Glenn Robinson was one of my favorite players ever as he seemed to have been overshadowed by Grant Hill when I was watching the Big Dog as a kid in the NBA. What are your thought about #13?
He was a good player. I think he wasn't mentioned in the same breath as Jason Kidd and Grant Hill. He was a 2 time all star and instrumental of the Bucks 2001 Eastern Conference run.
Hey Emmanuel, I hope all is well. I just want to message you that I haven't forgotten your request about the Mavs in the 2000s. Just to let you know, I hope to publish that video on May 31. Enjoy the NBA Playoffs.
He was a legend in college. I was a kid his final year at Purdue. I remember following his season by catching his games and highlights on ESPN and checking the box scores in the local newspaper. My how times and technology has changed
Thanks for the comment and thanks for being a subscriber. I agree with you, Glenn was a legend in college. You mentioned box scores, I got a good laugh because I recently heard an older interview with George Brett, and he was talking about how he opened his newspaper and they no longer have box scores. I got a laugh out of that and to quote you - "My how times and technology has changed". Thanks again. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Even though Glenn Robinson was one of the best players throughout his entire career both in College and in the NBA, i don't think he should not be considered a bust nor by being overlooked nor underrated at all. He should not be forgotten either. Glenn Robinson had a very good shooting range jumper along with his teammates, Ray Allen, and Sam Cassell. Yes Robinson, Allen, and Cassell the Big Three helped lead the Milwaukee Bucks to the playoffs in 2000-2001 year when his team competed in the Eastern Conference Finals against Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite the fact that Glenn Robinson and the Milwaukee Bucks came very close to winning the Eastern Conference Championship Finals, Why was this series being rigged? Why was the NBA not allowing the Milwaukee Bucks to be considered as contenders to compete in the NBA Finals regardless if the city of Milwaukee was a small town or a small market? To me personally, the Bucks should've been the favorites to go to the Finals verses the Los Angeles Lakers. This would've been a very good opportunity for Glenn Robinson The Big Dog. That would've been a great matchup of the Big Three in Glenn Robinson, Ray Allen, and Sam Cassell vs Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant if only that would've happened years ago.
Hello again. Thanks for mentioning that. I do like the Bucks a little, and yeah, it was a rough stretch from the period you mentioned. The Bucks in the '80s are often forgotten. An underrated history of an NBA franchise.
I was just about to say he had a bad back in the game against DUKE. Hill could not stop him healthy. Robinson was playing 1v5 back then. He got jerked for rookie of the year because of the contract. Robinson was a monster. Imagine if he played today
Thanks for the comment. I wish I could have seen that matchup with Glenn vs. Grant with the Big Dog being healthy. Thanks again, enjoy the NBA Playoffs.

Born & raised in Milwaukee. My favorite player. I’m 40 & still wear long 🧦 like the Dog. I got chosen to go to his camp in Gary for free & got an autographed Tee.
Thank you! I stand corrected!!!! I always looked at him as being a bust because I felt that he didn’t measure up to the superstar he was in in college. But when I look at his career NBA numbers there’s no way he is a bust!
Glenn Robinson’s rookie season in Milwaukee 21 points per game on 42% from the field Grant Hill’s rookie season in Detroit 20 points per game on 48% from the field Jason Kidd’s rookie season in Dallas 12 points & 7 assists per game 4:08
Correction, Robinson shot 45.1 his rookie season. Solid for a guy who took a lot of j's and was a true scorer. I felt he and Hill should've been co ROY's. Not Kidd, who I always felt was somewhat overrated.
@@Amick44it's amazing how Jason kidd became a second pick and had all that hype at California. He would'nt have Ben in demand in today's game. His hype came from point guards being looked at as the quarterback of the team.
@Amick44 yea... having kidd a co-ROY instead of big dog kinda shows the hate for big dog.. he must've rubbed some of those writers the wrong way when he held out for that rookie deal
If you lived during this era you know Robinson was that guy, like he was him. He had that thing about him where at times he was just automatic. Grant Hill was more popular at the height of his career and was a great player but Glenn did get to the All Star game a few times and he has something Hill didn’t get, a NBA championship.
He always reminded me a less athletic version of Glen Rice, who shot less 3's but was so efficient with not so many dribbles!!! He relied more on the mid-range game...!! But yes, what a player he was...
Very interesting comparison. One reason why I like doing this channel is seeing other people's comparisons. I was recently watching a couple of '89 Wolverine games and the Rice comparison is interesting. I agree, the Big Dog shot less 3's and relied more on his mid-range game. Great comment.
Nice video! The early to mid 90s were rife with supremely talented forwards who ended up not completely fulfilling their potential. Think of it - Big Dog Robinson, Shawn Kemp, Derrick Coleman, Larry Johnson, Laphonso Ellis, Antonio McDyess, Grant Hill, Vin Baker, Chris Webber, Lionel Simmons, Billy Owens, Jamal Mashburn. Injuries, weight problems, attitude problems, etc. I'd argue that all of those guys with the possible exceptions of Mash and Webber would have better luck if you re-simulated their careers.
Great comment and thank you so much for the your viewership. I like the mention of Lionel Simmons. Because Simmons played in SAC, I didn't get a chance to watch him that often. But Larry Johnson is one person I wondered about if he didn't have the back problems. But those are great names and examples. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of the NBA season.
I have been watching a few different games and clips on those Bucks team and Big Dog but I think you summed it up well. He just lived up to his expectations. Many times players get hyped up and and don't live up to the hype or some exceed and go above. He just did what he was supposed to do and was very solid throughout his career. He was so predictable though that maybe that is why he is easily forgotten?
Great comment. Thanks for posting it. For some reason I was the Cavs, but anyways when, you wrote Ellis, the first name I thought about was Dale Ellis and I thought he retired at the time. But that is indeed Dale Ellis in the game. That would be a fun team to play with on NBA Showtime with those 4 players you mentioned.
Let me stop you right quick.... Grant Hill wasn't better than Big Dog in college. He was injured.. period. No one stopped Big Dog. Ask the Bulls and Jordan how Big Dog killed them.
Actually he was and Grant shut him down on the big stage when they played in '94 NCAA Tourny when Purdue was #1 seed, Robinson was 6-22 from the floor and Duke won by 10 as the #2 seed
As someone who lives in Milwaukee and was a huge fan of the big 3 in the late 90's and early 2000's(Robinson, Allen, Cassel) I think Robinson was a very good player but just didn't have the drive or work ethic to improve his game to truly be great. He was great in college but was mostly thriving off of talent and his money "midrange jump shot". He also wasn't very athletic and like the video states he was a little slow to guard some more athletic small forwards in the NBA but wasn't big enough to play power forward. He was an amazing midrange shooter and he could also shoot the 3 pointer and free throw shooting. You could basically pencil him in for 20 pts and 6 or 7 rebounds a game consistently. The thing is though he didn't really have the personality to get endorsement deals, he wasn't really a leader and I hate to say this but he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed if you have watched any interviews with him. And he never really came into a season in very good shape. I wouldn't call him a bust as he had a good career but for a #1 pick in the lottery he wasn't a franchise type of guy.

Also, I know Hill was a triple double machine and could handle the ball and pass the ball better than Robinson, but it didn't translate to wins.
