- Diecast Restoration Dinky Toys Dust cart no/ 252. this week's Restoration is an old style Dust cart from the 1950s a bit tricky this one to get the sliding doors to operate correctly showing a bit of masking and a different colour.
my contact details are in the about section on my channel - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
I come home from work all stressed out. I love sitting in my easy chair and watching your videos. I find them calming. I did a tire replacement and headlight replacement on a blue Tonka pickup. Then I stripped a mini Tonka. Now I’m looking at a Dinky Diamler ambulance.
Thanks very much glad I could help in the de stressing process I know that feeling, sounds like your having fun with your castings that's what it's all about .
All the best Martin 👍
Quite a beautiful job Martin!!! Love the green with the black fenders and chassis and the grille came out great. Never see these here in the states so a definite treat to watch you breathe new life back into the old gal.
Thanks very much my friend iam glad you liked it and thanks for your support my friend
Cor blimey what a great resto. Nice masking tip. Good colours.
Cheers Andy 🍻 much appreciated my friend 👍
I really like this little model a lot, Martin! I especially enjoyed the engineering that went into the sliding door hatches in the back!
I like the new green color that you added. It gives the truck a little pizzazz I think! You always do such fantastic work restoring these old vehicles, and I always love the stuff from the '50s--trucks, dozers, construction stuff, etc--so this was another one that was right up my alley! Love it!
Thanks loston, yes a colour change definitely had to be done on this one the sliding doors simple but effective but not a lot of tolerance if it is bang on its not working.
All the best Martin.
Great work as always.
Full watch.
SOOO KOOOOOLLLLLL.
Rare truck . 😊
Rare in the states .
Mike
Cheers Mike thanks for taking the time to watch my friend 👍

Hi Martin,
I must say i enjoy your video's. I had a friend who was an expat who moved to NZ. We had a little business buying and selling model railways, to support our hobby. I hope you don't mind me saying that the similarities between yourself and my friend., in the way you speak, and your mannerism are closely aligned, one could say you were brothers. My friend came from London originally. Any way i thought i would share that with you. Keep the good work up.
Smashing restore Martin great looking colors you went with well done the bin men will make a good edition to the finished display 👍👍
Thanks seams it's really appreciated my friend 👍

I love the colour Martin ,so nice.wasn't easy to put together but that's not a problem for you. Excellent finish ,well done Martin
Cheers laz yes it had its moments that's for sure .
All the best Martin 👍
A bit more work to that model, than it looks. I am glad you did this video. I have one that is not in bad shape other than the tailgate is a reproduction that is not painted and loosely wired on. Now I can fix it up proper.
That's good glad it helps ,have fun my friend 😀
Another great restoration Martin, a bit fidelity at times but you came out on top with this one 👍. A nicely done two tone paint job & detailing was top notch, you take care my friend see you on your next one. 👋😎🚗🚙🚒
Thanks Jeff, yes it had its tricky moments that's for sure but that's part of the fun when you get a casting you haven't done before a lot of head scratching 😂.
All the best to you all
Awesome Martin 👍🤗
Thanks very much my friend its really appreciated
Very interesting model. Well done!
Thanks very much my friend
Great video ol buddy, good choice of colors.I've got one in the lineup It's missing the twisty piece. Flowers is out of it. Shouldn't be too hard to make one. Cheers Don✌️😎
Nice one Don the dinky Bedford tipper has the same mech .the twist peice is OK to make its the gear cogs that would cause the problem I did try using the flat cog out of an old tin opener but it was a bit big .
All the best Martin 👍
Fantastic job .
Thanks very much my friend
Martin that's a really cool truck and great restore brother ❤
Thanks Shawn appreciate it my friend 👍
I can just about remember these collecting mostly just ash and tins, now an HGV is required. Great work Martin as usual. Thanks for posting.
Cheers Stephen, yes a lot of coal Ash there wasn't as much packaging back then to get rid off ,how times have changed.
All the best Martin
Great video Martin. I like the choice of colour scheme.
It is a mystery about that washer.
Thanks very much it definitely needed a colour change ,yes the washer is definitely a strange one that's for shore.
All the best Martin 👍
I really like seeing how much trouble I have when I am working on a new thing: I never notice when I am having it!
Nice preparation and lovely finish, Martin, and just enough additional detail and tidiness to bring the model to life again - as it thoroughly deserves. A fingernail of Vaseline in the mechanism makes it a bit less sticky. I was holding my breath on that masking tape removal at 31 minutes, though!
Thanks Fraser, it's always tricky when you do a casting you haven't done before especially on camera as well there's a lot of umming and arghring working out how it all comes apart 😀.
Good tip with the vasolene.
Hello Martin one of those was my first Dinky still got it. I shall restore it when I have the time Hope it’s as good as yours. Hope you and your family are keeping well regards Glyn
Thanks Glyn I appreciate it my friend and yours when you do it will be great 👍
Nice colour, better than the original.again, well done
Thanks mick appreciate it brother 👍
Great colour combo on the rubbish truck Martin another fantastic resto ..... just a thought Martin for that long kog maybe you could get one from the Slot Car clubs or hobby shop... ok thanks for the video👍
Cheers Gregory now that's not a bad idea worth looking into thanks again 👍
HEY MOM IT'S THE DUSTMEN. Hi mate I love it really good job. Painting the mud guards black was a good idea and the colour choice is a good one looks time period. Great advice about un masking my brother told me that years ago when we used to paint full size cars. I remember the old tin bins and the blokes throwing them over there shoulders. I saw some clean second hand plastic bins with the flip lid on them on ebey so I bought one to put my bands PA leads in and because it has wheels on you just take it out of the trailer and drag it in to the venue. The only trouble is on the first night I used it at the end of the night when I went to put the leads back in it, it was full of rubbish. The kitchen staff thought it was a rubbish bin. I can't imagine how they came to that conclusion.😂🤣😆 So now I have a big sign on it saying for band cables only. Catch you on the next one mate.👍🏻🚛
Ha ha ,classic 😂, with the bin .
The masking I learnt the hard way it pretty much works all the time ,there wasn't so much stupid packaging back then for the bin men .not like now .
All the best Martin 👍
superb martin

Thanks Bob that's really appreciated and thanks for your long term support 👍
Lovely job pal it's a good job it's not a modern day truck with all the hydraulic pipes head scratching time mate
Cheers nigel yes that would be a bit of a problem 😀 all the best Martin
That was my favourite dinky toy as a kid, nice resto but shame you didn't keep the original colour
Thanks Robin no worries I have anther one as you saw so I will be doing that in the original colour.
All the best Martin 👍
Nice restore. I was thinking with that cogs which where's couldn't you nickel plated or zinc plated it and then file it back into shape, cheers Graham.
Hi Graham, that's certainly something to think about that's for sure ,thanks for the idea 💡
All the best Martin
Nice colour choice
Thanks Michael 😊

Hi Martin good resto on the dustcart ,the tipper gear was never very succesfull even on brand new ones i remember ,but a nice model ,all the best
Thanks very much it's really appreciated my friend
Yes it was always a bit rough and ready on this one and the tipper truck .
All the best Martin
I have just purchased one of these and made the mistake of not checking if the rear door was present. Where did you source your rear door Martin? Great restoration and some nice tips to take on board.
Cheers Kevin I got it from a seller on ebay I can't rember witch one of hand ,but it definitely wasn't model supplies.
Cheers 🍻

Nice job , I probably would have spoken to the project in a special way, more than once.how many times have you stabbed yourself with that screwdriver ? Or is just me that does that.haha
Cheers Michael ,a few choice words were quietly spoken that's for shore ,as for the screw driver in the finger or hand a few times ,you would have thought I would have learnt my lesson but No .
All the best Martin 👍
Thats brilliant! What a transformation.👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻
Fiddly blighter though.... In fact, I've got one thats not in bad nick that i was going to play with soon but i think ill put it away for a bit and study your movie a few more times.
Anyhoo, yours is a little gem now ✨
Cheers my friend, it always looks tricky on video especially when you haven't done one before because your mindfully of the time on camera.
The only tricky thing was the sliding doors there is very little tolerance, but the rest not to bad
All the best Martin
