    Wanting a more practical tire and with the desire to use the Pilot Sport 4S on my car this clearly will not work. Still shopping for a more viable option right now. I do not like the bulged look or the poke out of these tires as shown in the video. Stick to OEM sizes guys.

    Glad to help out with the wheel loaner. Much better to try and see you hate the fitment than to have wondered if you made the wrong choice not going bigger. Seeing them in person is even more shocking how one 295 tire isn’t even close to another 295 tire. At least you didn’t have to unmount four tires and remount another four to find out you hated it!

    Crazy to see that the PS4S still now aren’t available in the OE size (285/30 19’’). But if you wanna go OEM plus you can purchase the Stelvio 20’’ rims and mount 285/25 20’’ PS4S which gives just an amazing stance while keeping the overall wheel size the same (-0.4% difference actually which is perfectly acceptable safety wise and won’t mess up which the speed calculation of the ECU and TCU).

    Guys. Check out Goodyear. Their new tyre should be widely available in Europe at least in June in the correct sizes. It the F1 Super sport tyre, one of their new design tyres which doesn't have as soft a construction as before. A few UK owners have ordered them from abroad and are happy so far with them. Below is their review
    Can confirm so far the F1 supersports on the QF handle the weight very well indeed, similar stiffness to the Corsas infact. Steering feel so far feels on par with Corsas too (phew). 300 miles on the tires, but the amount of confidence they've inspired is remarkable. Now they're bedded in I'll give them a proper hoon and report back. Been caught out with bedding in tires in the past so didn't want to push hard or report too much till that had happened.

    I hadn't watched your video to the end before but now that I did, at the very end you actually confirm that I should asked the tire store to order the larger PS4S for me, after today talked me into the OEM size Pilot Super Sport which came in last week. I think I can deal with a little bit of bulging sidewalls, because I have a 2019 unmodified QV, and you were saying that the Super Sports look a little stretched and thinner, which would make the already larger gap on the 2018-2019 models look even bigger (it already looks a little bigger in the rear than the front), and from other accounts there should be plenty of room in my unmodified model year. Plus, living in South Florida, the PS4S compared to the Super Sport have a much better wet grip, and are a good deal more comfortable and quieter, and according to your statement, last a lot longer.

    Thank you this was very helpful because I was about to order 255/30 and 295/35 MPS4S's for my Quad! I ended up going with my backup plan, Super Sports in OEM sizing as you suggested as well. Not ideal, but I've never had an experience with any other brand that has come close to Michelin's performance---their design and QC is just unmatched. I can't believe Michelin STILL hasn't added this relatively common rear size to the PS4S line! Oh well...

      no comparison for steering and feel from any Conti compared to a Pilot Sport or 4s or Cup 2 and I have tried them all on high performance cars I just never liked them. It depends how you drive and what you like so this is subjective of course.

    I don’t understand this at all! Oversize tires are fine!!
    My car is even lowered and I fit these NO PROBLEM
    Only issue is not all tire shops are good enough to put the 305’s on the rims it’s hard because it’s short sidewall. I do have to pay a little extra for those mounts but that’s it! Also my tire sticks out a little more than the rim so I have protection from curbs!

    Hey Phil!
    Man, SO ecstatic you made this video. So helpful. My 2017 QV has a major problem with rubbing and clunkiness on full-lock (u-turns). Do you know if the S-04 tires rub much on full-lock? My QV is tuned @ ~600hp, but most of my driving is street-based. Love driving more aggressively when I can, but little to no track time. My heart had been set on the PS4 as a replacement tire even though it’s a wider tire at 295/30/19. But this video has me thinking Bridgestone S-04 now. I would imagine you’d recommend the S-04 tires in the OEM size? My apologies if I missed this. Thanks for what you do!

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if your car it not lowered you might be able to get away with these P4s but be forewarned if they stick out or hit on full compression of the suspension. the S04 is an excellent tire and for the money if you bought them from Tire Rack and hated them you have 30 days to do an exchange for something else. The Corsa hooks up well when warm but give some wheel hop effect that i do not like due to the softer compound and softer sidewall flexing at full launch.

    I personally hated the corsa's, they were only any good in warm dry weather, really bad stone collectors and steering skipping on full lock. So I switched to MPS4S. I went 295 / 255 just so the bulging matches. I know it's not ideal but the trade off for wear, wet handling and not having the tyres skipping when cold on full lock compared to the corsa's was a no brainer for me. The wear is amazing and the wet handling is flipping fantastic. And unless you've got full PPF those corsa's are going to continue to eat at your rear lower bumper, just have a feel around there. Mine were peppered from the corsa's after 10k miles. I've not suffered any rubbing but I caveat exactly what you say there is really no space inside the wheel well.

      @@robertharriman What year is your QV? I have a 2019, which I haven't modified, which has a bit more wheel gap than the 2017, and also more gap than the 2020 I hear. I got a screw in my right rear Corsa, and since I'm about two thirds through their life anyway I ordered four new tires. I asked the tire store about the MPS4S 255/295, and they said it wasn't the right size and talked me into ordering the Pilot Super Sport OEM sizes, which came in less than two days later, and now I have to decide whether I want them to order oversized MPS4S I initially wanted or not.

    I initially changed to Pilot Sport 4S all round, oversize on the rear. No issues with rubbing but agree the extension outside the arch was a concern especially averaging 15000 miles pa. When it came to change them (14000 miles out of the rears and 18000 out of the front I tried Brigestones , not good. Next up Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 3 , very good on the rear (have stuck with PS4S on the front by far the best for all round handling and longevity). Now on the asymmetric 5's on the rear and 54000 miles.

    Crazy i went with the recommended size 4s from Sig Wheel for my S5. Confirmed on Audizine. The 275’s i bought was .5 or so larger then the stock 255 on a 10.5 wheel. The fronts poke maybe 1/8 but the 4s has that lip protection/bulge that pokes out a bit. It rubbed the crap out of my front fenders. We eventually raised the front but next season im going with the 265’s which are closer to OEM in size.
    Also i did the same in the front, went from -3.0° camber to -1.0° eventually -1.5°. That did not help my situation either. Essentially a $600 mistake. Spc arms with the larger body hit the lip of the engine bay access area. Freakin disaster ... i was pissed.

      yeah tires are sized not always equal and you are a victim of taking the chance trying the larger size and it caused damage. this is what worried me because at full compression and with my camber out back these 295 would easily hit my fender at full compression on a bad road in NYC. Just want not worth the risk plus i do not think it looked right on my car either. Hope you get your S5 figured out soon.

      @@autofanaticcars I see what you mean; rubbing not from turning, but from hitting the well when the springs are compressed. Guess I'm trouble then because I just had my QV lowered on '17 springs

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      17 springs are not that low you should not have an issue, many complained about the rear rubbing and smacking the carbon splitter up front which is why they jacked the height up. I only drive 99% of the time in race mode anyway i feel the shock valving in other modes is just too soft for my tastes.

      Shelby has way more grip and confidence the Alfa is so light and fast it snaps loose very easily and can be a handful. Must drive with caution hard on the street. I kinda like that scary factor it adds to the drama giving it more character than all other cars in this category.
