  • This is a monumental composition!
    The gods are apparently happy because their gonna get into their new home: Valhalla. But, as Loge and the Rhinemaidens say, this is just a false feeling, for the end of the gods is nigh.
    Music: "Heda Heda Hedo" until the end of the music drama Das Rheingold
    Composer: Richard Wagner
    Orchestra: Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic

      @@gnancapi4699 if you pay attention to the story so far, in Prometheus and Covenant, you should know that David's aspiration is to become a god. The switcheroo in Covenant is just short of ham-fisted. I did think it clever that at one point, the wind blows "Walter's" hood up over his head to mimic David's first appearance in Covenant. I laughed out loud.
      David holding the alien embryos in his throat until on board the ship, and those capsules being identical to what's on the ship, is a plot hole, but these movies aren't made to explain every last detail.

    I met a traveller from an antique land
    Who said:-Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
    Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
    Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown
    And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
    Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
    Which yet survive, stamp'd on these lifeless things,
    The hand that mock'd them and the heart that fed.
    And on the pedestal these words appear:
    "My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
    Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
    Nothing beside remains: round the decay
    Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
    The lone and level sands stretch far away.

      They were civils, while the people in Prometheus were military. I think that's pretty straightforward. I don't think, that's in the original piece (btw it's composed for a full orchestra. not just for
      a gigantic awkward brass-section. Ashame considering how Wagner mastered to colour his pieces by paying close attention to the sound of each instrument). In the beginning, there is also a motiv, that's associated with Hagen in Götterdämmerung, that I know for sure, isn't in the original. And also, neither of them would make sense in the particular context.

    having been listening to the real Rheingold for the last 35 years and seen it several times live with singers, I suspect that Wagner will be turning in his grave at this rendition but strangely enough I quite like it's bombastic shamlessness especially at 1.00 where the giant brass band really goes mad in a way that wouldn't be dared on the stage.
    Yeah, why not,......... turning in his grave maybe, but Wagner would have still taken the money and been glad that the world was hearing more of his music than just The Ride of The Valkyries!

    • @advokata
      @advokata 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I doubt that Wagner would be turning in his grave. Why should he? If I was an artist, I'd be flattered if people still took my art seriously enough over 100 years later to make "covers" of it.

    • @1davidpeter
      @1davidpeter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...thats why I said maybe......but bearing in mind the work he lavished upon the original and his ambitions to have the work performed exactly as he intended, being a great artist as he was, I think he would be disappointed that it was so roughly treated - but who knows, - he's dead.

    WAGNER LEITMOTIFS:
    0:06 "THE CURSE OF THE RING"
    0:28 "POWER OF THE RING"
    0:45 "DONNER- THE GOD OF THUNDERS"
    1:41 "DONNER- THE GOD OF THUNDERS"
    2:22 "RAINBOW"
    3:15 "VALHALLA"
    4:53 "RHINENGOLD- RHINEMAIDEN'S LAMENT"
    6:58 "VALHALLA"
    7:03 "TWILIGHT OF GODS"
    7:23 "SIEGFRIED" - (THIS IS A MISTAKE, THIS LEITMOTIF HAS NO SENSE HERE. BECAUSE HERE WE SHOULD HAD LISTENED: THE SWORD. )
    CONCLUSION: THIS IS A BAD COPY OF A MASTERPIECE.

      original Wagner's works had opera so this is more of a contemporary version.

    • @Kirilo81
      @Kirilo81 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The combination of twilight of the gods and Siegfried is just copied from the end of Götterdämmerung. Many places, especially the few seconds from 7:13 on hurt my ears from a technical POV; no comparison to a good classical recording, e.g. th-cam.com/video/o0B6W9hOzYM/w-d-xo.html

    The "Alien" idea was wrongly deveopled in this excelent movie. The original idea of showing the destruction of a entire civilization was lost in the course of the film and replaced by the old stereotype of the creature of science fiction that chases the crew of some spaceship. I think they should exclude the ferocious and terrorific alien creature, and let movie proceed just like it was done. There we'd see something new... and kind of revolucionary, the result would be great,

    Cette instrumentation est un attentat à l'acoustique !
    Si j'ai bien compris, l'idée est de faire jouer les parties de bois et de cordes par les cuivres.
    C'est monstrueux !
    Le chef d'orchestre de la fanfare municipale s'en sortirait que mieux ça.
    Manque plus que la partie de harpe jouée par un tuba ....
    La prochaine version peut-être ....
