    Mitch Richmond's prime was wasted by so many losing seasons in Sacramento. By the time he got traded, he barely had anything left in the tank.

    • @90sSportsNostalgia
      @90sSportsNostalgia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sadly, Richmond probably doesn't get the respect he deserves. Furthermore and like you said, his seasons in SAC probably have so many view him in a different way. However, that trade for Chris Webber really made the Kings better as Mitch was kind of on the decline. Thank you so much for watching my video as I hope it was worth your time. I greatly appreciate you watching this video and I hope it brought back some good memories. Take care and be safe.

      Thanks for the comment. Richmond was awesome in '96....I am a Lionel Simmons fan and thought he was a good player but unfortunately, injuries ended his career abruptly. Thanks again and enjoy the NBA playoffs this year. Next year, I hope the Kings get in.

    Growing up in the 90's of the central valley of California it was a bit of a shock for me to witness the Kings transform from a perennial losing team to a team on the verge of the NBA finals and playing that beautiful brand of basketball. It almost felt like a dream sometimes. I'm still sad about that 2002 series, the Kings were the hottest team in the playoffs that year, followed by Webber's ill-timed premature injury the following year. It was basically over after that, but it was a great ride and I have a fond memories of that great squad..

      Great comment. I like your quote "it almost felt like a dream sometimes". Even though I grew up in Chicago, I somewhat became a Kings fans when they changed to their black and purple uniforms during the Mitch Richmond years and then all of a sudden, Jason Williams and Webber came to Sacramento and I enjoyed watching every minute of Kings basketball. That 2002 series annoyed me. I am hoping the Kings get back to the playoffs. I really like their fans and like watching videos about their franchise. The documentary "Small Market, Big Heart" is one of my favorite basketball documentaries. Thank you so much for the comment. I enjoyed reading it so much.

    I started following the Kings in 1990. Thanks for perfectly wrapping that decade in the video, brought back a lot of fond memories of the different teams. I still remember when I was driving back from college and listening to 1140 (Kings radio station) in 1998 when Grant Napear announced the signing of Divac. Also saw draft of Jason Williams live. Man, good times.

    Love the video. Definitely got nostalgia and chills watching this. Born and raised in Sacramento, and grew up watching them. The 96 Playoffs, I was in the 1st grade but remember watching those games with my dad. Then got to watch the Greatest Show on Court squad in the early to mid 2000s. It's been a rough 13 years of no playoffs. But I'll always love my team.

    Based on this video of the Sacramento Kings in the 1990s, one of the players that you mentioned in Owens Funderburke. What happened to Owens Funderburke? And as for Mitch Richmond playing for the Sacramento Kings franchise basketball team for 7 years and not having a winning season, he should've been a winner. Although he was exceeding expectations, he achieved success.

    If only the Sacramento Kings could've been contenders throughout the NBA playoffs during the beginning of the early mid 1980s, the 1990s, the 2000s, and in the 2010s, they would've exceeded expectations and achieve success to becoming a championship contender to compete in the NBA Finals if Mitch Richmond's career would've gone to waste and hit rock bottom despite the losing records in each of his seasons playing with Sacramento. But to me, the Sacramento Kings had very good players that were talented and with potential to be the best such as Spud Webb, Lionel Simmons, Billy Owens, Michael Smith, Corliss Williamson, Walt Williams, Brian Grant, Tyus Edney, Olden Polynice, and Bobby Hurley. I'm sorry to hear about the automobile accident that impacted Hurley's career and his life. I also like the Sacramento Kings Purple, Black and Silver Jerseys and their new logo as well. I felt terrible for Mitch Richmond not getting the respect that he deserves to become an NBA Finals Champion to bring the championship to the city of Sacramento despite the fact that the Kings were in the small market representing a small town. But it took the Sacramento Kings years to break away that playoff drought. They will succeed starting right now.

      As the video mentioned, The Kings have had a ridiculous amount of bad luck with injuries. Maybe that's also a scouting issue. Pervis had a great college career, was endorsed by Bill Russel yet was had a medicore career. Is that bad luck, bad scouting?

Of course Mitch Richmond played for the Golden State Warriors during that time along with Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin and Sarunas Marcilonous years back during the 1990s.
