    Instead of making memory smaller they should be working on making it faster, higher capacity and less expensive.

    if it worked like the MicroSIM to NanoSIM did, as in you can cut it down or fit it into an adaptor so you can sill use the NanoSDCARD in a normal SDCARD spot then it may catch on.. there fore its ONLY a form factor change i see it as ok ..
    but if you need a whole new readers etc... i dont see it catching on

    • @mnomadvfx
      @mnomadvfx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MicroSD flash chips and controllers are made to fit that form factor, you could probably not just rip them out and stick them in the NM housing, hence their reduced capacity. SIM cards only need a handful of MB at most so they can fit as small as the connector.

      Store less in less space - the largest NM card is 256 GB, the largest microSD is 1 TB.
      It's a similar problem to battery capacity reduction as they slim the phone thickness and weight while increasing screen size - larger power draw and lower battery capacity to serve it.

    It's a shame that the creation of nanoSD card happened at the wrong time. If it was made a few years before the now infamous and ongoing Huawei Ban, Huawei's nanoSD cards would have took off and sell like hotcakes. Memory card manufacturers like SanDisk and Kingston will make their own nanoSD cards and phone manufacturers would create more nanoSD card slots (both dedicated and hybrid) than microSD card slots for any phones. Prices of nanoSD cards will decrease to similar prices of microSD cards within a few years when sales and demands for nanoSD cards increases.

    Inexpensive... wtf are you on about it's $130+ AUD for a 128GB NANO SD card... that's damn expensive for a slow tier proprietary memory solution.

    Wow, Huawei, really surprising me, when I heard (not exactly but) NM is now only supported by only some high end phones, like Huawei M20, M20X, and M20 pro, I added myself, other lesser phones like, all the others will probably support this in the upcoming years.

      I highly doubt it. The average consumer has no complaints about MicroSD cards. They are extremely easy to find, cheap, and universal. I know I can move my MicroSD card to any other phone that has expandable storage. With this its no good outside of a few Huawei phones. Sony tried many many times to force their own proprietary memory stick formats onto the market a few years ago and never came close to succeeding. Same will happen with this, it will fade away and be forgotten. It doesn't help that Huawei is a no go in the US as well (I don't like that but its the way it is). Its not like MicroSD cards haven't been getting faster, bigger, and cheaper as well and of course will continue to do so.

    Worst memory card ever!
    Regularly ejects itself, is very expensive but offers less storage, breaks after 1 week - 3 months. Already had to replace mine 5 times. Luckily I always had a backup or otherwise I would have to pay 420€ for a data recovery service @gernany

    • @bellaswan9355
      @bellaswan9355 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yikes! I think I'll just regularly pass the stuff to my computer. Not a fan of the idea of paying 100€ every half year for something it should be included. Specially if it doesn't work!?
