Absolutely amazing!! You are the man! I’ve been playing around with guitars for the better part of 35 years. I bought my daughter a Kala concert for Christmas and have been watching as many of your videos as I can find. I’m purchasing a Pono tenor very soon and for the 1st time in years, I’m totally excited to learn a new instrument and to bond with my daughter. Keep the videos coming and thank you for your knowledge!!

I heard hawaiian music and wondered what made it distinct. Then i heard things that sounded hawaiin but weren’t actually made by a hawaiian person, which caught my attention. I wondered what made it tropical/hawaiian. I play piano so this will certainly be interesting considering i dont have strings (technically i do but,). Hawaiian music sounds great to me but i was so confused as to what “made it”. This video helped actually and the ukulele playing was amazing.

You are amazing, I have been playing professionally (many instruments) for years and I’ve been looking at this video for about a year and it still is rough as a cob trying to do this (not so) simple lick. Thank you for demonstrating this to us mortals. It is a joy to listen to at least. Maybe slow it down even more???🤔😊😋 Thank you for all you do. I follow you to at least hear good music and what the ukulele should sound like. Your a blessing!

Hi Aaron 😊 I picked up the ukulele 5-6 years ago and taught myself off you-tube. And I came across your you-tube lessons and I bought your CD "my Uke 101". That really helped me with my rhythmic stuff and the ukulele and to really love and appreciate that Hawaiian style of playing. I'm from New Zealand and now in a cool little group. I'm back into learning mode lately and came across your new school on you-tube. Have listened to your 7 vlogs. Loving it!!!!!! Lots of good information - but especially loved vlog #7 on making it Hawaiian ❤️❤️❤️ Love that turnaround so much and am playing it heaps and working on it. Thank you so much for your work and passion for the ukulele - I am inspired all over again.

I find in Roy Sakuma's chord book the 1st position for G9 is 2212 and C13 as 3455, you show something different, can you please number your fingerings for your vamp... G9, C13, F.

I figured it out. His pinky is actually there to silence the strings.
1st chord (from top to bottom): top silencing the top string, 2nd string 2nd fret, 3rd string 1st fret, bottom open.
2nd chord: top string use finger to silence the string, all else open.
3rd chord: standard F-chord: top string 2nd fret, 2nd string open, 3rd string 1st fret, bottom string open.
Alternate fingering: the first chord is to use your middle finger to press the top 2 strings on the 2nd fret, with your pointer finger on the 3rd string 1st fret, bottom open. You can then, on the 2nd chord, keep the middle figure lightly on the top stringcto silence it while playing all other strings open, then keep the 3rd chord the same standard F.
What makes this sound cool is the suspension of the top note (A), while the other notes walk down from chord 1 to chord 2 (notes D to C on the 2nd string, and F to E on the 3rd string).

@@livejoyfully6426 Thanks for this long explanation. Try G9 as 4210 and C13 as 3000. That's what Aaron is playing. Remember that it will only sound slack key guitarish if you use a low G.
