I had a tibial plateau fracture with compartment syndrome. It took 3 surgeries and 2 weeks in the hosp. When released it took 6 months to get to a cane. Now 1 1/2 years later i still cannot bend my knee. My leg swells in 3 hrs and locks up. Can scar tissue prevent me from bending my leg? I can bend about 70degrees first thing in the morning . I havent had therapy except after surgery. This is because i am poor and cant miss anymore work for therapy. I almost lost my house and went 6 months with no water. I am getting better financially so i will be able to go to therapy in a couple weeks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Doctor joe so my foot pain went away i thought it was a serious injury but no i feel much better i went back to running on Sunday but I've been feeling tense on the neck shoulders and arms when running now i know that is due to poor posture so do you have a video on back strengthening ? What about the scar tissue on my rotator cuff? How can I break that up or heal that? The pain never completely goes away. Everytime I do weight lifting exercises involving my shoulder the scar tissue ruptures, and the cycle starts over again. Inflammation, scar tissue, inflammation, scar tissue. Any advice? thank you.
Put a screw in the pad of my finger and after it healed completely I had a puffed up, highly sensitive scar in the worst of places compromising my grip strength in my left hand. (I can hold my weight up for 20-30 seconds right hand only but can’t even take my feet off the ground left handed from the pain in my finger) Using Doctor Jo’s method for about 1-1/2 months I can now barely feel the scar at all and it’s completely invisible to the eye! @@rosagroen2964 my surgery was on September. I am on my 6th month and even though my hand is way better, still is not 100%. If I just knew this, believe me I wouldn't do it. I'd rather keep my ganglion cyst but I also know everyone is different. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't the best. Hope you feel better soon

I've been told that there is possible tendon adhesion. I got cut and stitched on back of my palm, index finger (knuckle) and wound was already closed, however, i cannot bend my finger to the fullest like doing a fist and it is a bit swolen. Had my ultrasound this afternoon and i'm scared for the result as i don't want to get a surgery or cut again just to fix the possible tendon adhesion. I find ur video and so thankful that tjere is a hope , possible i can just lift the skin and massage the affected area. I,'m so afraid to touch it after the cut had been closed but after worrying that another surgery would happen, i tried moving it as mom told me to stretch and bend my finger and do exercises, and ur video of massage is so perfect. Will this work on a quad tendon I partially tore 2 years ago? I did some massage at the beginning when I had pain, and have been stretching and gradually building up my ability to hike and jog, but that knee still responds differently after exercise. It feels bulky compared to my other one.

Got a surgery 1 month ago, and while the external scaring is perfect, I got an accumulation of fibrous scar tissue under the skin, causing this part of my body to be swollen, with a hard part under the scar. hey doctor jo, i recently got hit in the lip by a baseball and my lip spit from the inside, my inner lip was hanging out of my mouth, i had it stitched up and it has healed. the laceration didn’t go outside of my mouth. now that it has healed it feels like lump. it looks swollen but it isn’t, it’s just the scar tissue inside of my lip, do you have any tips to reduce the large bump of scar tissue? it makes me super self conscious. i have that as well, i was attacked by a pittbull and lost full feeling in the top of my ring finger. the “squishy” area is where i lost feeling. it’s mostly fatty tissue, where the muscle or meat of your injury (in my case the finger) was lost. talk to a doctor about it, as i’m not at all qualified to tell you for sure. if it feels fragile, and you’re worried about popping it or reopening the injury, talk to your doctor or a surgeon immediately.
Thanks Jo. I have a question, I have 6 scars on my knee and the one on my quad tend is started to get raised, despite lots of manipulation and gel. I’m 9 weeks post op. Overall the scars are still dark red, should I continue to be patient with them or is it time to look into additional treatments?
You're welcome. Unfortunately, scars can take 6-12 months to completely heal, but if you are concerned, you might want to have your doctor take a look at it.

It is more likely scar tissue depending on how much rehab you did for your tendonitis. Do you stretch your ankle/calf/achilles tendon?
I would check in with a doctor to make sure orthotics would help.

Stretches and exercises should help break it up. If not, it might be worth talking with your doctor about an injection that might help break it up.

hey doctor jo, i recently got hit in the lip by a baseball and my lip spit from the inside, my inner lip was hanging out of my mouth, i had it stitched
up and it has healed. the laceration didn’t go outside of my mouth. now that it has healed it feels like lump. it looks swollen but it isn’t, it’s just the scar tissue inside of my lip, do you have any tips to reduce the large bump of scar tissue? it makes me super self conscious. Thank you!

I have scar tissue that has a soft area... it feels as if when u press it , it could pop underneath. It’s very squishy... any idea what it could be ?
i have that as well, i was attacked by a pittbull and lost full feeling in the top of my ring finger. the “squishy” area is where i lost feeling. it’s mostly fatty tissue, where the muscle or meat of your injury (in my case the finger) was lost. talk to a doctor about it, as i’m not at all qualified to tell you for sure. if it feels fragile, and you’re worried about popping it or reopening the injury, talk to your doctor or a surgeon immediately.

You're welcome. Unfortunately, scars can take 6-12 months to completely heal, but if you are concerned, you might want to have your doctor take a look at it.
