Thank you so much! Every other video only talks about massaging to prevent scar tissue build up. I have been looking for one about breaking it apart after its already formed. I have a really thick and hardened area on the palm of my hand where it meets the wrist, from an ulnar nerve exploratory surgery. What you described with your patient is kind of what I have. That area of the suture is one that opens up pretty easily, and was starting to, so they left the stitches in longer. I guess from opening a little, it formed a larger more solid scar than the rest of the incision. Its been really worrying me since its been causing some pain, and even restricting my hand a little. So you can soften it up, but does it ever get any better over time? Or is it pretty much permanent?

Nice video! I was wondering if this would be good to apply on my hardened Hoffa's fat pad in my knee. My injury (Fell on my knees) is a year old and unfortunately it has become chronic. My MRI showed the only thing bad in my knee is my inflamed fat pad tissue...

This okay up to a point, there are far more sophisticated techniques found by Sharon Wheeler (ScarWork) and also some by Alastair McLouglin (MSTR). Both of these techniques are very soft in there application and there is no pain associated with them either. Research is on going but the application of light pressure can have profound effects through the multiple layers (facia and muscle) within the body leading to deep long lasting outcomes. It's worth doing research of these techniques and finding a local practitioner to help any issues you may have.

I've been suffering with knee pains ever since my 3 orthopedic surgeries, and can't barely do anything without feeling my knee pain. Turns out I have developed these growths underneath main scar incision, my guess is a bunch of scar tissue that's hardened over the years. Bad thing is that NO ONE told me (not my doc or physical therapist) that I had to take care of this scar and massage it constantly in order to avoid problems with it in the future. Now 2 years after last surgery I'm having this problem affecting my life, I know it's never too late to start, but it would have been easier for me to start right after wound healing.

I had surgery on a finger joint back in May. The doc told me to work on being able to bend it forward, but didn't mention flexing it back, and now it is crooked forward. It's fully healed and fully usable, but I'd like to straighten it. Would something like this work on a finger joint?

    • @48carroll

I'm a side sleeper. When I wake up at 2 am, I'm ok; but the later I awake, the more likely a spasm will erupt. By 7 am, a few spasms are certain. If I do some piraformis stretches, it helps, but the massage heated pad always works... After 15 or 20 min.

Is it possible to flatten the muscle tissue from a muscle belly pec tear? It’s nearly 15 years old and when I flex you can see a lump. Unfortunately it didn’t tear from the tendon and from what I’ve been told, it can’t be repaired so I’ve been living with this ever since.
I am really just looking for some kind of cosmetic improvement if possible. Thanks guys.

Have you tried using a massage gun lightly on it? If it's really sore, you may want to get that looked at by your physician, in case it's something other than scar tissue. Could be a benign cyst that formed as well.

Q: to clarify: so i have heart surgery scaring from years and years and from various angles, now i have a lot of tightness and aches and pinching in my chest and shoulders and clavicle and sternum and back and neck and ribs sometimes. i can now wake up and expand my chest a little and pop/crackle my sternum and clavicles and rib-sternum areas, is this popping/crackling the same activity happening in a standard knuckle/joint pop? or is it the popping of the scar tissue that u spoke of in this video? i looked up scar tissue info right now because i just watched a couple Rodney Mullen interviews and he talked about how he had gotten to a point where one of his hip sockets was deteriorating and developing scar tissue, and that it grows like weeds, and it was pulling his femur up into his pelvis and it woulda started grinding the head down and eventually fusing in the socket, but so he periodically would poke something into his socket to break up/loosen some of the scar tissue, and then one day he was really working with it and he heard a huge pop like a tree trunk and it loosened it all up and he felt like he had a normal ball and socket joint again, so like he just totally broke the dense scar tissue in there. so this popping in dense scars is normal? and is it something to be done very cautiously? cause i am very sensitive about my sternum area ever since my last open heart surgery at 16 yrs old. sternum is basically completely developed by then, and they put wires in there to hold my sternum closed, so no doubt that mighta caused some things too, but im hoping the popping and crackling isnt any sort of loose sternum but rather rib-joint and maybe scar-tissue popping.

WeAreBullets wow. Your case sounds similar to mine. I have hydrocephalus and 3 years ago, I had 2 brain surgeries. I had a shunt revision. One surgery to replace the tube and one to replace the shunt valve in my head. Now 2 years later, I have pain underneath my rib cage and across my abdomen. I have been to several doctors and specialists and have had several tests and no one can figure out what is going on. I do feel lot of tightness and pinching and discomfort. And pain. I am unable to eat, and I have lost weight. The only thing that helps is a cold compress on my chest. I am dealing with this along with my headaches for hydrocephalus. It is just a real nightmare sometimes.

Hi. I was just watching a video by cancer rehab pt about using a suction tool. I'm going to try it on a hard to reach, sensitive foot surgery scar. The one she recommended was for a larger area but I found one on Amazon called:
Sawyer Products Venom Extractor & Suction Pump Kit for Snake Bite, & Bee, Wasp, and Mosquito Stings
If you search the reviews for the word "scar" you can get opinions from people who actually used it on their scars. I just ordered one today. 🤷🏻‍♀️
They say don't do it too hard or you might get hickies.

Do you think this might help my scar tissue? Years ago I was playing around with a friend and their head slammed into my head and I got a terrible black eye. I didn't know that I should put ice on it and I let it go. Now I have this big lump of scar tissue above one of my eyes. It is right on the eye socket bone above my eye. A doctor told me to use heat on it because I never used ice on it, but the heat didn't help whatsoever. I have thought about going to see a plastic surgeon because my eyes aren't the same now. Please help if you can. Thank you #BOB&BRAD

I am a family Physician and I have my advice in this matter, the most important part to start with is choosing the surgeon/ physician well before any procedure, if there is 1% uncomfortable attitude coming from that doctor then forget it and dont go for it. Look for another one. I know a friend who made procedure to his nose and the doctor told him he would not touch the skin exteriorly but he lied. He made 2 stitches to his tip of the nose from outside and as a result of that a visible scar now in that area and the patient is so angry because of that and he is thinking to go for laser removal but not sure if it will help or not.

Joesr31, that dark purple sensitive scar sounds like a keloid scar. I also develop those. They can get ugly and huge. I had one that continued growing. Eventually a doctor suggested a steroid shot into the scar, which made it stop growing, stop hurting, turn skin colored, and flatten out. It was awesome.
