect to it.

    I like to see how methodically you go about connecting up to what you need to tow. It takes year’s of experience to be that professional. A lot of breakdown drivers don’t like to be watched. I’m sure you’re checking a lot more things while telling us what you are doing. And when are drivers going to give those who are required to work in the road a 1.5 metre gap?

    I do like the PoV driving bits. Even boring motorway can always be time lapsed, but I guess that's more work editing when you'd rather be recovering vehicles!

      Thanks for watching David , will try to add more driving when possible now as quite few comments asking for that , Cheers.

    Steve your videos are great. To make it even more interesting, what are the chances of attaching rear facing cameras on either side so that we can get a much better idea of just how tight the space is for some of the turns, backing up etc? I appreciate it would add some editing time, but it sure would be a very interesting camera angle.

    The focus on the trip was great, maybe that could be a bigger part of your videos in general in the future? Anyway, thanks for this great entertainment! 👍🏻👍🏻

    Interesting video. This was the first time on this channel. Luckily I had already seen one of those half shafts on Cutting Edge Engineering Australia so had an idea what it was. 👍👍
