3:08 arguably one of the best Frohs ever, inviting the gods to step onto the bridge. A small but important part. His last note 3:32, which latches onto the Valhalla theme, is so pure and dignified.

@@juanafariasestuardo5961 the one normal recording by Furtwangler is St. Mattew Passion with Elisabeth Grummer. He performs too dull and dry, but for Bach's music such interpretaion is normal. But how much romantic music was spoiled by this dull conductor! He makes each detail, each feature of the music to be clearly heard, but he omits the full impression, Furtwangler ruines music to separate sounds and details. Romantic music must not be performed such way. Karajan is much more emotional and involved, I don't Das Rheingold and Die Walkure better than his.

@@alexsandroalvesartecultura5116 Wrong. The fact that there has a Hitler existed, does not make Wagner's music no german. Wagner although antisemitic, did never say "kill".
After all there it is very nice for musical pieces to have different national colour. Except if we are enemies of diversity.
Greeks monuments, theater, philosophy, belong to humanity, but are still greeks.

Karajan beautifully captures the vainglory and bombast of the final orchestral peroration. Empty chest-thumping and complacent smugness of a doomed race of gods. The only music more devoid of nobility in the Ring is the orchestral passage accompanying Siegfried's battle with Fafner.

The bifrost rainbow bridge appears and the glittering Valhalla emerges out of the mist. Wotan to his wife Fricka: "Follow me wife and live with me forever in Valhalla". They hold hands and cross the rainbow with the other gods entering Valhalla. Loge: aside, to himself, " They are hastening on to their end! Ashamed am I of having had dealings with them. I wish I could turn back to flickering flames and destroy them rather than blindly sink with the blind. Who knows what I'll do."

I met Donald Grobe at a party in Berlin in 1984. He was very nice to me; I think he was flattered because I, an American, recognized him from having listened to this very recording of DAS RHEINGOLD. He gave me his comps to the Deutscheoper where he was performing as Don Ottavio in DON GIOVANNI that night. Fantastic performance. His wife told me that he was working on the role of Loge, but I don't know whether or not he ever sang it. Loge is not really right for his voice, IMHO.

martillo. Durante lo que sigue, la
niebla va haciéndose cada vez mas
      densa)
      ¡Aquí! ¡Aquí! ¡Acá!
      ¡Ven a mí niebla!
      ¡Vahos, venid a mí!
      ¡Donner, vuestro señor,
os llama a que forméis ante él!
      Al balanceo de mi martillo,
      flotante vapor y niebla,
      venid acá.
      ¡Donner, vuestro señor,
os llama a que forméis ante él!
      ¡Aquí! ¡Aquí! ¡Acá!
      (Donner desaparece totalmente
      envuelto en una nube tormentosa
cada vez más negra. Se oye el
      pesado golpe del martillo de
      Donner contra una peña. Un
      deslumbrante relámpago atraviesa
      la nube, siguéndole un violento
      trueno. Froh ha desaparecido
también en la oscuridad. A Froh:)
