Least flawed? It's the most dangerous. It allows from dystopian level inequality, rampant destruction for anything deem profitable, it requires socialist concepts to protect the middle and lower classes. Without unions ,a socialist concept, the working conditions would be worse, our pay would be worse which would lead to even worse health issues and more inequality because the ones forced to work in shitty conditions are the ones that couldn't afford healthcare. Also lowering the taxes of the rich actually made this country less on an innovator because instead of spending money that would be taxed highly into R&D or to employees it is now kept or moved around to appease the investors.

majority of tech in your average iphone was made by publicly funded innovation. the touchscreen, much of the interior, etc. not to mention having a phone in a developed country isnt rlly a luxury anymore as it is a necessity. and despite @noknes's comment, innovation has been happening without the profit incentive for thousands of years. we constantly made better weapons, clothes, cities, agriculture. only limited by our lack of industrialization and trade systems, which has made it innovation and production skyrocket, which also is not inherent to capitalism. but the reality is much of the world is still too poor to afford either of those, which are in capitalist systems.
just because we can enjoy some things in developed capitalist nations does not mean capitalism is inherently a better alternative. it has too many contradictions and issues inherent to itself (wealth inequality, imperialism, worker suppression, corruption, monopolization, chipping away at social programs, wage stagnation, environmental destruction, etc) to function long-term for humans. these are things that cannot be fixed by regulation nor a lack of it. it's only been around 500 years and we are already seeing our planet being destroyed, which the capitalist market yet has a solution for. we are going down a very dark path and saying people have starbucks does not mean anything in the face of this

I think I can help. Communism aims to essentially faze out the government, thus eliminating the ruling class. Socialism has the government control the market. Also, complete communism means that there is no official money, whereas a socialist one would have money that is distributed to its lower class.
To use a questionable analogy, communism is like a bunch of children sharing food equally, whereas socialism is a grownup stepping in to distribute it for them.

None. Both are based in bloated government and an elite ruling class, which is where the unspoken wealth - financially or otherwise, is held. Their other common denominator is soaking the producers of whatever and doling it out in the name of "equity" to bums who don't produce. Neither exalts ambition but, rather, mediocrity - Why work when someone else is paying the bills or the government will take care of me? IOW, they are "nanny states".

    Correction:
This video states that Socialism and Communism works to right the wrong of Capitalism, which is exploitation of the workers and wealth disparity between the rich and the poor.
Socialism and Communism both have problems with exploitation of workers and wealth disparity.
Both take advantage of their workers by forcing those with higher skilled jobs not being allowed to use their higher skills. The reason for this is simple: why work harder when you will still be paid the same?
In Socialism and Communism, there are those who are wealthy and those who are poor. In fact, the disparities between the rich and poor are even greater.
Under Capitalism, the main driving force is the concern and welfare for others. This is the driving force. The reason is simple: If you neighbor doesn't like you or your product, they choose to pick a different product.
Under Socialism and Capitalism, the choices of goods and services are diminished, due to the government control over means of production. This results in greater dependence on government choices than on your own needs and wants.
There is greater freedom in a capitalist system.
Finally, even capitalism has its own faults; but when compare to the other choices, it is far superior.

    • @taylorholmes9329
      @taylorholmes9329 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow.
Basically wrong on every level. Neither Socialism nor Communism disallow higher skilled labor from pursuing those jobs. Cuba, arguably the most communist country, is internationally recognized for its healthcare force; 8.2 doctors per thousand people, 3x the amount in the US and with a lower mortality rate amongst its citizens. The reason for this is simple: the government spends a quarter of its budget on healthcare and another quarter on education. Despite not being paid much more than the average citizen, people are still entering the field of healthcare. Why work harder when you will be paid the same? Well, (and get this it may seem radical but) they actually *enjoy their work and helping people*. Woah.
In Socialism, there are those who are wealthy and those who are middle-class because their basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare are provided by the government.
In Communism (which has never been achieved) the class divide between wealthy and poor is abolished along with currency and private ownership of industry.
Wealth inequality is greater in more capitalist countries and this is an actual fact. Do your own research. The US is ranked #4 in wealth inequality, just ahead of Brazil. Compared to countries with the least inequality: Norway, Denmark, Finland, & Sweden, all countries with robust social welfare programs. Europe’s lower inequality levels are mainly explained by a more equal distribution of pretax incomes rather than by more equalizing taxes and transfer systems.
Under Capitalism, the main driving force is the maximization of profit and the accumulation of wealth. People want to be rewarded for their ingenuity, investments, and economic risks undertaken. The reasoning is simple: humans are self serving by nature but as long as everyone seeks the fulfillment of their own self interest, the material needs of the whole society will be met. Like, literally read The Wealth of Nations.
"Under Socialism and Communism, the choices of goods and services are diminished, due to the government control over means of production." What do you mean by choices?
"This results in greater dependence on government choices than on your own needs and wants." As opposed to dependence on the supply and demand of the market which can not be easily redressed for public grievances?
"There is greater freedom in a capitalist system." Maybe for a few people who have made it to the top. The rest of us have to grind regardless. ah yes the "freedom" to work for low wages here rather than there. everything is on the individual and there's no way to tackle systemic issues such as wealth disparity or worker exploitation. Read up on the history of the US in the early 20th century. This is why socialist principles, like the "weekend" the "8 hour work day" and the "40 hour work week" became standardized. At least, in developed countries. Never mind the Global South...
Purely capitalist countries based solely on the free market have never functioned as for the general welfare; it's kind of antithetical. The same can be said of purely socialist countries. That's why most developed countries have a mix of both, and the countries that have less wealth inequality and greater emphasis on social welfare have leaned more towards *surprise* Socialism.

Wrong! In a communist/socialist society, the workers just own the companies (=> now called cooperatives if run by the workers). As the company is owned by its workers, the money distribution can be fairer, as millions don't go in the hands of a CEO who does nothing but profiting of his workers (do NOT tell me that sitting in a desk and doing papers is a hard thing to do, some workers could be hired to do that).

      @zigoter2185 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@E.C.GoMusicandMore I'll start with the theory and then analyze your examples.
First of all we have to assign definitions to key words.
Government (state)- is a monopoly on arbitration in all conflicts, including conflicts with itself.
Socialism - a system of public ownership of the means of production, where everything is owned by a society as a whole.
Now let's see if we can derive the state (government) from those definitions.
We will start with a premise of scarcity. Real world has scarse goods.
Another premise will be the needs of the people and their willingness to satisfy them using these scarse means. Again, we leave in the world of scarcity, where goods are limited, but human needs seem to have no limits.
If you have scarse means and people chasing them you will inevitably run into conflicts for these means. People will eventually engage in actions, that cannot be both completed in the same time.
An example would be a Crusoe and Friday on an island. Crusoe wants to use a stick to spearfish, Friday wants to use a stick to stoke his fire. We have a conflict, these actions cannot be done in the same time.
So how do you avoid these conflicts?
Using property rights. Private property rights specifically.
If we expand this experiment a little bit and say, that Crusoe was the one to find the stick first, then he has the ultimate right to use this stick in a way he wants.
      Conflict avoided.
What if we use the socialist communal ownership idea on this example. Does it help avoid the conflict?
In a system of communal ownership the Crusoe and Friday both equally own the stick. This does not mitigate the conflict over its usage, in fact it makes conflict unavoidable, since it allows both people to simultaneously use a single scarce good.
How can socialist system mitigate this problem?
First, we have to add atleast 1 person to the experiment, otherwise Crusoe and Friday will have to fight it out.
Now, when we have 3 people owning everything on an island including a stick we can have a vote over who will get to use the stick. Suppose Friday wins the vote. Crusoe has to be forced to give the stick away.
      We can get 2 conclusions.
      1. Socialist property rights theory does not help us avoid conflicts, in fact it makes them unavoidable.
      2. Socialist system requires some entity that will have the power to resolve all conflicts over scarce goods including the conflicts with itself. This entity is also referred to as a *state* or a *government*. Making it democratic does not eliminate the state.
This is obvious even by the etymology of words (which in this case also synonymous to their meaning, linking to etymology just illustrates it better)
Democracy - rule of the people.
      Anarchy - no rulers.
      Anarchy is antidemocratic.
      Democracy is statist.
Since socialism can't offer us anything better than a direct democracy, socialism is statist.
I will discuss your historical examples in a follow-up comment.

  • @SPACEMONKEY288
    @SPACEMONKEY288 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    This is wrong and misleading.
    It’s as simple as this..
Having ownership over the modes of production is the point of all of this.
The modes of production are things like the land, the factory’s, the workplace, the state etc, things used as control and things used to produce things are the modes of production.
Capitalist want individuals to hold total control and power over the modes of production privately.
Socialist want no private ownership instead they want all members involved to hold democratic power over the modes of production, for example- workers owning the work place together democratically as a team would be socialist. A community owning the land together is socialist, the people owning the state democratically is socialist. Etc etc socialism is pure democracy over the modes of production by the members who are involved directly with it. It does not mean state owns things, the people do.
Communism is a step out of socialism where it democracy over all modes of production is accepted as a norm and the state/ government can be abolished, class can be abolished, and private property can be abolished.
Private property is not you’re car or you’re tooth brush, private property is property used to generate wealth off someone else. If the society is communist then everything the people produce is to be shared among the people. It’s a collective society where everyone works towards the betterment of society it’s self freely, the advancement of humanity would lie solely in the hands of the people and community’s themselves.

      @SPACEMONKEY288 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@Curls3c I support socialism and communism both. I support both groups and all the factions and political groups of these ideas.
The theory’s and methods to achieve it are a struggle forsure and the main reasons there so many different socialist/ communist groups. They often argue about how to achieve a socialism/ communism without being crushed by imperial powers.
I enjoy listening to the back and forth debating that takes place between all the different groups like the anarchist, the democratic socialist, the authoritarian socialist the syndicalist, the Leninist, Maoist etc
All of them wanna achieve the same goal in the end of cooperative and collective ownership of the people, for the people. But to create this system of human unity and workers solidarity its a real challenge for the reasons I’ll name below..
For one it’s obvious those in elitist positions of powers are not friendly to the idea of allowing such movements room to grow.
For this very reason every attempt of workers mobilizing In solidarity not just in america but around the entire globe is almost always met with state oppression or violence from the capitalist state who protect the interests of the elitist class.
In more large scale efforts to create the conditions that allow socialism or communism room to grow naturally they are always met with harsh economic sanctions and embargo’s ment to cripple and starve whole nations, or there met with foreign military invasions, coup attempts, assassinations, foreign meddling, manipulation, counter terrorism etc etc there’s always a big plot from elites nations to knee cap and destroy the effort.
So coming at it from a democratic point of view the movement faces many challenges, a big one is propaganda used to divert the masses of people away from the subject or confuse everyone on the topic in general, although many European nations have had great grassroot success in creating socialist dominated city’s and towns that are almost completely worker owned/ democratically cooperatively run by the community’s and workers themselves, there are also often met with many obstacles, one being there government’s are always in favor of capitalist domination over cooperative dominance and they write laws and pass bills that target unions or workerplace democracy’s. Europe is still home to many grassroots socialist success story’s though.
As for the rest of the world, Democracy is just not really an option for the 3rd world, there governments are extremely corrupted from all angles by foreign investors and monopoly capitalist of richer nations who aim to maintain control and dominance over global markets and major supply chains, some of there ties run back into the colonial era when capitalist established this global network through death, plunder and slavery. Other more recent developments were made through imperialist and fascist action.
simply put they just pay desperate thugs good money to kill and scare people who organize and structure worker movements.
Revolution seems like the 3rd worlds best option to escape the imperial strangle. They forsure have the hardest mountain to climb to escape capitalism and establish Socialism.

Another problem is system dependancy and control, you are not free to choose how much you work and where you work as state provides for you you need contribute as you are damanded, in capitalism you are basically free to choose, do you wish to be factory worker, office worker, farmer and maybe you aquire enought wealth to retire at 50. Another problem with communism is to provide for you government needs to know all abuot you and can choose not to provide to you if you misbeave or dont follow ideology. Capitalism biggest probelm is that Goverment supports enrichment of rich and keep poor in poverty with high taxes and regulations and some people are just too rich. My thought is that you forgot to mention how capitalism fights against the wrongs of communism and socialism. First you straight up didn’t mention that communist states never became fully communist because it’s impossible. And then didn’t point out that this didn’t stop the maniacs in charge from trying to make it happen anyway and literally killing more in the 20th century than the fascists. If you are trying to educate people I think it is pretty dishonest to not point out that communists were the most awful and murderous people of the 20th century, and considering the fascists murdered six million Jews that is a crazy amount of murder and oppression to gloss over. You also fail to point out that socialist systems are inherently authoritarian as they make everyone dependent on the the central authority of the government. With no private ownership everyone is working for state co., and if you do something state co doesn’t like then you are out of a job. You also fail to point out the advantage of capitalism is market pricing. The monopolies of socialist systems lead to deformations of price as there is no practical way to set realistic prices without an open market.

Socialism and communism why do people from the USA still talk about this? Capitalism is for sure economically the best system anyway. But everything can be improved. I am European like many here I live in a country that adds social aspects to it. Important here is that besides the free market we choose freely and democratically that there is a high-quality health care, education that does not put us in debt for years, justice that is affordable and focuses on rehabilitating our prisoners who receive psychological guidance and training. Life imprisonment is the heaviest penalty and not the death penalty. Because we never want to have on our conscience that we as a society want to kill that one innocent among the 99 others who deserve it. The height of a civilization you see how people care/ treath the weakest and witch respect the people have for animal rights. Free to go and free to talk about everything. Critical because our next chalenge is our energy, transport and innovation to become as green as possible. Those challenges are inportent. Not systems who are dead or not by us in the west. It almost kept alive as a kind of enemy . Than it is not necessary to give people those certain social elements which have proven their usefulness and which one could consider as an insurance for much less crime and more well-being.Think politicians who are sponsored by industry and wall street are not really independent. Just like with us, there is still a lot of work to do.

Of the three concepts, two are Government structures, historically oppressive Government structures, Capitalism is not necessarily a form of governing. Capitalism is simply what people engage in when freedom and liberty exist.
To say that Capitalism is derived from Feudalism is a Marxist mantra and a falsehood. Feudalism involves a monopoly on land ownership, lords over said lands and fiefs or peasants. Does that sound like modern America, or a medieval Monarchy? Capitalism is more accurately described as a modern, monetized version of the barter system.

what oversimplified drivel: socialism means little more than an attempt to achieve material equality through the imposition of high taxes on the wealthy to fund massive, mandatory welfare programs within a capitalist system. the major economic systems are in order of their historical emergence are: feudalism vs distributism vs capitalism vs collectivism vs corporatism. Syndicalism (worker-owned and run co-ops or syndicates) was developed later as a compliment to distributism and extends its central idea of widely dispersed ownership of productive properties to co-ops like schools, hospitals, mines and factories.

Not bad.. Not totally unfair and inaccurate. When you reported criticisms of Marxism in another show you kept on saying experts say which is a bad way to argue and modern big business is close to the state and too big to fail which accords with Marxism. You are right that in the past hundred years there has been somewhere in the world governments claiming to be guided by Marxism and yet nowhere is there a classless society or anything like it. On the other hand no society on earth exists which is a perfect market without collapse, strong tendency to monopoly and goes on for a long time without war So some go on searching. and class struggle continues.

Capitalism good compared to Feudalism, obsolete nowdays, therefore bad.

Yeah, no. You drew images of PERSONAL PROPERTY and crossed it out as "PRIVATE property". What you claim we want to "take away or severely diminish" is exactly what we want more people to have (with the exception of cars in exchange for QUALITY public transportation). We don't want to take away your toothbrush, we don't want to take away your video games, we don't want to take away your home, we don't want to take away your family farm, we don't want to take away anything that you personally use. We just want the factories and other workplaces to be owned and operated by the workers not private employers in order to abolish the exploitation of wage slavery.

@@EarlOSandwich can you live in a family farm comfortably? Yes. Can you live in a family factory comfortably? No. A family farm is of your personal use because it doesn't produce really that much unless it's a super big ass farm, in which case it would not be a family farm.

You seem to have accidentally typed in a lot of "don't"s that don't belong. Here, let me fix it:
"we -don't- want to take away your video games, we -don't- want to take away your home, we -don't- want to take away your family farm, we -don't- want to take away anything that you personally use."
Let's face it. The farmers on a family farm sell their surplus crops to non-farmers in exchange for supplies and comforts that they can't make themselves. Of course, you are going to call it a "means of production" and seize it. And I am not impressed by your attempt to tell people not to look too closely.

You got socialism 98% wrong and Cuba and North Korea are 110% Communist until recently. Communism means the governments owns everything and can give or take anything away from you. Under socialism there is a free market and personal ownership. However taxes are used for things like, national defense, roads, highways, law enforcement, lifeguards, forest rangers, and even trash pick up. In many social list countries basic medical needs are free but you always have the freedom to find your own doctor and pay for your own treatment if you want a different doctor. In my view the US is socialist for things like roads and national defense but wants to say they are a pure capitalist society when it comes to healthcare.

this is what we see when any attempt is made to implement them ,even the less extreme social democracy's that have been shown to work to the benefit of a nation are slowly being ebbed away and drifting ever towards Corporate Fascism ,
