Thank you for speaking about possum fibre! In New Zealand they are a danger to our native kiwi and other native birds too 😭 I love how excited you both get for each other’s projects ❤️

My favorite yarn to date that I’ve used is KnitPicks Palette, which is 100% Peruvian Highland wool. It’s so surprisingly soft to the touch, and softer than other PHW yarns I’ve used. It does pill, but not as bad as other yarns and it feels nice to wear so I don’t care too much! Basic but beautiful!

I am a relatively new knitter so every (natural) yarn is such an exciting discovery! I'm particularly obsessed with mohair these days, holding yarn together feels so much like watercolouring. I have just the assortment of brownish mohairs to pair with this possum base!

Paige - that bow vest is **chef's kiss** and love that green border/general colour choices. So for context, I'm originally from Perth, lived in Melbourne briefly too...BUT now briefly in thr States: Thought of you girls today, went to my new "local" yarn store (lol took an uber for 30mins), and thought I'd died and gone to yarn heaven. They had hand dyes from local makers, knitting for olive, sandnes garne (they had POPPY in autumn in stock??!!), Jamieson's, Biches et Bouches, Noro (so many lines!!), i bought Sarah's Mykt Til Dame book (sorry, not sorry, so influenced), plutolopi and all these wheels of unspun yarn, aahhh and so many more. I was totally unprepared because their insta and website are still a work in progress. Have to go back with a game plan. Still have flutters thinking about it 😍

I’ve only recently gotten back into knitting again after 10+ years, and it has just been TAKING ME OVER 🥲 I’ve even been dreaming about it… regularly!!
My absolute favourite yarn right now is the Dory Sock yarn by Green Gable Alpacas farm - it’s “70% Extra Fine Merino, 20% Royal Alpaca and 10% Mulberry Silk” - it’s unbelievably soft and the most luxurious yarn I’ve worked with for sure.
The supplier is a quaint little alpaca farm on Prince Edward Island in Canada, and they hold hand-dyeing workshops with their yarn, so I actually hand-painted this skein myself!
It holds such a beautiful memory because I attended the workshop with my friend when we travelled there together, so it’s extra meaningful to knit with. It was so cool to meet the owner (who taught the workshop), as well as tour her farm and meet the alpacas themselves 😊

I so enjoy seeing your WIPs, and how you each have such different styles or approaches to your knitting projects. So excited for the KAL! I'm still learning about knitting fibres, but so far, I prefer a more rustic yarn that gets loftier after blocking. Some Briggs & Little Regal (Canada) is a go-to for outerwear cardis for me.

My favorite yarn I’ve used is a combo - Holst Garn Supersoft + Titicaca. Supersoft is a great workhorse yarn and Titicaca is a lace weight alpaca just like the ones you talked about this episode. Really soft and fluffy but not too much.

I love this podcast. It feels to me like listening to my friends who are as excited about yarn and knitting as I am. Your sweater in the Sandnes garn Poppy yarn is amazing. I was really excited for the book club cardigan pattern to come out too. I was swatching for it before it's released using some yarn I got in the Catskills region of New York. I'm in love with this yarn. It is called American Ewe worsted tweed. I bought it in the color way called earth tones. It's so soft and beautiful and lovely to knit with.

Loved this video! I’ve been knitting for 8 months now so still very new to trying different yarns. Most recently I knitted with a single ply chunky wool/acrylic blend yarn and I loved how fluffy and soft it is so makes knitting very fun. But I’m also using a sock yarn held double for a ranunculus and working with merino wool is very lush.

Thank you so much for the possum information/education. I had wondered about the ethical side of things. I also didn’t realize it was different from the opossum here in the US. Paige, I am so so happy for you! I know how big of a deal this is. Enjoy your freedom! My favorite yarn combo is merino and alpaca, but right now I’m knitting with kelbourne woolens scout and am really loving it. I want to try a yak blend soon (and now possum).

I loved your explanation on the possum story. I haven't knitted with possum, but have had a plan to knit a cardigan/jacket with it this winter. I live in N.Z. and yes possums are a big problem, eating all the fruit off my trees! I have alpacas and love to blend their fibre with silk and spin that for knitting accessories and garments. I love your podcast and your enthusiasm for knitting all the things!

I get so excited every time I see that you have posted a video!
I am still new to knitting so I haven't gotten to try too many yarns yet, but I do know that fiber-wise I prefer wool fibers to cotton-- I love the way wool changes when you block it, and how it feels afterwards. I also have a new obsession with variegated and speckled, hand-dyed yarns but haven't narrowed down my wish-list to which one I will try first. Really curious about Hedgehog Fibers colors, they are so beautiful!

Nice episode as always! I love to knit with cozy wool like Isager Soft but unfortunately the weather here in Florida does not give me too many opportunities to wear it. Sometimes turning the A/C really cold makes it fun to wear my warmer sweaters inside though! But the yarn that I use the most is Sandnes Line. Weather appropriate all year round in Florida and nice to knit with!

Love the podcast as always. Love reading the comments too and seeing what yarns people favour. I like non superwash wooly yarns for jumpers etc that wear well and don’t pill. I generally use the merino or other soft fibres for shawls and hats. My workhorse go tos are KnitPicks Palette (especially for colourwork) and Holst Supersoft. Also love Rowan Felted Tweed just for the gorgeous flecks colours and it’s soft but wears well imo. Also partial to all yarns Isager cos of the way they combine.
And Sarah, my row gauge is always off!, usually I get less rows than stipulated! 😟
As you say, it often doesn’t matter but I do get a bit sick of adjusting for it. It’s a total mystery to me.

What a great KAL prize! My favourite yarn to knit with is Icelandic yarn like Lettlopi or Alafosslopi. People find it too rustic and itchy because of the long fibre length and coarseness but I love it! The way it looks with it's hairy halo and the way it feels - I do get a poke and jab every now and then which I just take as my sweater reminding me of its existence and what an amazing job it's doing at keeping me warm. 😍

    Thanks for a lovely podcast!
My favorite yarn to knit with (at the moment) is knitting for olive heavy merino. I love the how sturdy it feels while still being soft enough to wear next to skin. Also discovered suri alpaca recently which has been horrible for the bank account but delightful to knit with!

So interesting to hear about possum yarn - I’ve never heard of it before. My favourite yarn to knit with at the moment is my own hand-spun merino yarn.

Wonderful podcast Sarah and Paige! Love your new haircut Paige, it looks fabulous on you. Two fibres I haven’t tried yet are Possum and Yak and would LOVE to 😊 I did just purchase and swatched yarn from Sonder Yarn Co., it is a gorgeous and soft blend of 65% BFL, 25% Masham, and 10% Cashmere. Using the Masham and Cashmere will be knew to me. I can’t wait to see your Book Club Cardigan Sarah, it’s in my queue along with almost everything Sari designs lol. Have a great day and thanks for a chance 💓

I have used and enjoyed possum yarn before, but not Zealana Kauri. I appreciate what you said about getting a double benefit of using a beautiful fibre and also helping the Aotearoa ecosystem.

My favourite yarn would be from the Wensleydale long wool sheep breed here in Yorkshire England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. They are the cutest sheep with really long beautiful curls. Their yarn is like knitting with silk it has the most glorious sheen to it. Keep up the podcast girls you two are so so watchable. Also I think I am very tempted to make my first cabled cardigan. ❤

Great podcast as always. I really love knitting with natural fibres in combination such as wool alpaca maybe with a touch of silk. A slightly heathered yarn in neutral colours is my favourite. I would love to knit up something with a bit of yak or possum.

Thank you for including the information about the possum fibre, as an Australian I was curious about the ethics of this so really appreciate the research & explanation! At the moment my favourite yarn to knit with is a beautiful alpaca/polwarth undyed blend from Adiago mills.

Loved this episode - great on the clarity re: possum fibre. I just started knitting the book club cardigan! I am using the new isager ecosoft fine fibre with FibreNaturally's alpaca 4ply and love both! Fibre naturally woollen mill are based in VIC and they are run by a lovely couple that raise their own alpacas and llamas!

I am just getting into knitting garments so I haven't experimented much with different types of yarn! My go-to yarn type right now is a 100% superwash wool! I am also a beginner spinner and my favorite fiber for spinning is BFL wool.

Right now I feel like one of my favorite fibers to work with is alpaca silk blends. I have a fabulous yarn from a local farm that I have yet to make anything with because I can't find the perfect pattern for it! It's just so soft and squishy!

So fun on the Kal…. I always love trying yarns…. Recently I have really liked cotton wool blends ( happy place) and I also was able to finally try knitting for olive silk and am loving that… I have a local thrift shop that I love when I find yarns from all over… a recent fun find was Rauma- from Norway .. so I got it to try… oh and I got some ochre from Australia this year too… in the lilac as it’s a favorite color of mine… thanks Paige!

Love your videos! I was really interested to hear more about possum fibre as I'd never heard of this before I started watching your channel. I don't have a favorite yarn really as I'm just getting back into knitting after a very long break (I learned to knit as a child and just used whatever I could get at the local stores, so nothing very fancy). I tend to gravitate towards really soft, fuzzy yarns, so like most anything that is marketed for baby blankets and clothing. I'm excited to branch out of my comfort zone though and try all the different options. I've been looking at Alpaca yarns lately and trying to figure out some choices for some projects I'm looking at. I'll have to give the cardigan KAL a go! Wishing you both a lovely day!

I recently took a trip to New Zealand and I loooove the yarn I got there - including the possum ones! It's among my favorite yarn I ever bought. I will say though, that I was lucky enough to take a trip to Norway the previous summer, and it is like the battle of the yarn vacations - Norwegian wool is also just so freaking amazing

I just ordered yarn for the bookclub cardigan yesterday, it's been on my mind since the first pictures as well. As for favorite fiber, cashmere comes to mind, it's so soft and light, each stitch becomes a little treat. I'd be really curious to try opossum, it sounds quite exotic from France!

It was so interesting to hear about the possum fibre! I didnt even knew the yarn existed beforehand and this is such an interesting perspective and thing to know!
I love working with rustic wool and alpaca blends the most actually, natural fibres have grown sm on me since i started knitting! These create the fabric i love the most! Currently i am working with a blown yarn as well which has super pretty speckles and flecks of color, so this is starting to get close to being one of my favorites, i am really eager to try sandnes garns poppy some time too!

I'm really new at knitting so I don't have too much experience using different yarn, but I really liked The fiber Co. Acadia yarn which I used pretty recently. I used it in a colorwork beanie and it was really fun to see work up since it has a bit of a tweed texture. It also made a really soft, comfortable fabric being a mix of merino wool, baby alpaca, and silk noil. I am sensitive to itch and this one isn't itchy at all. I will really likely be buying more of it to make into other garments because I liked it so much.

i appreciate the info about possum fiber! i think it's important for knitters to think about where their fibers are coming from (if they have the ability/means to do so of course). i'm unfortunately pretty sensitive to rustic wools, so i'm mostly a merino girl, but i'm always on the lookout for wools that my skin can handle and prefer hardier merino yarns. i think my favorite yarn to knit with has been knitting for olive (both regular and heavy merino), but there's still a ton of yarns that i'd like to try knitting with! i also like brooklyn tweed arbor as a non-merino alternative that doesn't bother my skin!
