My favorite knitting podcast! Love your banter and lighthearted convos, and of course your excitement over yarn 😂. Makes me wish I had a close friend who knits!
Sarah's face when Paige is doing the sneaky film is GOLD, I'm totally like that whenever I purchase yarn 😂 really enjoyed your haul, felt very intentional. It's so crazy, now that I'm overseas I'm like oooh Aussie wool, whereas when I was home I was like ooh foreign wool. Need to recalibrate!
Hello, I just came across your channel a couple days ago and binge watched all episodes. Your dynamic together is wonderful and a lot of fun to watch. I am looking forward to future podcasts episodes however you will get them up. Until then save and wonderful travels for Paige and Happy Knitting to everybody. Greetings from Germany 😊
My favorite yarn was the pink skein Paige picked up with the burgundy mini and that wonderful green that Sarah got 600 yards. Just beautiful ladies! I'm so glad we got to see you both again before Paige's trip. Your excitement is contagious! ❤🧶
All the yarn is SO gorgeous!!! Thanks for letting me drool haha! For Sarah’s Gentlemen’s Moss yarn, a cowl could be fun. The first one that came to mind is the Jessica Jones Cowl by Handmade by Sminé. It’s a simple linen stitch so the color and sheen would be so lovely! And let’s be honest, it would match everything in her closet 😂
Sarah, first, I absolutely adore your taste in greens lol, the gentlemen's moss skein is stunning! Ideas that popped up for me for a single skein were: cabled fingerless mitts (yucca has one that's beautiful), lace cowl (like the Good luck cowl by Christianne Gerstner), colourwork cowl (like the selbu cowl by skeindeer knits, colourwork sweater (like the vargo pullover by sari nordlund). Whatever you decide, it will look amazing!
Ough these are such good suggestions I feel like it will look amazing in a colourwork cowl/scarf and using it with plied yarn for the colourwork could give it some more stability
I loved this video so much, this was my first year attending and you brought back all the amazing memories of this fantastic experience! I did see you both briefly but by the time I was done squishing yarn at GOR you were gone. Will be sure to say hello next year! Loved your hauls too, I got the salt and pepper from GOR which I love and am planning to make a weekender with. I totally regret not getting the warm toned one you purchased as well, its so beautiful! Fingers crossed they have something similar next year! 🤞
Lovely ep! My sister and I saw Sarah from a distance on the Saturday but didn't get a chance to say hi, so I'll say hi now! For your single skein, I made an Outline Tee by Jessie Maed with a single-ply SWmerino-silk-yak yarn that I bought from Oyster Yarns at the She's Crafty market last year. It's felted a little bit but I loveeeee it as a summer top!
Love that green in particular, it made my heart sing and my tummy roll😂 and the colour on the sock yarn is lush. My hubby has started to sit and watch with me after first giggling; now he is hooked 😂
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous purchases. The greens were beautiful and so you Sarah. The Gentleman’s moss would make a lovely Maurice cowl, by twinset and purl, I’m making one in the same colour and it’s turning out great and I’m enjoying the pattern ❤🧶x
Love everything about this video. Thanks for sharing your experiences - and thanks for enabling me with the La Bella yarn. Just made a little online purchase .... I went to the Bendi show for the first time last year and had such a great experience. I'll definitely be going next year and hope to meet you girls there. :)
That green single skein with yak is so lovely for you Sarah. I was recently thinking about knitting a two-color shawl, the Pure Joy by Joji Locatelli. So that's where my mind went when I saw this skein. If you had another skein in a neutral to go with it.
the owl of athena sock base is a high-twist sock yarn - it's a 2 ply fingering, so it's very plump and has a bit more stitch definition than a standard sock yarn. quite a few other dyers have similar bases, often called twist sock or high twist sock or similar.
Love all your podcast!❤ Sounds like you guys had a blast ! I’m also an enabler love your purchases. Sarah how is your book club cardigan going? The yarn is gorgeous. It’s my favourite book club cardigan on ravelry! Can’t get it in Canada🙁
As always, highly enjoyable and entertaining! It's fascinating to discover all these yarns and brands that are completely new to me. I might just have to place a yarn order from Australia one of these days 😅
I have an 8 ply ball of that exact Odd One Out from Bellevue Park! Exactly same colour. 😁 Omg, I want to meet those sheep now. 🥰 Rockleigh is not far from my town... 🤔
The Aveley Finn (I noticed their IG is a bit more active now) is gorgeous, was great to meet you Sarah on the Saturday- I think Paige was buried in Little Woollie at the time. Love the Red Marble - I didn’t buy much because of the size of the stash but I really enjoyed seeing what was available locally. Mind you I’m spoiled as Little Woollie is my local in Australia
Paige’s second random GORW purchase looks very similar to their Honeycomb colourway which they usually have in stock, in case anyone has fallen for it. They have moved from the Great Ocean Road inland I think to an off grid homestead, recently rebranded slightly but have kept the name which is a good move imho. I love their yarn and their ethos
Sarah’s single green skein, beautiful. How about a musselburgh hat or something similar. It’s such a beautiful yarn and the colour is absolutely yours so against your face would be spot on. Also the yarn would shine in a simple stitch pattern. New to your podcast and absolutely love it. Yay for knitting and knitting besties.
I was knitting with the Finn sheep 8 ply wool in a blue colour whilst watching Sarah talk about her Finn sheep yarn purchase 😊 It is knitting up with a bit of a scratchy feel to the fabric, so I'm hoping it softens with soaking.
For the green yarn, maybe you could make a sleeveless and slightly cropped Ranunculus top? I know you can get away with using very little yarn to get a garment for certain versions, and seems like the silk would give it a nice drape. :)
Hi Sarah, I’m currently knitting a Sari Nordlund Aurelia jumper with the Aveley FinnSheep 8ply in Weld & Indigo No.5. Is that the same colour as yours? The yarn is very smooth and soft but shows off cables and textures extremely well like a woolly worsted spun yarn. It shouldn’t pill much as it has a long staple length. Be aware the indigo dye may leach on your hands while knitting but it doesn’t change the colour of the yarn.
Ok that’s it! After years of ignoring the Aussie wool event of the year because I have no will power when it comes to yarn…. 🙄 It would be wrong of me not to make the effort next year! Thanks for sharing the joy!😘
Thank you so much for sharing your festival (and acquisitions) with usSarah, suggestions for your lovely silky green yarn: "Celtic Roots Headband" by Melissa Burke it would look so good on your hair or "Frida" by Emilie Luis or " Westboro Hat" by Selma Incesulu or a "Hatdana" by Denise Bayron or a "Droplet Capelet" by Denise Bayron
For Sarah’s single skein I would suggest a bandana style cowl with a triangle. Or The Fraxinus cowl- I have knit that in a yarn with a lot of silk and the drape is lovely.
For your Gentleman's moss - have you thought about a tombo tee by florence miller? I bought 1 special skein at the show in a merino/silk blend and managed to get the main colour in the tee out of it (in an B). Could also use it as the contrast if you make a bigger size/lengthen it. Was able to use up the whole skein in the project - very satisfying!
Have you ever knit with wool from the Doulton Flock? All their sheep are allowed to live to the end of their natural lives. I’m planning to make a huge purchase because of that and would love to know about the yarn from your perspective.
Haha I'm so glad you get to enjoy this ❤ Shame about the reddy -brown but I think it's been so popular that they might run it again next year, fingers crossed for you
I am new to the game and have a question , let’s say a pattern requires 6 balls of merino . But I want to combine it with mohair . So do I reduce the number of merino ?
I think something about the silk or the mohair traps the wool fibres in such a way that it makes the wool less likely to pill. But not sure of the exact science behind it 🤷♀️
It was nice seeing how she sheared the sheep. I’m a plant based eater so I’m against animal cruelty and that seemed pretty ethical. I have seen some horrific shearing.
"OOAK" is how hand dyers label their "One Of A Kind" skeins. It's shorthand for a one-off colorway that cannot or will not be replicated. 🙂
Ooooh right, thanks! 🥰
My favorite knitting podcast! Love your banter and lighthearted convos, and of course your excitement over yarn 😂. Makes me wish I had a close friend who knits!

Your enthusiasm for yarn is always so sweet and genuine :3

Makes me want to time my next visit home to Australia with this show 😅
Yessss, come home.... 😛
wow I am jealous while sweating in the northern hemisphere! So many beautiful yarns. Can't wait for winter to come.
Haha you’ll be all cosy soon enough and I’ll be jealously trying to knit through the summer heat here…

Thank you!!! 🥰
omg i saw the notification on my phone for this and stopped watching what i had on my computer and came to watch this instead lmao
Haha I love this. There are some podcasts where I'm like it's late and I was gonna go to bed but I guess now it'll be an even later night...
I recently made "May I borrow this please" shawl with a single skein, and it is lovely! It's a great project for one pretty skein.
Oooo it's lovely! thanks for the tip ❤
Life IS short!! Your mom is the best! 😂
Hahah love this attitude ❤❤❤

Love the opening video shots from the Wool show. X
Thanks ☺️

Hi great to see you too again, OOAK is an acronym for one of a kind.
Oooooh thanks 🤦♀️
The shared joy over yarn and projects makes me wish I had knitter friends
I need to convince a friend to pick up the hobby 😅
Haha yep we're pretty lucky ❤

Yeh some of the speed shearing that occurs is pretty brutal but the blade shearing much more humane.
