Hoshizaki ice machine TXV and Mechanical seal repair

- Diagnosed this hoshizaki ice machine with a bad TXV. The mechanical seal needed to be replaced also. Removed the old TXV and the mechanical seal. Installed new TXV and new mechanical seal. Repair of this hoshizaki ice machine was pretty smooth.

It’s what allows the augur to spin without water leaking out the bottom of the evaporator. It’s also called a water seal.

Did you use nitrogen while you were welding components in and out?
I usually do. Flowing nitrogen is definitely best practice.

Nice TXV change out . I’ve only ruined one TXV . I wasn’t paying attention with my flame and hit the line going to the sensing bulb . Melted that little line like butter .
