    Thank you so much for putting this out there. I had been battling this for over a year. I reprogrammed our remotes and everything but nothing helped. I saw your video and thought to myself, I don't think I have an led bulb in our opener. So I looked and sure enough, it was an led bulb. I replaced it and have had no issues since. Thank you again.

    Great vid. Couldn't figure out why my keypad and remotes stopped working to close the door but worked fine to open. Realized the only difference was that I had JUST replaced my burned out bulbs with LEDs. Great info to know, as the problem is now fixed and the wife is happy again! Gotta love technology right.

    Hey Makuloco! I want to say THANK YOU for your video! I recently replaced the CFL bulb with LED and exactly like your video described... the remote will not open or close the garage once you step a few feet outside. At time it would work intermittently... I had a hunch that it’s caused by the RFI from the LED BULB and decided to TH-cam it. I came across your video and replaced the LED bulb with CFL and now my garage door is working perfectly. I went as far as cleaning out the sensor, took the damn motor out and cleaned it, none of it worked except the god damn LED bulb(I had two of them! ) once the LED bulbs are out, they work absolutely fine. Hilarious and thank you!

  • @rothnh

    I had the exact experience - really surprised me. I had put some LED's (mixed with older CFL) in and saw a degradation of remote control function; BUT once I moved to 100% LED's - huge issues with my Liftmaster Elite 3850. Remotes barely worked at all. I swapped out all LED's with, frustratingly, all 60W incandescents (regular old bulbs). By doing so, all remote problems were 100% resolved. I looked at some LED bulbs (Genie) with a different signals supposedly OK in garage door openers. I would need to buy six - just not worth it - $42+ ($6-9 each) and no assurance that electrical bill savings would ever justify the excessive cost per bulb.

    Q: When the door has remained closed for some time the light goes off, right? So when you come back the bulb is off (no power) why / how does a non energized circuit in the LED bulb cause interference with the signal? I understand that when the bulb is powered the inductor on the circuit board for the LED can produce interference. Not being a smart ass, just want to understand.

    The lights in our Chamberlain Whisper Drive HD900D opener refuse to turn off ... motion detector not turning the lights on or off ... there is a 'click' coming from the opener when I press the 'light' button on the remote by the house door, but the lights remain on. So ... per the TH-cam video, I replaced the LED bulbs with good old incandescent and ... yup, it works fine now. I see the video is 5 years old, but the advice works today too ! Thank you !

    Something must be different in the opener hardware/software, as per model type. I recently moved as well, the PO had similar Liftmaster branded openers from 2003 with LED bulbs. No problem with the signal from 3-400ft up the driveway. I replaced the openers with a Chamberlain brand and installed cheap LEDs. I can be 1/8 mile away with the opener in my pocket, working on something in the woods and accidentally open the doors.

    Great information, but, let me add even more. LED bulbs can be a problem when there is a garage light near the opener. In my case, I wanted more light, and changed out the bulb in the overhead to LED. This fixture is right next to the garage door opener. The opener would not always open or close the door, and, when it did, you had to be very close to the door. I tried extending the antenna for the opener, but, this really did nothing. I remembered that this problem started after I changed the bulbs in the overhead light to LED, so put the old CFL's back into the light. Now it works again. I still have LED's in the opener 2 bulbs, and have not had any more problems. However, just to make sure I do not, I will put 2 CFL's in the opener as well. Hope this help others looking to solve this strange issue. It makes sense to me, because the LED bulbs are on the same frequency as the opener, which can cause problems.

    I'm confused....in the video, you indicate a 100 watt CFL, yet the link is LED....which is it, the CFL or the LED in the link?

  • @claypf4795
    @claypf4795 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The rapid switching from the LED driver is likely causing the interference. Putting in two bulbs may double the frequency if they don't start up at the exact same time. This wouldn't be a problem on the older door openers where the radio receiver was a separate component mounted further away from the opener.

    Removing the LEDs didn't help. I connected small gauge solld wire to the stripped end of transmitter wire and strung across garage ceiling and outside corner od garage door, it now works great !!

      David no is not the problem with a circuit board why is not the problem with the circuit board is rfi radio frequency interference that mean is the led light bulb cause a problem with the motor unit which is called the garage door opener
      Genie light bulb is the good solution to prevent interference with the remote
      Or a bad circuit board cause the relay click two Tim learn button flashing led light five time circuit board is shorted that mean soldering it I will fix your problem with the garage door opener not operating

    HEY MAKULOCO, I WONDER IF YOU COULD HELP GET THE WORD OUT THERE...WE HAD THIS PROBLEM OF "WEAK SIGNAL" NOT OPENING THE DOOR. PUT (SPLICE) A LONG WIRE ONTO THE OPENER ANTENNA, I.E., EXTEND THE OPENER ANTENNA ALL THE WAY TO OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE. THAT FIXED OUR ISSUE!!!!
