    When fine tuning the up limit, pressing the down button caused the same beeping on my unit. I left the unit unplugged for 1/2 an hour or so, then it mysteriously started working. Granted this did take several tries. Also make sure the motor does not have too much tension on the track. That will cause it to kick out the limits. I hope you were able to fix the problem. Your post and all the responses were a great help to me.

      I had the same problem as the user in the video and I followed your steps as well as one from another user who said that when starting to set the lower limit, tap the down button a few times at first then slowly start holding it down for a second or two and not keeping it held down. When I started tapping it for a second at a time the motor finally started to move down!!! Thank you!

    Call a repairman. I am one myself. They will know to have the J-arm connected to the trolly when setting the limits and force but not before making sure the door is balanced by having the springs at the right tension. If you have your door in manual and it’s falling to the ground from the halfway position, you either have the wrong springs or your springs need tuned-up.

      Hello to you Jeffrey. The problem cause by the "HALL SENSOR" I & many other Ryobi customer having the same problem. I have contacted the tech supports directly from RYOBI company multiple times. It is not solvable problem !!??? They do not sell just the "HALL SENSOR" itself, , they do not sell the electronic board that the Hall sensor resided on & They do not sell just the whole control unit. & The RYOBI is stopped making & selling the RYOBI garage door opener all together due to some kind of the law suite !!!!

      Can confirm this is a likely issue.
      Repairman came and fixed the tension but claimed the motor was broken and tried to upsell me another one, which I politely declined.
      Once the tension was correctly set I was able to reset the limits with no problem.

    Idk if it’s too late for you but I finally fixed this problem after having a power outage from bad weather. Released the Emergency rope for the outer trolley to manually open/close my garage until power came back on later. I accidentally powered it UP without the garage door attached so the inner trolley got stuck inside the motor base and beeped continuously when trying to reset the limits.
    Idk how it functions but I found this method out from pressing buttons out of frustration until it finally worked again lol
    Press and hold the “UP” button until it blinks BUT instead of pressing Up again, press the “DOWN” button repeatedly (Rapid Fire for as long as possible) until you hear the motor start running again and the inner trolley should come back out to connect with the outer. Good luck 👍

    I just had a similar problem. This unit has worked pretty darn well for me for years. Apparently mine lost its down settings or something. It would start to go down the trolly would move about a foot then immediately stop and return to the up position. I checked balance of the door, no cables broken nothing sticking in the tracks. I was getting annoyed. I got the door the close for me by using the car clicker and pulling the door down as it started to travel all the way until it meet bottom. That worked… but the next time trying to close it bam same thing. Stops after roughly a foot and returns up. This all started the morning after this Christmas 2022 arctic air and it got to roughy 2 degree F here. I was at a loss until I found your video and read through the comments. It gave me hope to try and reset the travel limits of the motor/trolly/door. And by George it worked! I didn’t have to tap repeatedly on the buttons but my guess is due to me having slightly different symptoms. Who knows. Thanks again!

    I had similar issus of the travel limits resetting. I would have to reset it just about daily. I had someone some service the door and springs (hadn't done it since I bought it, old opener never had an issue). It was out of balance. Have not had an issue since. There are some quirks with these but I have installed my second one and now have the issues worked out. The app causes problems initially. It never appears to finish connecting to the door sensor but just exit the app. It will start working the next day.

    Here in November ‘21 with a fix:
    Had the same issue and stuck the carriage at the complete “bottom” of the track in both the up and down limits trying to outsmart myself to fix it.
    To fix it, I set the up limit at its current position (“at the bottom”) and then activated the down switch for setting (blinking mode).
    Even though it was stuck at the “bottom” of the track and would just beep when I tried to move the carriage “up” while setting the up limit, I was able to hold the up button to set the bottom limit and PRESTO it moved “up” the track with zero issue.
    At that point I reengaged the garage door latch, let the carriage make contact, and reset the limits like normal with no problem.
    Root cause: I had my garage door mechanical assembly completely replaced 10 months ago (torsion tube, rollers, springs, etc.) and about a month or two prior the roller started making a grinding noise. I thought nothing of it and just sprayed some WD40 and the noise went away a little while after.
    When the motor gave out and I released the latch to manually open it, turns out there was zero tension and I had to deadlift the door and it would slide down if not perfectly balanced at the top position.
    When I called the installer back for a warranty repair, the serviceman stated that the tension required “adjusting”. Turns out the motor was deadlifting the door for who knows how long, which caused it to give out in the first place!!
    So while the sensors and other troubleshoots provided by others may be the issue, also release the door and check that there isn’t an issue in your assembly causing undue strain on the motor.
    Hope this helps everyone.

    As long as you have a green transmitter and a red receiver light then your sensors are working properly. Listening to bad advice like replacing random parts they just happen to think of, calling a repair man - how absurd, or even suggesting to buy a more expensive garage door opener when you're obviously invested with accessories isn't at all helpful in any way, shape or form.

    Check your sensors. If they are misaligned then you'll have that issue because it's trying to prevent an accident on the DOWN operation. It thinks something is in the way of the door. If the sensor light is solid green on one and solid red on the other then it's aligned. If one of the lights is out or blinking, then it's out of line.

    First thing you should check is the safety sensors. Since you are having trouble on the close the safety sensors are a common problem with that symptom.

      Ryobi GDO is a nightmare for professtional installers not because of poor quality of the GDO, in fact, it is a very built unit. The problem is, it just takes too much time to get the Wi-Fi app working because of the relatively poor Wi-Fi signal in most garages.

  • @andrewkrueger4984
    @andrewkrueger4984 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    To start off, this opener is a PoS. It's been nothing but a headache since the very first day. I was having the same issue as the video shows and was so close to buying a new opener. However, I never thought to press the down button rapidly. I tried that. I noticed that when programming the up you could hear the electric motor receive current when pressing the button rapidly. When programming the down I didn't hear the same thing, initially. After about 10 rapid presses I started to hear it. After that I could hold the down and it would drive. I then set the stops. Just for good measure I removed all power (including battery) and let the opener sit for about 5 mins. I then plugged it back in and replaced the battery. When programming the down, it still worked properly. This may only be a temporary "fix" but maybe it will work for some of you out there.

      @Andrew I've had this problem only 2 times in the 3 years of owning mine. The first was last year when I found out Chamberlain had a lawsuit against them prohibiting Ryobi from selling any more till 2023, only to find out today that the suit was overturned and they just decided to not manufacture them anymore. Too bad as they are great openers with all the attachments they had.
      All that said, if you're getting the beeps, it's the sensor(s). The best way to tell is to look at the door on the app and if there is a red light at the bottom left of the door, the sensor isn't working which is why you're getting those beeps. Replace the sensors with Chamberlain sensors which can be found at HomeDepot for $31 a pair. They are model number 801CB. HOWEVER, you need to reverse the polarity to get them to work. The solid white lead will go to G and the white with a black stripe will go to W. I just replaced all sensors due to a bad storm last week and all is working fine. Once you replace them, do your UP limit first by holding the Up button for 3-5 seconds. once you get it to where you want, hit the S button. Now hold the Down button 3-5 till it blinks and set the down limit to where you want, press the S button. Now you NEED to hit the Up button once, then the Down button once to cycle it. All should work fine. Let me know how. you make out.

    When I set the travel limits on mine I actually let the opener move the door up (set limit) and down (set limit). I'm guessing the unit isn't detecting the weight/resistance of door so it tripping out.

All the problem is gone when I set my garage sensor at a more stable and less vibration place as the garage is being use frequently. Just keep checking the sensor and adjust it position even if it's solid lit. Hope this help

    Had the same in the other direction. The trolley popped too far forward when I released the door. The trolley would not come back and the motor kept beeping. After trying everything I unplugged the motor and removed the battery. Came back the next day. Pulled out a section of the return side of the belt. While keeping tension I attempted to reset the limits and the trolley came back. All works fine now. Maybe your trolley is too far back

  • @johnnyhalo6725
    @johnnyhalo6725 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    THE SOLUTION, STEP BY STEP.
    It's incredibly simple. Engage the trolley by pulling the emergency rope and lifting the door manually until you engage the trolley. Then set your travel limits one at a time. First press Up until it blinks. Then press Up until the door is open. Then press Set. Then press Down until it blinks. Then press Down until it closes. Then press Set. Then you test it to complete programming the travel limits. Press Up one time and the door opens. Press Down one time and the door closes. That's it. Travel limits are now set. You're done.

    • @Cosmicsloth
      @Cosmicsloth 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      THIS IS THE RIGHT ANSWER. YOU THINK YOU WOULD BE DONE AFTER HITTING SET ON BOTH DOWN AND UP BUT IT'S NOT FIXED UNTIL YOU TEST BOTH DOWN AND UP AFTER.

  • @justicecenter
    @justicecenter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    You are not following the proper procedure for set up. When you do the UP limit you push button to get it to blink but then you push the SET button WRONG. Forget the fact that the trolley is already all the way to top you still need to push the UP button after it starts to flash before you hit the SET button. That's why the DOWN setting doesn't work because you forgot one of the steps for UP. If done right, setting the limits you then have to test the opener by pushing the UP button and letting the door cycle open and then push the DOWN button and letting it cycle closed. That is the final step if not done the setup will fail.
