    Interesting video and great find! Alfa Romeo’s 🐍 engineers need to slightly redesign that inner suspension component 🔩. That’s one reason I’ve never been keen on changing modern cars suspensions and alignments.
    Just like Ducati, had on their outer engine casing an oil sight-glass. It was directly where the right foot brake lever was. So if the motorcycle 🏍 ever fell over ⤵️ the right brake foot lever can and did punctured the sight-glass, leading to catastrophic engine failure. Recently Ducati engineers have moved the oil site-glass up ⬆️ a couple centimeters to avoid that potential problem from happening again so the rider is not left stranded on their expensive adventure motorcycle.

  • @bobbymorgret

    Maybe try putting some clay on the different spots then mount your winter wheels, run the car, and that should definitely tell you where its coming from?? It works for clearancing valves, maybe it will work here?? Just a thought. (Actually masking tape would probably work as good if not better??)

  • @SlumRacing

    Definitely not that any bolts on brake caliper as the wheel and caliper distance don't change under the load.
    It's the bolt you want to grind down. Lines up with scratch marks

  • @L3XURIOUS
    @L3XURIOUS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    very strange, i dont think that the suspension would flex so much especially on only 1 side of the car. personally i think something got into your wheel and scraped the paint off and fell out again. it would both be noticeable by feel and sound if something was seriously wrong to flex that much

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      this is definitely not from rocks or debris based on the visual of the scrapping it seems constant. with the winter tires since they are bigger based on their winter design on bad dips i do hear a chirp and noise on compression. Also the Kw shock bodies are thicker than the original rear shocks and i think that is where it rubs on the outer edge.

    Yeap lowered and alignment play havoc unfortunately. Same with anything wider than stock tire wise. I've decided to switch everything back to stock width and a minimal aggressive alignment just to avoid these annoying issues

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      and whats crazy it only does this on the 5 hole wheels for winter, the winter tires are OEM size but physically a but taller and wider than the Pirelli Corsa tires and the Micheline 4S i have now. this is really a mystery because I can not find out exactly how this is happening on that one rear wheel.

    I am wondering if it could be buildup from Ice and dirt during the winter months causing this issue. Does it do it on the summer tires ????

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  ปีที่แล้ว

      never did this with the summer tires it was my rear negative camber and as the car leans since i drove it so hard it would rub the inside of these wheels, very crazy but these cars have so little tolerance under the wheel well areas.

  • @shepherd3085
    @shepherd3085 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the car have an IRS? If so it could be that the IRS is off from the factory. I know for the mustang, Steeda makes an alignment kit with bushing to align the car properly.

  • @gtbeast8897
    @gtbeast8897 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Biggest difference you noted was winter vs summer. It could be accumulation of snow when driving that hardens to ice and over time acts like sand paper on your inner wheels paint. Just like the fender well accumulates snow when driving behind the wheel. If it was the bolt you would have gouging marks into your wheel, it’s too smooth of a wear to be metal on metal grinding. Plus if it was the bolt the lines would be wavy with the suspension flexing.
    Calipers bolts won’t have any part in that as the wheel is mounted to the assembly that does not tweak, if that’s happening your studs you be stretching causing the wheel to misalign with the hub.

    @AutoFanatic My my ‘18 QV I’m running KW DDC coilovers and ideal racing rear control arms, with OEM 5-hole with winter in stock sizes and OEM forged wheels with 255/295 cup 2’s. My Front alignment is 6.5/7.1 deg caster, -1.1 deg camber, -1/32 toe, Rear is -1.7, toe -1/16. NO rubbing in either of the rear wheels. How does your compare?

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have more front and rear camber than yours and my toe is a little different but its crazy has even someone just reported their 17 is bone stock and theirs rubs just like mine. I wonder if this is model year dependent on these cars and the earlier cars are more prone. I hope someone with a 19-22 model can report back

  • @mrbryanmarshall
    @mrbryanmarshall 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lower arm bushes? Check those, will cause extra movement. Mine went at 55,000KM. You have to replace the whole lower arms as they have integrated bushes. -2 is not excessive camber. I’m running -2.5 on rear, Technicolor wheels. Never seen a scratch like this.

      crazy observation of owning my Alfa QV all these years, the 5 hole wheels have a much flatter face profile and for some reason they do not get peppered with rocks like the Technico wheels that have the curved concave spokes. the gravel in NY destroys everything and the barrels of the rims take a huge toll and it drives me insane

Car looks awesome with these, no problem with geting michelin 4s' + theyre bigger so probably no rub on the inside the wheel and also the et is little diferent theyre perfect flush without spacers so there wont be any rub on the inner side of the rim either.

    • @autofanaticcars
